The group (Jadgtiger, VK4502, IS, Jadgpanther) followed him and shot him to death with the distinctive yellow of HE rounds before he could get more than one or two shots off. And while he would likely have died to that group if they'd been using AP they didn't even bother to flank him, just spread out enough that they weren't shooting each other and shot him with HE in the front armour.
Somebody may say that it's all about team work and that they won because their tanks worked together better and concentrated their fire which is true but beside the point. A game with more tactical possibilities like the ability to defend or block with a single tank while others are flanking is a much more interesting and longer lived one.
HE needs to be toned down significantly on cannons that can't penetrate front armour but can penetrate rear armour while not being made completely useless for lower tier tanks that can't penetrate their opponent at all.
p.s. Please keep artillery out of this topic, that's a separate issue.

MrVic: Found this interesting. After recent testing of the HE changes
since the last patch, HE is massively lowered. Most players run AP
that I know of. I have run HE vs heavies lights ect. Seems to be in
line actually much lower then the Real world versions effects.
The IS-7 with its armor and its slope, you have to remember the listed numbers do not mean every inch of the tank on that facing is that thickness. Also its never a simple matter of armor X thickness vs Y penetration. Their is variance in the armor pen of all weapons. Also the listed tanks fighting IS-7s are quite capable of penetrating the armor in some/many places on a IS-7 it all comes down to where you shoot at or where you hit. Also sloped armor can be reduced and negated by positioning. Its all geometry, almost no shot is purely a level shot at a perfectly square target armor facing.
IS-7 hull 150mm Turret 210mm
Your facing off:
IS Lowest armor pen weapon 144mm average of their weapons 175mm upper end 225mm. Hull shots are possible even turret with variance chances odds are, weak spots on tank plenty of punch for those.
4502 base armor Pen 200mm Hull np even chance on turret with some luck, better gun 225mm pen through turret and through the hull. Granted slope can save you a good but but with some good angles and geometry you can negate a lot of slopes depends on the players.
Jagtiger base 246mm pen top end 276mm pen, its got enough punch to pretty much poke a hole in you at will. Slope does kick in and help bounce many shots for sure. (done quite a few myself) But closer the ranges the better at hitting weak armor spots and parts of your tank the slopes are lessened or negated for better chances (applies for all tanks)
Jagpanther 132 pen low end, 200-203mm pen average. Hull and soft spots quite capable, Even the 132 if you place a real good shot into a weaker spot could do some damage but would be hard.
Rear shots on turret or hull from any of these tanks will go through your armor like butter. So if you turret traverse to shoot at once odds are your turret rear was starting to face another in many fights. Also all were capable of dishing out damage through frontal armor with no issues for the most part with AP.
I have extensively played a IS-7 and getting head on with a Jagtiger alone would lead to a fast death especially vs one that was a good shot
Unless you know what all the people
were firing its hard to really know even with trying to see certain
graphics for certain rounds, Many of my AP rounds hit and "splash

ARGO: My humble amature guess would be that since the custom map would be
put together "mosaic puzzle piece" style then the big server would
already know and have each piece of the mosaic maps and I suppose
the only job your PC had after designing it is sending the
combination to the server when you create a training or battle room
who then sends it out to all the players PCs. The real question is
would the WoT engine be able to handle it?

ARGO: yes i figured that Russia, USA, and England would have been
unstoppable at that time and working together I supposed they would
be able to basically conquer the world. Now whether or not they
could hold on, that's a whole other thread to explore.....

about complaining it's about a question. "How does the score system
work?" I decieded to ask this in a thread because I am sure it has
happend to others and I figure someone has the answer to why
sometimes one gets a medal and why sometimes they don't even when
they kill the same number of tanks?.

MrVic: Very neat idea. I think using premium tanks for this could be the

Then I get hit, it was one or two shots at once and i drop from 100% to 84% but the kicker... I lose my tracks and my turret. Yep , just sitting there looking at the lake for a bit as I take about 5-6 more shots and then dead.
Yes a bit of a rant but thats how most of my fights go, its not damage % wise its really a module or two goes right away and the fights over. Anyone I don't know if I just picked the worse tanks for module damage or if all the tanks get that way when they get higher up but it happens so often you kinda just want to snipe and hide cause the first hit and your done

MrVic: Sorry to hear your troubles, Currently I play both those tanks.
Love my tiger seems a bit easy to spot but module damage is never
severe unless I have taken a ton of small hits. Had a few fires
nothing extreme. Otherwise no issues. In fact so far I feel I take
less module damage overall in a tiger I then most of my other
tanks. Panther doesn't seem to lose faster. But these are just my
experiences so far.
One thing to keep in mind the balance system is getting improved very soon and were going to see more tanks and more game modes in the not to far future.
Hope things smooth out for ya tho.

