Draschel: The more we find out, the better. Knowledge is power. The purpose of
this thread isn't to scream foul; buff Chrysler, buff
thunderslow. But they are at least entitled to their in-game listed
powertrain of 1,200, 500? I do not know about everyone
else, but I purchased a Chrysler years ago, under the assumption
it.....would at least have whats listed/advertised? Great heavy
tank HP/T and cross country handling. But what we are finding
out more and more with theorymon, in that the hidden ontop of
the hidden stats....not cool. Hey lets scam people out of
terrain resistances and horsepower, why not. I cannot say that I,
per se bought my thunder-slow for its speed and mobility, but I
know why I did buy it and NOT THINK about, and thats getting
robbed horsepower on an already slow tank. Who would buy stuff
like that from the store? How about this, put out a public
test stage (I) nerfing FV4005 reverse, top speed, aim-time,
accuracy, engine....then concede the nerfs too severe. Have test
stage (II) leave the engine alone so HP/T doesn't get touched.
But silently, ninja nerf the engine anyway and not have people
understand it for 2 years. Why doesn't my Patriot handle
like E75TS, Renegade? Because its ninja terrain handling is as bad
as T34 and T30, that was not advertised on its sale. I have played
world of tanks for a decade, and its these under-handed,
dishonoring tactics which irritate me the
most. Why do IS6, Defender, 112, Bisonte, Somua
handle better than you'd expect? Well, they are the opposite, they
are given bonuses rather than nerfs. lolWhy can't we live,
shop, purchase actual listed values? Should things be hidden? And
even now, with people complaining about it for 10 years

Draschel: lightweight susp (the idea that most heavies have bad
terrain stats anyway, may as well buff track traverse for turning
and durability)Periscope drive (the idea that med-kits should
be immediate go-to for fixing stun time, and view range works ALL
the time, not SOME of the time)Either slot works (mobility
makes the tank more flexible, firepower allows for a better side
scraper)
Both are perfect
for rotator mech, as it is boosted on firepower and mobile

people laugh. By playing, I mean play well. Don't use
those valuable insights in a tank class, and you will do 500
damage, 1 shot of it, in tier 9-10. Is that what people want per
game? Of course notNot even care about those valuable insights in
an artillery? You will still do 1,500 damage in said 9-10. This is
a huge boon for lesser skilled players All I am going to say

is it justifiable to claim that one thing is broken but deny that
others are? It is important, Jaguarz, because
people justify the endless griefing and nerfing of SPGs based
on its "brokenness." I don't mean on the forums. In the
game. I wouldn't care (and didn't) when it was just people
ranting on the forums, players hampering the SPGs on their own
teams, and opponents following me into my garage with their
comments. But that toxicity has boiled over to influence the
game developers, to make the game less enjoyable for a minority of
players to satisfy griefers who don't want to play SPGs and thus
don't care about those that do. So yes, I challenge
what was previously just bad rhetoric, because it is now bad
rhetoric that is used to curtail the gameplay of others. It
is a rationale that stems from poor sportsmanship and lack of
ability to empathize.

