Subject: 5 Blindshot in 3 Positionen?
Link on message: #16599439

View PostHassenderZerhacker, on 29 January 2019 - 10:53 AM, said:   Your point of view is so different, I do have to make an effort to understand it.   First about "evidence" - I can only provide personal experience and hearsay from my friends.
Maybe a poll could help?   I will still maintain that reserves encourage a different play style.
If you have access to WoT statistics, maybe make a comparison of same-player average duration per battle and average winrate for activated reserves vs. no reserves.
That will provide the proof you were asking for.   About business sense - what do you think is the psychological effect on people who have paid gold or money for reserves to see them going to waste? Wuill they feel that it was a good investment and buy some again?
Or if they were able to play only in 5 battles because all battles were campfests? or lost every battle because of time pressure or bad MM? Is it better for WoT if players can always be available for platooning and clan activities without losing their reserves? Everyone also knows the downtimes between clan battles. In most cases it makes no sense to activate reserves for clan activities.     I still think there is a misunderstanding here.
My statement is very clear cut: the reserve's battle count decreases by one every time the "battle" button is pressed. Without any time considerations. So when disconnected, away or whatever, the maximum loss in reserves is 1 battle. Players can't be in 2 battles at once, unless they are already dead in the earlier battle. Reserve bonuses should count for every battle initiated by the "battle" button while there are reserve tokens remaining on the active reserve. No, it doesn't force people to activate only certain types. they can activate a 20 battle reserve and a 10 battle reserve, and when the 10 battle reserve expires they can activate another 10 battle reserve to amtch the remaining battles on the other reserve... or not. up to them. it's not very different from activating reserves with the same duration right now - except it's more convenient and will produce less frustration because they will expire at exactly the same time.     Well, I think the same can be said about your counterarguments.
I am certainly not pretending to speak for the entire playerbase, but I think the majority would welcome changes. If only there was a way to find out what the playerbase wants...

eekeeboo:   And if you make no effort to understand the other perspective you will never find a positive solution. Furthermore, you've instantly highlighted you will only listen to those opinions and facts that align to your own and ignore others because you don't feel you need to.    A Poll as highlighted many many and even more many times does not help because the forums do not represent even an average player or a majority. You state that a majority would welcome but as above you've just stated you only represent you and your friends and have no interest in knowing or understanding any other perspective.    I have said that it doesn't change behavior, you are stating that it does and claiming it does, you assert that it does, the burden of proof is now on yourself. You can claim this you can say "in my opinion" but it doesn't mean it's correct.    I'm not misunderstanding I'm highlighting that you have the exact same problem you are having an issue with, losing out on something that is activated. For instance, you activate a 20 battle and a 10 battle, you press battle and one expires but it will still have to be shown until the end of the previous battle, so you're stuck there waiting for the end of the battle to end to then activate another special. You're actively preventing people from playing.  13:31 Added after 0 minutes

View PostApocalypseSquad, on 29 January 2019 - 10:58 AM, said:     Yes.  I activated reserves for the first time last night.  I have hundreds of the things and have never bothered with them because I don't tend to play for solid hours - I dip in and out.  However, I had a free hour last night and decided to give them a go.   Immediately I could feel the pressure of that clock ticking.  It wasn't just a case of having to win and do well, but I now had that feeling that I had to do it quickly.  I am sure I played a lot worse as a result, making some impatient rash moves that I would normally never have considered.  I am sure my stats were a lot worse than normal for that session and though a handful of games is hardly representative the feeling was very real.   I also enjoyed myself much less than usual. For that reason, for me, reserves for a certain number of games would be far preferable to the current model.

eekeeboo:   Why did you feel the need to play more quickly, knowing that faster games have less reward and thus will provide less percentage increase?

eekeeboo:   It is unsportsmanlike conduct to actively prevent and reduce your team's chances of winning. A person will be banned if they trigger enough unsportsmanlike conducts, it's not in the intention or purpose of the game to drown your own vehicle.      12:29 Added after 1 minuteI've also unapproved a post that showed a support ticket answer. The damage suffered by our clan during the landing battle is evident and the server fault prevent us to be able to play the match in the best possible way (our tanks was bloked and not repairables, other thanks could not be set up with ammo, consumables and directives : all was blocked!!) This is an issue that absolutly NEEDS a proper reply and, in our opinion, a RIGHT compensation. Feel free to contact me every time to discuss this matter, but legally, this case falls into the  promissory estoppel case. Looking forward to hearing from you, best regards,

eekeeboo:   The frustration is clear, but the decision on this with a current extension was in place so that players, on the whole, should not lose out.  In terms of legality, I think you'd find little case for this and the support in where it falls under due to the constant information update and quick resolution and the burden of proof falling on yourselves to prove you would have received something not gained and that you were not given an opportunity to remedy the issue, while simultaneously doing it and highlighting that it was not giving an advantage to any other competitive party to put yourselves at a disadvantage.    I'm not saying this is the perfect resolution, but highlighting that on the whole, the situation was a bigger issue for all players and CW players represent a minority who already have extended compensation and we're still discussing compensation issue because of the way CW players play outside of the norms.

