Death_on_2_Treads, on Jul 01 2021 - 11:48, said: It is nice, as someone else pointed out, to see a positive post. I
loved playing Avalon Hill or SPI games back when board games were
all the rage. I played D&D for years back when the books for
the game were little paperbacks Greyhawk, Blackmoor, and
Eldritch Wizardry. Most of the time this is a very enjoyable game.
I think everyone has a few tweaks that they'd like to see, but you
aren't ever going to make everyone happy all of the time.

DeviouslyCursed: Strange to see so many Avalon Hill fans on one forum. I like
it. You guys are making me remember all the games I played
that I haven't thought about in years. Panzer Leader, Panzer Blitz,
Tactics II, and Guns of August. But what do you mean "were"?
They still are as far as I'm concerned. Most the good ones you just
have to get off Kickstarter now though. For fantasy buffs,
Gloomhaven and Middara are really good. In fact, my organizer I
ordered for Middara just came in, so I'm all excited to get it all
"organized," lol. If you are set on wargames and don't have
anyone to play with, Thunderbolt Apache Leader is a really good
solo game. In fact, there is a whole line of games made by that
person/company.

Draschel: Because they want damage, assistance damage (tracking) kills, and
to live as long as possible. They hold an advantageous spot,
providing low risk (camo) yet great vantage, many shots, many
opportunities, easier escape routes. They may wish to also keep
their distance from Soviet / Chinese brawlers, or heavy tanks. Even
in defeat, it isn't too hard posting good enough numbers to set you
top 3 on the losing team, and quite possibly 1st. Of course
you knew all this stuff, (by that I mean definitely not) but
just ignored it when you decided to post in whatever heated
way.
Subject: Arty damage reduction
Link on message: #12865029
9999bc, on Jul 02 2021 - 02:28, said: What are you talking about? Arty in an important part of the game
and developers said they will never remove it. Moreover, arty was
immensely popular back in the day. What makes you think that
players don’t like them? Think about it for a second. If
arty breaks WOT model, why would the developers introduce something
that breaks the game. Also, this game is 10 years old and still
doing well. What “ broken mode” are you talking about? Your
biggest mistake is calling this game FPS. It’s not first person
perspective, you can see your tank and the surrounding well. You’re
just making stuff up to alienate arty. Sorry, your all argument
started with a false statement.
Link on message: #12865029

Draschel: What I am talking about, is that when the game
went public with alpha/beta testing, artillery was not
available. Went it continued into open launch, becoming live for
anyone to freely join, artillery was still not available.
Artillery became available in one of the first patches, and at that
time only went to tier 6. Then it was expanded to tier 8. So that
is what I am talking about, whatever development may say - the game
entered fruittion and the die was cast, without artillery playing
any part in the game whatsoever. Why would development need to
remove it, if the game continued as is and was never even
introduced. Back in the earliest of days, arty wasn't even
around, hence not popular. This is not a good argument,
and certainly not one for saying to another, "think about
it" War gaming World of tanks is notorious for
introducing broken aspects which interfere with their concept
model. The initial balancing triangle of the game, were balancing
pillars of a heavy tank, in 3 camps. Speed, firepower, armor. We
call this the IS7/Maus/T30 model. The game was balanced, ultimately
this way. IS7 was provided speed, average armor, poor firepower.
Maus had armor, average firepower, poor speed. T30 had excellent
firepower, average speed, poor armor. See the balance, its
stringent and carefully allocated, with heavy tanks at the core
because only they went on to tier X. Please, don't be naive.
But if you do want examples, sure. It is a first person
shooter. Many first person shooters follow a 3rd person additional
view, like gears of war / Lost Planet / Fallout 3.I am making
nothing up. Everything said is very much
true.

TeriyakiTanker: I'm sorry but you are wrong, there are a multitude of threads that
show this was simply not the case. I have been around longer

was a little over 40k, with around 33-36k being normal during prime
time on weekends.