Draschel: Uniqueness, is the gentle way of saying it. Breaking the rules, is
the real thing that this class does in-game. Unique to SPGs,
or more of exclusive ONLY to SPGs? Exclusive is a dangerous word.
''Exclusive premium ammo'' was once the case, 2010-13. Exclusive
premium consumables? How about today, exclusive tier 10 juggernaut
tanks. When things are exclusive, they are problematic. Broken
isn't just because it is unique to the class, with the class
operating on fringes outside of normality in the game, it is
not just that. It is also that other classes don't have it. Keep in
mind, though SPGs were quickly added, the game started without
their presence. Though the concept and design probably was their
far before their 0.6- whatever first release, they were at first
not part of the game's combat triangle. Again, this presents alot
of problems of rock-paper-scissors -(catapult) I
am not creating anything. I am not conjuring explanations to cater
my needs. Tanks, factually directly attack their targets
through line of sight. Or if not through line of sight, through an
object that maybe breakable with still, a straight vector in
attack. Artillery does not do this. Tanks, factually cannot attack
beyond 720m. Can't even see at even shorter distances. Artillery
can. Tanks really need to aim to make their shots count, and to
bypass armor of opponents. Artillery don't and pray their shot
lands at least 10ft from what they intended to hit, and still some
pretty respectable damage can be caused. These are all very
distinct, factual contrasts. There isn't a subjective spin here,
this is what objectively is clearly seen Broken nature,
doesn't mean one thing. No one ever said it does. What breaks A,
doesn't necessarily mean what breaks B is the same as A. The case
of EBRs are different. The case for artillery is different. It is
easy to grasp. Do you want me to say everytime, that broken =
something (a class) imparted with exclusive qualities none other
get, that allow for the ''playing out of bounds'' that others
cannot do? Do you want that as the definition? Broken seems
alot easier. Even when artillery was a damage dealer
class before 9.18 re-balance to stun, it still produced less than
other classes. Not because of nerfs, but because of aforementioned
reasons for more crucial. Inconsistency, dependency, map rotation,
randomness, Etc. Nerfing for sure lowered their production, but
didn't change the fact they still produced less than other classes
and were far more inconsistent. Nerfing, is a reduction of stats of
something. Nerfing, is not a foundational change. A foundational
change, would be like the artillery stun re-balance. You cannot fix
through nerfs. You just lower stats. WG methodology here, is to
continue nerfing artillery, because they really do not know what
else to do at this point. They have tried 3 foundation changes, and
still it is amongst if not the most complained over thing.
Incessant. Because though nerfs are an ice-cool band-aid, they
don't work in reality. Nerfing ==/== fixing.Heavy tanks are corner
store of the game. They will outlast everything. They are the large
square blocks of the pyramid. Making artillery, new tank
destroyers fixes the issue. They are no different than TD now.
Problem solved. That is a fix. Without nerfs. In actuality, the
-SPGs- would all be buffed making them in line with
TDs. Because the four came first, before the outlier. And
because the four, mutually operate with similar restrictions and
mechanics, but the outlier is exclusive to its own. Every class is
different. Sure. Light tanks retain camo when they move, and have
better soft stats such as dispersion, terrain resisting quality.
They also repair coefficient quicker. TD have unique quality
too, they operate with massive camo net bonus exclusive to
them. But the thing is, they all are bound to say rules as
tanks are. No firing in banana arc. No attacking beyond 720m. No
vision beyond render circles. Aim your AP, or risk bounce /
miss. Push/share HP/focus/spot/contest, Etc. Be a part of the
team, directly. Artillery doesn't. Its an outlier. I am
more worried, truthfully of the people that confuse broken for
over-powered. And there are alot. While artillery certainly is
broken, it is no where near over-powered. If i wanted to continue
my long trek towards 3-mark my Jag Panzer, and continued with an
average of 3,300. What do you think is going to impede my progress?
A conqueror GC or 261, who deal 200-300 damage per minute to me? Or
a stealthy, nimble, well-rounded 140, 907, 121B who will track and
kill me in that said single minute. A strategically placed 279E,
Chieftain, Krannie holding up entire flanks, and farming people in
the process.....or an arty irritating people for splashes every
minute less than T100LT alpha (the lowest tier
10)

Link on message: #12917868

Draschel: What you are looking for to say, by definition is not
that but rather: ""If it does not share, or get limited by the
foundations, mechanics, limitations of every single
other class in the game"" It is by definition
itself an outlier, broken. Broken, is a misnomer here. What
people mean is ''operating outside of'' or
''ignoring'' Of course EBRs are broken. Everyone knows that.
Are you finding that out now?