However, as a someone with a premium account, first I lost time in the morning when the problems first occurred. Then I lost more time in the prime hours of the evening when they occurred again. I don't know how WG calculate that, but as I'm effectively paying to play, I'd expect compensation when the game is not fully available. During updates, WG normally issues 1 day of compensation for the same reason, so I don't see why this should be any different. HAs it been taken into account by WG?

eekeeboo:   Can you please confirm the times of the issue as it was first found at off-peak hours and was resolved within an hour.

View PostCWO_KIRK, on 29 January 2019 - 06:38 AM, said: I played recently during the First XP Fever special for 2019. I won the extra XP a few times. I thought the special was good, with a decent reward for winning 3 games etc. I have to say though, that the bulk of the MM for the games was pretty dismal. It was favorable MM to my team about 25% of the time and unfavorable MM about 75% of the time. I use XVM with the WGR color scale. When I say unfavorable, for example: I mean 3 yellow players on my team versus 4 yellow + 2 green players on the opposing team. It was sometimes, much more unbalanced than that. The worst MM I experienced, was 4 yellow + 1 green player on my team versus 8 yellow + 2 green players on the opposing team. For most of the time, the XVM color rankings are a very reliable indicator, that the team with more of the higher ranked players on their side, is going to win the game. I can't understand why WOT won't use player rankings, along with other factors, to help make better MM, for a more pleasurable gaming experience. It's not fun to play game after game, against a much better team and lose, over and over again. Some players will say, that it will balance out over time and that if you lose most of your matches one night, then the next night you will win most of your matches. I have not found this to be a true statement. If the average player is at 47-48% WR, then the MM is by design, trying to make you lose a little more each game, than win. Also, the games that are the most well matched, ie the same color distribution of players on each side, are usually the most exciting and fun games to play. A lot of times, you can't really tell who is going to win, until the very last minute of the game. I recently saw a QuickyBaby video, where he discussed that WOT is losing customers. WOT management, I have a suggestion. Will you please include player rankings in the formula for your MM? Most customers (including myself) are getting tired of playing repetitive, losing games, over and over again. Mainly because of such badly unbalanced MM. Right now, I maybe play once a week. If the MM were better and more balanced, I would probably play every day, because the game would be so much more interesting and rewarding to play.

eekeeboo:   Firstly this is completely off-topic and "skill-based" mm will not be the solution you think it will be, the more you understand those rating systems the more you'd understand how much they would not help at all.

View PostLeMask, on 28 January 2019 - 06:54 PM, said: Good for WG to launch this kind of programs, but I just can't accept some of the conditions in it. And this is why I would never follow someone in such a program.

I'm not going to write a book here about ethics... But just keep things simple.

It's up to the player to decide if the content is good or not. If an "opinion leader" like a blogger or youtuber starts saying blatant lies about a game, the followers wise enough to see through will leave... And the fools will stay. But who cares about the fools? I certainly don't. Maybe that WG cares about the fools as they are potential customers who will give their money.

But I think that WG shouldn't care about fools even if there is good money in it. Why? Well, if you build a strong community of fools to fund your project, you will have immediate success. But what about the future? The next game developper will make a Fornite or something like that, and steal all the fools you raised.

The thing is to do it the hard way. Make a good product to please wise and smart individuals. And keep up the hard work and respect for your customers, build a legendary game and a strong community. And then keep building on it as a strong base.

But you can't give up codes, free premium tanks etc... And expect obedience.

What I mean: You don't get to control the program. You can encourage people by giving them tanks to test. Codes etc... So they can provide a better content (hard to test a tank you don't have). And leave them evolve alone.

NO CENSORSHIP!!!

In fact, having your own moderators on your own forum is pretty much a violation of our freedom of speech. If we have something negative to say about the game, we should have the right to say so. I doesn't have to be constructive.... It's up to you to interpret it and make into constructive propositions. It's your job, not ours.

eekeeboo:   I don't think you understand what freedom of speech is, firstly above all else.    And slander doesn't work on common sense, nor does it when people see WG as a person providing access for a person to test things early and they then say some unsavoury things, people assume it's endorsed, when it's not.    This is why the program has been changed to keep things in line and to highlight the fact this is facilitation, not a provisional "relationship". It's not about expecting obedience, it's about helping people make content that helps them create their own content and get the extra edge while also advertising content and showing it off for people in ways we cannot.    We don't get to control all content, but we do on the other hand get to control our own program. If a person abuses a position of trust or the materials given to them, then we have full right to pull that support. This isn't censoring them, it's about making sure those who a constructive thrive, those who are toxic don't. Freedom of speech doesn't give you a right to offend people or make inaccurate statements and dress them up as "personal opinion".    It is a content creators job to be objective, informed and informative. It is not a content creators job to be sensationalist, click-baiting or over-the-top-negative to please the masses. This is why you have big content creators and those who aren't, if you compare the material they create, you can see this. You can only interpret offensive statements as criticism, if there's nothing constructive said, then there's nothing to interpret it becomes sentiment not constructive feedback, there is a HUGE difference.

