Note to future people in the tournament, the competition match maker does not know the rules and doesn't automatically limit the tiers of tanks that you are including.
So you have to manually remember that you can't use a tier IV SPG. Which we did by mistake, been a bit disorganised.
It would be nice if the match maker could just do this by itself ! After all it counts the tank points and all.

GeneralDirection: I agree that it would be nice. It's a feature I've requested with
the improvements that are in development for the tool.
Unfortunately it's not currently possible to limit tiers on a tank
type basis, so policy currently dictates that disputes be
investigated.
That said, this is exactly why I put an off-day between rounds, so that we can investigate the matter thoroughly before coming to a decision. With regard to your team specifically, we have received an appeal by your team captain and will investigate accordingly.

disqualified from the tournament, forfeiting their progress to

Heavy Tanks & Medium Tanks: tier 5Light Tanks & Tank Destroyers: tier 4SPGs: tier 3
Teams found to be using tanks outside of the allowed tiers will be disqualified, and must submit an appeal to events@worldoftanks.com.

I've probably sunk close to $600+ dollars into this game and wont be spending another cent after this latest debacle and demonstration that WG apparently doesn't give two hoots about its Oceanic player base.
Provide us with actual support for the Oceanic player base rather than just support to NA based personnel who happen to be awake during Oceanic peak periods and I'll revise my stance. At the moment the game is beginning to circle the drain as far as I'm concerned and the lack of support is the main reason.

either. Yesterday it showed team "the hope" registered later than us and
yet they were still accepted instead of our team so team selection
is clearly not first come first serve basis. Also several teams
that were accepted have "Team status last modified:" at dates later
than our teams date (team of redundancy team)
and were still accepted over us. We made sure we were registered
prior to the 14th as requested to comply and nowhere did it even
state it was first come first serve or tournament directors
favourite teams would be selected for entry. My team has been
practicing together and acquired the proper tanks we wanted to use
for the tournament. We've got 5 guys from singapore and australia
on our team because this fits their time zone perfectly. I live on
a farm in Canada and can't get cable/dsl so this is one of the
hours where the wimax (wireless high speed) connection I'm on is
actually stable enough to play games. We were all looking forward
to playing in this tournament together and see no reason for not
being able to compete.
Also the tournament times were posted as
We were all showing up based on the 6am EST time posted and yet they had the battles at 5am EST instead of the 6am EST time.
Preparing for the tournament was a big waste of our time and gold I invested in the new premium tank I chose for the tournament.
I can certainly understand and share the frustration of all the people who posted on the forums including all the threads that moderators deleted and censored.

In the meantime, I'm going to see if I can speed up the planning of a few other types of tournaments.

I at least only signed up at the prospect of possibly having a good time on an organized team that didn't involve throwing ten tier 10s and assorted artillery at each other and seeing what happens, I don't think it was anyone's intent on my team to deny anybody else anything. Well, except maybe first place, but that's sort of the point of a tourney.

Well, except maybe first place, but that's sort of the point of a tourney.

GeneralDirection: It was never intended to suggest that it was only for Oceania, just
that the tournament is scheduled in a comfortable time period for
players located in the region. The tool at this time can not dig
deep enough to say "this guy is from Australia and his one is from
Canada." And frankly, I don't feel that should be the case to begin
with. The idea behind the tournament is to give players playing
during those hours something to do. While we'd prefer players don't
set their alarm clocks for 2AM in the morning if they don't
normally play then -- it's why we're scheduling tournaments during
multiple time periods of the day -- it's not something that is
possible to prevent with the tool right now.

GeneralDirection: Yes, in the case of 3rd and 4th place, a special playoff will be
scheduled.

This is really upsetting and if WOT admin won't consider this in the future event, I suspect sabotage happening here so that nobody actually can win the gold prize.
GeneralDirection: While I know you acknowledged this as a joke in a later post, I
will say that yes it's something to consider. The times may have
been set up in a fashion that caused the players to sign up and
then not make it for whatever reason.
This could potentially require some additional functionality for the tool, but I'll see what can be done without that.

teams, as well as extending the actual schedule of the tournament.
It has already been modified for future tournaments that 128 teams
will be allowed.