ClarkSideoftheMoon, on Sep 18 2021 - 02:31, said: When you use the term, what measurements are you using to define
broken? What do you mean when you say it?
Link on message: #12917866

Draschel: To define broken, we first need to describe what is not
broken. I know there are a few examples, like old cruiser II
using 3.7in short howitzer, or T40 using 105 short howitzer, tanks
with extremely low shell velocity that can parabolically arc their
shots.....but this is extremely, very rare and situational. Pretty
much most tanks attack through direct fire. They attack through
direct fire with a max bead of their shells able to collide with
targets @ 720m. Artillery does not follow this motto at all, not in
the slightest. So, in the case where other classes are within
confines of having to be able to directly attack their foes,
artillery operates outside of this boundary. This is the definition
of broken. Again, continuing on. Whereas tank destroyers
can try to sit in the back in bushes, and do stuff ''sort'' of like
artillery.....they are again very limited becauseA) they cannot
shoot targets past aforementioned range.B) they do not arc their
shots in a curve. C) tank destroyers
typically fire majority of their shots, while being susceptible to
rendered spotting from enemy observers and then taking damage
artillery, very much different, on the other hand fire
majority of their shots, without fear of being spotted and
sustaining damage. Again, continuing on, other classes
directly contribute to making pushes at flanks, spotting, directly
attacking, focusing, and sharing. Artillery does not, it is an
outlier. Furthermore, arty taxes a teams resources, frequently
requiring guards set up for them. Other classes can operate, and on
game by game basis, do so on their own. Artillery solely, requires
the lending hand of other classes to even consider operating at any
level. The addition, and cap of skill and performance.
Whereas with other classes, the sky is the limit, no amount of
skills can be wasted, and it is not unheard of people averaging
tier 10s with 5,000 damage per match steadily these modern
times.....artillery is extremely lucky if it can manage even half
that, 2,500. A dark purple, 70% W/R, 11,000 PR player can manage
such incredible feats in a tank, but starts to frustratingly
struggle in an artillery. Because artillery doesn't have game
skills translate to potential like other classes. Artillery is
horrifically random, map dependent, team dependent, and operates
without concrete values as its characteristics. On the flip side, a
poorer performing player who would see himself managing poor damage
and performance in their tier 10s like 1,000 per match, can
astonishingly contribute far beyond their usual level by getting
1,800 out of a hat by using artillery. Again, the skills don't well
enough translate to artillery for potential, yet artillery provides
reasonable potential for any ''Joe'' to step into and
contribute. Elaborating moreso on this, but not on skill
itself - artillery doesn't require users to know of valuable game
intel, such as DPM, alpha damage, weakspots, accuracy, circle map
renders, Etc. Artillery just always operates outside of typical
game definitions other classes follow. I
hope this helps a bit.

and for some strange reason that's hard for people
nowadays.
Also, if you go to the newbie section,
you will see those asks more frequently.

DeviouslyCursed: I didn't say just playing makes you better. Also just wanting
or wishing you were better doesn't make you better either. Putting
in the work and effort is what makes you better. That's the thing
that most don't want to do.If you are not nitpicking your own
actions most if not all games, especially on losses, then you're
doing it wrong.

DeviouslyCursed: Crying about cheats and rigging is not asking for help. It is
the exact opposite.
Subject: Bring equipment back to low tiers

dunniteowl, on Sep 17 2021 - 08:42, said: Actually, I disagree. Hear me out... You can
limit equipment slots and that does do something, however it's not
the 'leg breaker' WG seemed to intend. What would make a
LARGER difference (especially since Equipment 2.0) is to limit Crew
Skills at lower tiers. We all have heard over time that this
game should have been called, "World of Crews." This is due
to the difference in tank performance that Crew Skills can
affect. The Crew Skills make a much larger overall difference
in how a tank performs than any 3 pieces of equipment can do.
At the picayune costs of Level 3 Equipment, any tier I, II, or III
tank can be outfitted with the full 3 slots of equipment with no
serious crimp on a scrub's pocket -- or of a Newb Player's.
If you could have only 1 Crew Skill available at tier I and II and
a maximum of 2 Crew Skills at tier III, that would make a much
larger difference on the "Official" level of Seal Clubbing.
Then it wouldn't matter how many battles they had at those tiers,
their ability to Super Crew their way to the Golden Club would be
kaiboshed right at the start. Just have the system 'gray out'
any skills past the Tier Limit of Skills allowed and "BAM!" good to
go. Out of three slots, there isn't a whole lot that Seal
Clubbers have access to that other players don't. It's not
like making credits at those tiers is tricky and it's also not like
they (WG) don't give out enough credits and gold for a New Player
that they couldn't afford a few pieces of Complex Equipment on two
to five different tanks in those tiers. Crew Skills,
though. Those are much harder to come by for New Players and
the 'level playing field' can be more readily affected by limiting
Crew Skills available at those tiers. Those Crew Skills make
a much larger impact overall on 'unleveling' that playing
field. And maybe don't allow Food/Lend Lease type consumables
(or maybe just limit all Premium Consumables to tier IV and above)
to reduce the advantage a crew can get with them at those tiers.
I believe doing this would go a much longer way to
'level' that playing field and be a bigger reduction to the Seal
Club ranks in those tiers. Limiting the Equipment Slots is
removing what little advantages the New Player COULD have at their
disposal that serves to reduce the impact a Seasoned Seal Clubber
can have with regard to advantages the New Player cannot hope to
have (lots of Crew Skills is a LOT harder to do than getting enough
credits to slap on 2 or 3 pieces of complex equipment. I
would also limit Bond, Improved and Bounty Equipment to tier V and
higher vehicles so that the lower tiers would not have that as an
additional imbalancing factor that more experienced players can
bring to those tiers that New Players cannot hope to have at all
when starting out in the game.
Crew Skills trump Complex Equipment pretty much every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Thoughts, ideas, rebuttals? GL, HF & HSYBF!