View PostHassenderZerhacker, on 29 January 2019 - 10:18 AM, said:   1- Reserves do encourage people to behave differently.
Interactions with other players confirmed this, and I sometimes behave differently as well. If the mathematic outcome in XP of 2 hours of play while yoloing in lights or shortening unfavorable battles is better than what can be expected from playing seriously, it means yoloing, suiciding is the rational decision because it maximizes the outcome for the player. That's how reserves encourage playing badly.   2- The measure of a per-battle equivalence of reserves should be based on the *average* duration of a battle, not the maximum time.   3- lost or won, disconnected or not, the active reserve's battle count should just decrease by one every time the "battle" button is pressed. incase of a disconnect, if the battle is still active, the player can of course reconnect to that battle and benefit from the reserve. If the battle ends before he can reconnect, of course the player should benefit from any reserves he activated for that battle.   The above would also avoid having reserves expire at different times. It's another minor annoyment when I press "battle" and 2 seconds before the battle starts a reserve expires.   and YES, as other posters noted, activated reserves are also a reason for players to not platoon or to not be available for clan battles.   we find more and more reasons why battle-count based reserves are better.

eekeeboo:   Can you provide evidence that boosters make people behave differently? People behave differently when there's a mission or a x5 etc, boosters are a passive boost whether win or loss, they don't encourage a different play style, they just boost your current play style and supplement the rewards. Psychologically they have minimal impact in altering the rewards or perceived conditions for reward.    What should and what you want and what makes business sense and economical sense don't always align.    And I mentioned above you say they lose a reserve, if they leave or have a disconnect they still lose out as they do now, but actually lose out more based on the average and maximum time parameter. What if they're in 2 battles at once, it's not as clear cut as your statement suggests. Because different reserves would have different battle values, some people have 3 hours and others 1 hour etc, you're forcing people to only activate certain types.    You find more and more reasons why battle counter suits your personal goals, not for the benefit of the entire player base or people in different situations.

I use that time to give a hug to my wife (mostly just a sweet butslap), check what my kids are doing, make a cup of coffee or tea etc.   So whats better? Quality or quantity?

eekeeboo:   This may be the case for yourself and it's unfortunate you struggle to play over a protracted period of time without rest, without a detriment to your gameplay, but for many like myself I already struggle with the amount of down time and thrive on pushing for a goal and objective. Each to their own and try to cater to the majority without punishing the minority. Having a number of battles reserves doesn't correlate to an increase in quality in your battles.

View PostRenesco, on 29 January 2019 - 10:12 AM, said:   Never mind power outages, I've 3 kids and finding a 2 hour window to sit down uninterrupted is practically impossible. Didn't WG themselves say most of the people who play this game are family men in their 30s and 40s? Then there must be a lot of other people like me who are constantly being interrupted and as such, the time limit thing is counter-intuitive to us and thus we don't use them. If the boosters were for X amount of battles instead of a time limit, I can tell you I wouldn't have 200 of them rotting in my inventory right now.

eekeeboo:   At the same time x number of battles and you're interrupted in each and every battle (as you mention happens frequently), there would be a benefit for the timed booster.       10:28 Added after 1 minute

View PostGeno1isme, on 29 January 2019 - 10:18 AM, said:   Well, after reading the other replies a freeze-on-logout wouldn't solve the issues with getting interrupted by clan activities either as well. So probably better an option to freeze the timer on demand once per hour the reserve is running (so one time for 1h reserve and two times for 2h reserves). That should limit the potential for abuse significantly (as you can only trigger the freeze in the garage).

eekeeboo:   Now introducing such a mechanic can be confused and how people would then need to decide which one, depending on the time remaining on the booster, some would prefer to let the one with 1 minute remaining run out to start a new one etc. Again I don't want it to seem like I'm constantly negating your point of view or arguing, but trying to just illustrate the importance and the other side of why things are the way they are.