GeneralDirection: Correct. The goal behind this is to discourage camping and promote
aggressive play -- within reason of course.

GeneralDirection: Yes, the team that would have faced the winner of that round would
get an automatic bye to the next round.
As I see there were three DQs in the Oceanic Challenge, we're going to have to consider possibly modifying the 3/5 rule to account for one potential draw.

GeneralDirection: This is not something possible right now with the existing
tournament tool. It's a feature I'd like to request though for
future expansion of the tool's functionality, among other things.

Tanitha: Exactly. I contacted your clan (and many others), advised you of
the event, and asked for your support. IE I helped promote the
event in the Oceania timezone, and amongst the Oceania clans.
Mainly because I'm from Oceania myself and I know the Oceania
community very well, most of them personally.
So I'm sure even you will agree, that I did my job "of rounding up the Oceania player-base" extremely well, since it filled up several times over..
However, that was pretty much my only involvement in the event. I am not an events manager and I am not involved in the running of tournaments at all.
But feel free to shoot anyway..

Tanitha: Hi, Ive been a manager and big player on both servers over the last
~15 months, and I'm from Australia.
So hopefully I can answer your questions.
You can goto their website, / downloads, and download the Eu client, install it, and make an EU accounts.
www.worldoftanks.eu
However you will probably find the ping is about 100 more(I did). and then you run into issues with a lot of non English on the Euro server.
The NA server also support's the AUS timezone, and that support is increasing more and more. IE kill the mods/courier events in the AUS timezone. Tournaments, and a lot of other things in the works.
The Eu sever will support the AUS timezone very little.
All in all, you will be much better off here on the NA server imo.
Regards
Tan.

'Elite status' for this tournament. Very unfortunate when we,
Oceanic players, couldn't participate because NA players are able
to play in our event. Now, I'm sure there will be NA players who
will play both events in Oceanic and NA events and give no chances
to other players to enjoy WOT events.
Actually, expanding this tournament into 128 players will solve it. The tournament limit should be flexible considering the amount of Oceanic players who can't join.

GeneralDirection: This would require adding an day to the schedule. That said, let me
take a look at the number of teams eligible, and if it's possible I
will bring it up. It will require quite a bit if rescheduling, so I
can't promise it's doable.

GeneralDirection: If sorting by member count, you can see that there are quite a few
teams below the requirements to be eligible: http://worldoftanks....by=member_count
It's going to take a few days before we reach the point where there will be 128 teams eligible for the tournament.

Also with only 64 spots and over 400+ teams registered why didnt someone think about upping the limit to 264 teams?
It would have only added two days of play and given a lot more people a chance to participate while also increasing the chance of seeing some really good teams play in the later stages of the tournament.
Thanks in advance and really hoping for more of these sorts of tournaments for us in "Oceania"!

PS if any teams want a practice battle to hone your tactics let us know. www.outbackgamers.net

few people from 'Oceania' get annoyed and leave the game ,no big

I hope not.

GeneralDirection: Of the 400 teams, just over 120 were actually eligible. A majority
of the teams had 0-2 members. With regard to frequency, these are
planned on a monthly basis where scheduling permits.

Next time they might think a bit more about the oceania players - not overly happy that teams of Oceania players cna be left out when teams of entirely non oceania based players get the nod
GeneralDirection: We tried to set it up to give Oceanic players preference. I'll look
into other ways we can do so, without outright barring players from
other regions from participating. Some players who live in North
America may have jobs that cause them to be awake during these
hours, so it'd suck for them if we limited it based on IP address
or physical location.

I hope not.
GeneralDirection: We didn't use Oceania as testers. It was specifically requested
that the next tournament scheduled be for the region. Unfortunately
that coincided with a major revamp to the community portal, and a
few bugs (particularly involving registration) crept through.
That aside, the rules were set up with an expectation of 64 teams participating, due to past tournaments. But now that there is absolutely a higher demand, we can plan the schedule and format accordingly in the future.

GeneralDirection: I agree. It's a mistake we have to fix for future tournaments. In
the future rules will be made more flexible so that we can expand
it if needed, to allow additional teams.