ARGO: This isn't a complaint more than it is a question. I got 5 kills in
my VK3601 and I was at least 2-3 above the other team members and I
did get all the exp+credits I earned but I thought it was wierd
that I didn't get any kind of recognition for the most number of
kills in that battle. How does that system work?

MrVic: Well the premium tanks you see such as the churchhill are lend
lease tanks. Or tanks given to a nation from another nation, or
even captured. They are as is in their level of research. So the
Britsh tree comes out their churchills are not going to effect the
Premium lend lease Russian ones. As Britain improved their tanks
that is represented in the research but the sold to other nation
ones are pretty much stock so to speak so do not gain any of their
equipment.

MrVic: Shooting and hitting another player regardless of hitpoint damage
is a banning offense. I would suggest not doing so in the future.
As for they blocked your way if you feel it was intentional and
they were continuing to move to block you repeatedly you can screen
shot that and submit it for review. Shooting a team mate for any
reason is a bad thing tho. Friendly fire does happen on occasion
tho so usually its best to give people some slack

Destroy more enemy vehicles than any other player on your team in the battle (at least 7). This achievement is awarded whether the player survives the battle or not. If two or more players destroyed the same number of enemies the achievement is granted to the player who has earned more experience points in the battle, not including Premium bonuses. If the amount of earned experience is equal as well, the achievement is not granted.

Destroy more enemy vehicles than any other player on your team in the battle (at least 7). This achievement is awarded whether the player survives the battle or not. If two or more players destroyed the same number of enemies the achievement is granted to the player who has earned more experience points in the battle, not including Premium bonuses. If the amount of earned experience is equal as well, the achievement is not granted.

merig00: There were a handful of reports on having to go to Safe Mode to
delete the installer, but you are the first one who had to go to
Safe Mode to install the game. Usually disabling UAC/AV works.

Then we can get rip of all the insignias on all the Russian tanks too because they make people think of Communism and we can replace all them with save the environment stickers....Now were talkin.
Now then we will need to replace all the tanks because they make people think about war and we all know that war is wrong because we should all talk about peace, love, and understanding so we can replace all of them with Toyota Priuses and all the game music with the song Kumbiya.....

ARGO: There is a name for "Kill Stealers". In the early days of gamming
we called them "Vultures". Ever see how a vulture gets it's dinner?
It sticks around the lions and other preditors, waits for them to
do all the work and then swoops in grabs a mouthful and takes
off.
Anyway, Vultures don't tick me off half as much as the guys who are screwing around gloryhounding for last minute kills while your base is getting capped. At least the vultures are halfway assisting you by killing someone in battle and not running away to garner kills at the entire teams expense.

Oh yes Thank you Mr. Gloryhound, I and our team "not to mention our heavies" really wanted to thank you for those meager 52 exp and 12,000 we ended up with in repairs not to mention the 5,000 in shells I just spent trying to win while you were out selfishly snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

ARGO: Would it be possible to make a feature in the game where players
can make/design their own custom maps? I remember a lot of old
school games that had this feature where premade sections where
placed "like a mosaic" to fit together in some cases to arrange and
make different maps. I suppose there are many ways this could be
done but My guess is that it would be very popular among players. I
am no programmer but I think a custom map feature would not
interfere with the game engine.

ARGO: I had 2 TDs I didn't even know they were there come to my aid when
I was in my IS3. I had annouced that I was going to take out the
enemy arty. I got ambushed half way by 3 other enemy TDs and before
I could even fire a shot our 2 TDs jumped in and started kicking
some serious tail. I nailed one of them and then one of them said
to me, go on and get that arty, we'll take care of these. The three
of them died in the process but they did buy me the time I needed.
I love those TD, AAs far as I am concerned TDs can roll with me
anytime!

ARGO: The VK4502B is a nasty, nasty tank. It can kill at distance and it
can take a whole lot of punishment. Some call it a mini Maus.
Others call it a royal pain in the.....well you know. So how do we
rid ourselves of this bad actor when out cruising in your IS 1,3,4,

MrVic: The buffs and nerfs you are referring to are typically covered just
not in exact detail. If the stats of a tank change on purpose they
change in the in game description. If there was a issue such as the
preivous patch was fixing the damage models of some tanks. So it
was making them true to their listed stats not changing those stats
aka fixing a bug. The stat changes that did take place were listed
with the patch info that was updated and changed and posted weeks
before the patch ever hit.(Ferdi speed and T-44 acceration change
ect) Also this is a beta and things change and get moved in and out
of patches frequently, I would rather they patch faster instead of
spending 2-3 days getting hard number details or trying to explain
to me the code lines they repaired to bring the models back into
line with the in game listed stats. So far they just fixed things
to be true to what it was intended aka bugs. It would look a bit
silly saying patch notes! 3601 front armor was 80mm now its 80mm!

As for the launcher patch they did inform us last week, and it effects no gameplay just a maintence patch of sorts.

MrVic: The patch from 9/8/10 I beleive is the launcher update. More fun
stuff coming soon, but not in the minor update