View PostGeno1isme, on 29 January 2019 - 09:47 AM, said:   Thinking about it, I think Fractured Space has a mechanic where you can apply a singular boost when checking the battle results, which would solve those issues (you only apply it when you actually know it's worth it). But then I guess it's more tricky to implement here for technical reasons (concurrent battles and asynchronous battle results), so time-based is probably still the best compromise. Though ideally a logout at least should freeze the timer.

eekeeboo:   The freezing timer would be good/nice/convenient but then it would be open to abuse, like an alt-f4 if you think you're going to lose or you die and then waiting until you log-in etc. I'm not saying it's the worst idea ever with the boost-by-battle, but it's just the what works conveniently with the game and systems we have.

View PostXxKuzkina_MatxX, on 29 January 2019 - 09:47 AM, said:   Rarely that a battle goes for the full 15 minutes these days, from my experience it's a round 7-8 minutes average. The number of battles within a 2 hours reserve is not the issue really, WG could make that 10 for all i care.   The issue is as much as WG loves to manage their server time by keeping it populated almost 24/7 to keep the queue time as low as possible, me too as a player would like to manage my time better. If i activate a reserve and found out that it isn't the ideal time for me to play, i'd like to use that bonus some other time. Reserves aren't as valuable as they once were being given away almost daily so better management of those will be just a QOL improvement same as was done with the rental styles.

eekeeboo:   But that's where the average and maximum would be used to gauge the equivalent nature. So when you say it's not the issue, it changes the way and number of expectation. There are people like myself who simply did not have the time or completely forgot about the boosters, but during times when I want to grind something out or Clanwars the boosters are absolutely perfect. The value remains the same as when they're given to F2P players they really do make a difference.

View Post____Green____, on 29 January 2019 - 09:57 AM, said: WG need to do something with this example: I activate personal reserves fpr +50% to credits for 2h and after 2mins I recive invite to clan SH. So my booster is wasted, I cant ignore clan invite to play 10x10 shVIII or shX or advances. This is huge problem.  Bunch of people has only one or two tier VIII prem tanks and thats crazy when your tank is stuck on erlenberg for 15mins when draw is played and other tank is stuck in campinovka for 13min30sec. Better solution in my opinion is change 1h booster to +XX% for 10 battles and 2h boosters to 25 battles or leave time limit but in this case turn on farm from sh, wargames and advances. Ppl will be more interested join active clans, play SH, get clan bonus when clan reserves is activated + bonuss from personal reserves.  Big pluss will be - huge number of tier VIII OP premium tank owners will play SH for farming against other OP VIII's and we will see less OP premtanks on random battles.

eekeeboo:   From what you've said, the only change to number of battles would be for the SH fight, the boosters benefit a lot of people who don't play in SH or have problems with only 1 or 2 premiums. They make all the difference to people who have no premium time or premium tanks and play for xp per minute by playing quickly too.

If i was interrupted, getting tired, getting bad maps, bad teams i will leave the game and find something else to do and resume the class struggle later. What is the difference if i activate a booster for 2 hours or 20 games? Will it give the booster a different value? for whatever value they have now!   To me it looks like a relic form the early stages of development, something that needs an upgrade like this for example...   https://worldoftanks...vements/?page=1

eekeeboo:   Now imagine how quickly you can play 20 battles, most reserves aren't equivalent to 20 battles but an hour reserve, for instance, is 4 battles based on time. Now imagine every 4 battles you have to stop, go to reserves, activate etc.    On the other hand, instead of saying 4 battles, you give time so that even when you have a bad game, you're not wasting one of those battles for a boost, you can quickly get in another tank and still take advantage. With a battle timed booster, you will then need to consider do you only count win only conditions because people will be upset with a 100% xp boost on a loss and that's it, gone.

One key factor in this game is to stay alive as long as possible to continue to make damage, yet the reserves encourage people to yolo in their light tanks.   When on 300% reserves and a x5 day, it makes perfect sense to yolo with all light tanks, and to drive straight to the enemy when bottom tier with a med or heavy.   It's clearly the wrong incentive in my opinion.   I guess most players are like me, I'd rather have reserves that are good for 10 battles (=1 hour) or 20 battles (=2 hours). Then I wouldn't feel bad about guarding a flank and not seeign much action and between battles I would have time to have lunch or have a swim without feeling bad for wasting reserves. Heck, I still have a couple of 4 hour reserves sitting there... Now imagine I activate them, and then a transformator blows - as it happened already - and the power is off for 5 or 6 hours. Makes you really feel good.

eekeeboo:   Reserves don't encourage people to do something, those people will do this regardless of the booster or not. If that's how a person wants to play, then you can try to encourage them to play better or to have fun. And you say 10 battles = 1 hour. But that's not how it would measure. You would need to measure 1 battle = 15 minutes. What would happen if you lost 1 battle after 14 minutes, or you disconnected or you had something happen in that one battle and still lost it? Whereas with a time you can come back and still have it running. 09:36 Added after 4 minutes For All:    Please refrain from personal attacks and stay on topic to prevent moderation action and boops of nope-ing!