ArmorStorm, on Jul 01 2021 - 22:48, said: Cry more kid, arty has been nerfed into the ground and “everyone”
is not angry about arty being in the game.
Link on message: #12864980

Draschel: There are two sides of the very clear, cast
coin.Either:: people understand things quite well and hate
artillery.Or don't understand much of anything and casually enjoy
relaxation of artillery. Either way, if you insult someone for
hating on arty, know pretty much someone exactly in return will
insult you for liking it. Really, there is no point for it.But case
in point, being a first person shooter based inside vehicles,
that directly attack one another through line of sight, artillery
is inherently unfair.

Link on message: #12864881
Link on message: #12864881
Draschel: Pantera is arguably the best tech tree tier 8 tank. I would say it
is competing, with T-44 / Charioteer / IS3 / 53 TP in terms of
overall comfort and flexibility. Remember front lines,
everyone bringing out pantera too, as well as their premiums.
Pantera is a good vehicle. The problem with this though.......sadly
Pantera is not a king. Progetto is a king.

Draschel: why not a premium? if grinding BP, and you are focusing on
tier 6, there still are many competent choices that in pubs
are fine. Just stay away from the junkersPanzer IV
schmulturm, AC-4, A46, Loza, Fury, TOG, Dicker max, SU100Y are some
examples of complete junkers.

Link on message: #12864865
Trauglodyte, on Jul 01 2021 - 20:19, said: The overall issue is that artillery has never been allowed, to be
an AoE weapon. For whatever reason, WarGaming is hell bent on
keeping SPGs, as top-down TDs with bad RNG and long reload
times. Personally, I find it insulting that a 21 cm gun does
less AP damage, on a pen, than a 15 cm gun on a TD. But, I'm
willing and able to accept Russian moon-base magic. The part
that I'm struggling with and what drives everyone mad is the
overall impact of RNG. Artillery has always been a fiasco, in
that area, and I'm not advocating making SPGs more accurate.
On the contrary, I've been advocating a bigger drop, in damage,
than what happened at the benefit of bigger splash. I'm also
an advocate of changing stun so that it also has an effect
decrease, over splash, instead of just duration. And, I would
love to test increasing the penetration to near old school levels
but looking at penetration drop off over splash. There are so
many levers, that can be pulled, but WarGaming doesn't have the
stomach or the vision. I get that pretty much everyone, in
this topic, hates artillery. TastyPasty has been beating that
drum for as long as I've been playing. Artillery isn't going
anywhere, though. Making changes that drive folks away is bad
business. Making changes that makes the overall game
experience, for everyone involved, is sound business.
Unfortunately, we keep getting the thought processes of an 8 year
old with a magic 8 ball. That isn't good for anyone.
Link on message: #12864865

Draschel: You need to understand, that this is a FPS. When this FPS,
went through its beta, and was released - it did not have artillery
as a class. It was a game, with heavy tank class at the core, and
with tendrils emerging out for your tank destroyers and light
tanks, as supporting very different classes. Different as they
may be, they could still be ultimately boiled down to - do these
stringent, mechanical concepts still apply to them, or not. And
yes, they do, black and white. Artillery threw that
model, immediately into disarray, even 10 years ago when first
released and only going to tier 6 momentarily. Even to this day, it
continues, and they are nerfed occasionally. Because they do not
fit a FPS model, they do not fit the game core heavy tank class
environment, they are what we call ''white'' in the model.
Artillery will continue in getting nerfs, mark my words why are not
done, and the crying will continue with it. Because you cannot fix
this white, in a black and white model. You need to remove it, or
make it black, like the rest, following the game's initial concept,
and core rules other classes are bound to. The class of
artillery, just is not good for the game. It may have users, yes.
People play them, yes. But that does not promote the game as fair,
and balanced. But rather disrupts it. Unfortunate, but true. Either
make tank destroyers, new tech tree lines, and subsequently modify
their HP, soft dispersion, accuracy, aim-time, and provide them
with something like a HEAT premium choice so they can penetrate
armor, and really - these vehicles all of a sudden do not perform
any real different than SU152, or Hetzer/T40 low tier.
The second choice, much harder to make, is removal and
reimbursement.