churchill50: I agree and disagree. I disagree about new players
having the credits to put complex equipment on their tanks. Sure
they could make the credits necessary to do that pretty easily. But
I don't think many do. I know that when I was a new player, I was
focused on getting the next cool tank, not equipment. I would bet
it's the same for a lot of other new players. New players also
don't understand how substantial the effects of equipment are a lot
of the time, so they're not as likely to get them. On the
other hand, I agree on several points:Crew skills make a
substantial difference as well. Especially with new players not
understanding vision mechanics AND not having sixth sense.
Experienced players can leverage vision mechanics to a ridiculous
degree.I fully support limiting players to 1-2 crew skills at low
tiers, as well as not allowing Bounty/Improved equipment in low
tiers. While limiting crew skills at low tiers would be
another amazing decision by WG, I do appreciate the fact that they
at least helped the situation by limiting equipment at those tiers.
I'd prefer to see both of them limited, but am happy with WG at
least limiting equipment.

churchill50: I believe they did. Looking at the tier 2 and 3 premium
tanks, they have the same number of equipment slots as all other
tanks at those tiers.

churchill50: I personally ran the 130mm gun. The 120mm gun gives you subpar
alpha AND horrible DPM. The 130 at least gives you alpha. The prem
pen is lacking, but workable most of the time. For equipment,
I ran V-Stab, Turbo (with mobility slot from Field Mods),
Rammer. The gun handling is pretty good, so you don't need more than
V-Stab. It's noticeably more sluggish than the tier 9, so the Turbo
helps give it some mobility to work with. That's especially
important given how disappointing the armor is, so you kind of need
mobility to make up for it. Rammer is a given.

churchill50: New players don't have the credits to put 3 pieces of equipment on
all of their tanks, so allowing 3 equipment slots just enabled
sealclubbers. That's not something any game should be
doing.Removing equipment slots from lower tiers was one of the best
decisions WG ever made for the health of the game in my opinion.

IMO. I actually hate close games where I did well, and we
lose because some timid wuss was too afraid to get his pixel tank
scratched. Most close games I lose are like that. When
I lose a blowout, I can at least appreciate the good play by the
other team. That's how it's supposed to be done.
Link on message: #12917172

DeviouslyCursed: Yes, the idea that a game has to be close to be enjoyable is
just dumb. I have no idea where it comes from. And before some
moron says it's about matching skill, no it is not. You can
landslide an equally skilled team, or even one that is better than
you. Regardless of how or why a blowout happens, as long as I'm a
part of the cause, I'm having fun. If I die early in a match,
I usually back out and don't even know what the end result of the
game was, other than if it was a win or a loss when it pops up. How
does whether or not the final score was close affect my enjoyment
of that match? If you are smart, you would realize it doesn't
affect it at all... EDIT: I too, also hate close losses the
most. Especially if I didn't do as well as I should have because
then I know the loss should have been a win, and it was my fault it
wasn't.