sometimes. In return for some of it's clumsiness and long
reload it always did some damage, busted stuff and occasionally
with a pen - a big BOOM. In a few games * hitting the side
of the same M6 heavy I did 12 and 629 damage. * I
obliterated one Swedish medium tank...and did 112 damage to
another. * Aiming at the LFP toward the track of an IS-3...didn't
even track it. The main frustration is that sometimes you
use a KV-2 to shut someone down to clear a flank. Maybe
tanking a shot to do it. Even if the enemy only has 100 HP
anything can happen. It is still fun and can be
effective but it is so dependent on RNG and much less able to
contribute against tier 8's.

Elias_K_Grodin: I'm on Tier VI myself and run into plenty of KV-2s running the big
blast gun. There are still a lot of "blapping" from the
KV-2/2R and I've been on the receiving end as well to a very
painful end. I know the opinion out there is the KV-2/2R
didn't benefit from the 1.13 HE changes but I'm still seeing it
blasting away with good damage in the battles I've been in. I don't
have it myself but they still appear to be VERY
effective. "One hundred rounds do not constitute fire power.

Playoff (Semifinals) Sunday, July 18th - Playoff (Final)
Tournament structure and seeding rules: Top 8 teams by season
rank advance to playoff automatically. The remaining 32 teams will
go through two group stages. Those 32 teams will be split into
8 groups based on the rank that they finished the season, the group
will be balanced to include teams from higher and lower
ranks. Two top teams of each group advance into the 2nd group
stage. 16 teams that advance to the second Group Stage will be
seeded into 4 groups based on results in the first Group Stage.
Teams will get opponents from nearby groups, so they don't play
against the same Clan again. Two top teams of each group
advance to the playoff. 8 teams that advance to Playoff from second
Group Stage will be matched with the season’s top 8 teams according
to Group Stage standings. Group stage rules: Official
maximum battle time will be 15 minutes with 3 minutes between
battles. All battles will be on the map voted by the participants.
All maps are Standard Battles w/ one Cap on each side. Teams will
play two battles against every other Clan. Each round of the group
stages will consist of one map, where you will play each clan in
your group two times, once on each side of the map. Three (3)
Points for a Victory, 1 Point for a Draw, 0 Points for a Loss: If
two or more teams finish the group stage with the same number of
points, the winners will be determined by the personal encounter
(how you did against the team that you're tied with). If the
personal encounter does not determine a winner, the number of
overall victory battles will be counted for each team. Whoever has
more - wins. If a winner is not determined after this, we will pick
one based on season standings. Players can choose any tank that was
allowed in the season. We are going to allow mods from the mod
portal: Using mods outside the portal will result in
disqualification. Players must set replays to 'record all'.
Wargaming reserves to right to request replays and/or python logs
at any time. Players are required to submit those to Wargaming or

in order to receive prizing. Any team that drops out before
completing all their battles will be disqualified from the end
results and receive no individual or team prizes. If you have
multiple accounts in multiple Clans you are only allowed to play
for one Clan. Playoff rules: Official maximum battle time
will be 15 minutes with 3 minutes between battles. All maps are
Attack/Defense w/ one Cap on each side. Teams will play one battle
on the attack and one battle on defense within each round. There
are two sides to each map: attack and defense. Attacker wins if
their team is able to 1) cap the enemy base or 2) destroy all enemy
tanks. Defender wins if their team is able to 1) successfully
defend the bases from the attacker and survive for the full
15-minute timer or 2) destroy all enemy tanks or capture the
base. We are going to allow mods from the mod portal; using mods
outside the portal will result in disqualification. Players must
set replays to "record all." Wargaming reserves to right to request
replays and/or python logs at any time. Players are required to
submit those to Wargaming or risk forfeiture of the match and/or
round. All players must be in the clan at the time of the battle in
order to participate. If any player is not in the clan and enters
the battle, the team will forfeit that round. Both team captains
are allowed to make changes in their vehicle setup after each
battle. Battles will be in the Tournament System. All battles will
be on the USC server. Teams must play all battles for which they
are scheduled in order to receive prizing. Any team that drops out

Elias_K_Grodin: Greetings, Commanders! Exploring new maps is always very
exciting. Fresh locations allow you to take a different look at the
gameplay of various vehicles and experience battles in the most
unusual corners of the world. But creating new maps for World of
Tanks is a long and complex process, and we need your help to make
them as good as they can be. Read more about Recon Mission

Draschel: HE doesn't kill armor. For the most part, neither does
artillery. It does break armor from working properly. Same with
arty. And thats why they always get s--- on

TastyPastry, on Jul 01 2021 - 02:46, said: It looks like arty damage was only reduced about 10%. https://gunmarks.poliroid.ru/ If we look at the data
for marks of excellent requirements for SPGs, the damage reduction
is not nearly as much as what the whining on the forums would
suggest. I suspect that once players figure out the ammo types, the
average damage will increase, possibly to pre-1.13 values. In other
words, arty as a class requires more choice to play well. It makes
sense that the damage values are depressed, since arty players
likely take the longest to adapt to changes in their class's
mechanics. SPGs went from having essentially zero gameplay choices
to having three. Anyway, to the arty players out there, if
you don't like the changes, you can go play Blitz. I don't think
the changes are as bad as you think they are. Adapt and overcome.

Draschel: The second shell type, I can see it. I really have no idea
what the complaining is about, arty potential has increased. Has it
increased to former 9.17 levels, I doubt it. But you never know,
because accuracy, aim-time, dispersion buffs now can compensate for
the raw damage. I know I'd definitely be hated by many to say the
least, but I think artillery should have had more reductions. The
second shell type, should be -10% the 9.12 stun shell damage. The
new stun shell, should be -25% the former 9.12 stuns shell. The
anti-armor penetrator ammo they are provided, should have the tank
max ranges of 702m In addition to this, the patch should
have also discernably, resolutely buffed spall liners, to actually
provide clear HE resistance. The second shell,
really is a great compromise that people would be fool not to use.
It does not offer the damage or penetration of pre 9.17, but
interestingly enough does offer increased splash. I believed SU8
had 3.78, now it is 4.00, a noticed 5% increase. Compared to
the stun shell? You gain far more than 5% in damage and
penetration. The griefers, who want to stun people, (allies
mostly) will suffer considerably in DPG, which sI am grateful
for. I would ahve liked harsher penalties for team stun times
though

M* to the name, then I'd know exactly what you mean.

DeviouslyCursed: And this is one of the only games I have kept playing, for 10
years+. Thank you WarGaming. Here's to another
10+... FYI: I used to set up a board game called "Battle of
the Bulge" when I was little and wait for my oldest brother to get
home from school so we could play. This was about 1979. I still
love board games. And I still love games that make me think and
challenge me. WoT is one of those games.

Playing WOT is not a scientific endeavor, and this is not an academic forum for peer reviewed scientific papers. Any player who has played thousands of battles and uses XVM knows that you can get ridiculously long strings of teams stacked with highly skilled players on one side and and a predominance of red/orange on the other. Thus, a "small sample size" in this case is simply the player noticing an abnormal streak of "stacked" games, based on his own experience over thousands of games. He does not need to submit a formal statistical study to state his experiential reality. We don't need a "scientific" study (if such a thing was even possible in WOT) to accept what he says, as anyone who has played WOT for any significant amount of time is very cognizant of the veracity of what he says.

to put money on, than world of tanks.
