Subject: Why WN8 is a Useless Rating!

TeriyakiTanker: There is no one stat that tells you how good someone is, they
pretty much all let you know if someone is complete crap but all of
them can be games. Platoons can inflate win rate, large
amounts of PR can be padded just by playing a lot of games, WN8 can
be padded by farming damage at the expense of winning. That’s
why you look at them together to get a better picture.

anonymizer, I am just average though (but since the title counts
green ones I gave my opinion anyway lol)

demonxshinigami, on Mar 03 2021 - 12:11, said: Why I play World of Tank? When I was a baby I was abandoned in
China. It was fate for an elderly lady to save me and I was adopted
into a loving family in the US. Fast forward to 2013, I discovered
World of Tanks. It became my favorite game. I would play until my
eyes couldn't stay open. I continued playing because of the
connections I made as well as my fascination for the machinery of
tanks. World of Tanks is a special game to me and I continue to
play it because of how it creates many new friendships and
experiences. I do Taekwondo and World of Tanks uses the same
coordination and teamwork that I use in my everyday training.
What it means to me? With my life experiences
and interest in tanks, World of Tanks is special to me. I am able
to drive tanks, many being relics from WWII that I have never
witnessed in person yet. World of Tanks is my getaway and where I
have fun times with my clanmates and get to know them as a person.
I wouldn't be able to meet a large variety of people without World
of Tanks as well as have so much fun with the game with all the
tanks and game modes provided. World of Tanks also helped me get
out of my comfort zone. I started streaming with Tanks and still
stream Tanks because in the end of the day it is my main game that
I enjoy and play.
DrucilaB, on Mar 03 2021 - 12:26, said: In late November I found myself with pandemic fatigue, frustrated
over isolation and constantly annoyed. The final straw came when
plans to spend time with a close friend in the military were
canceled. I needed a change. That change came in the form of World
of Tanks. I had watched my friend play for years, but was
overwhelmed with the minutia. However, I decided if I wanted to
spend more time with him, I needed to learn the game he
loves. When I told him I wanted to learn he patiently
took me under his tutelage. The first lesson was to think of the
game like a MOBA, I was a competitive MOBA player, suddenly it
clicked! He spent the next few weeks answering my every question
while I ground out my referral contract. Never losing his patience
or blaming me for mistakes. It helped our communication and I was
getting the one thing I needed, to spend more time with someone I
care about. Little did I know, that decision to play World of Tanks
would be such a positive force. By Christmas, I was
introduced to the twitch tanking community. I was immediately
embraced and found myself platooning in front of hundreds of
viewers shortly there after. Chat enjoyed trolling my terrible play
but also started taking time to teach me how to do things right and
become a better player. I couldn’t believe how welcoming and
patient everyone was! I was then asked to join Cheers Bro [CBRO]
and started to make some amazing friends. Lastly, and
perhaps most importantly, I was comfortable just being myself on
stream again. I had found people with the same morbid sense of
humor, ball busting attitude and general outlook on life as I have.
I was laughing again, and I wanted to stream again. All of that
could have never happened without World of Tanks. Now I
stream it 3 times a week on Twitch and have recruited a handful of
friends to the game as well. Plus between my clan and the twitch
community I am always surrounded by some pretty kick ars people.
Now if I could only get good at the game... ...oh and
the tank does in fact go pew pew! http://prntscr.com/10caymp
KavKouhai, on Mar 03 2021 - 14:32, said: OK MissD and Branis! So here's my story so far....It's
all my kids' fault! Scroll back to 2014. At that time my only
use for pcs was work. The idea of using them for play was
like "you gotta be kidding me." My kids were gamers and their
game of choice at the time was World of Tanks, they were both
in clans, doing clan wars and all that stuff, on teamspeak with
online buddies. Me - homeschooling mum - invoking the typical
parental "you should be outside and not parked in front of a
pc all day playing." You gotta add the whiny voice to get the
full effect, ok? So...my kids called me on it. As in
how can you criticize if you know nothing about it.
Pause. I'd been teaching them to be independent thinkers and
was now getting caught in my own trap. So I did what any
other self-respecting homeschooling mum would do - over Christmas I
secretly downloaded the game with brief pauses when I heard screams
from the peanut gallery saying they were lagging out and was I
downloading a movie or something. Thank you wargaming for
making it possible for a total noob to at least figure out what
"wasd" meant. Lol. WoT was my first game. Didn't have A
CLUE! After a couple of weeks I had to come out of the closet
and ask the kids for help. They did. They introduced me
to my first clan (run by another female tanker, Femm) and got me
going. Since then I've been in several clans, had all sorts
of positions, learnt a lot along the way and met some amazing
people. My stats are crap - still struggling from the "run
through the tank list, die and pick another" strategy that I
started off with. Trust me - it doesn't work! We've
gone from "dinner's ready, get down here" to "sorry, you'll have to
scavenge your own dinner, I'm doing clan wars." The kids have had
YEARS of mileage out of this. WoT is still my go-to. Yeah,
I'm hooked. But I've added forays into other games like
Borderlands, Minecraft, Genshin Impact. I help run a discord
server and minecraft server. I stream average gameplay on
facebook and am constantly amazed that people watch! You'll
find me at fb.gg/kavkouhai I'd love to be a light tank player
- those little buzz bombs are the bane of my tanking life - but I'm
smart enough to realize that my hand-eye coordination isn't fast
enough any more unless I figure out how to reset a few decades in
rl. You'll find me lurking in the backfield with my trusty td
or brawling with you face to face in my heavy. So what
does World of Tanks mean to me - it's expanded my horizons,
introduced me to amazing people that I communicate with on ts or
discord, given me a common language with gamers (I still get a
quiet chuckle when I talk to someone's teenagers and see their jaws
drop with an "omg, she's a gamer, she
understands!"
, and I'm still learning.
reeeses, on Mar 03 2021 - 15:25, said: In early 2014 I watched my dad play the game frequently, and as
someone who had never played video games before it really intrigued
me. He helped me make an account and tried to teach me how to play
but I still failed miserably at the game (I was only 12, but even
for a 12 year old I was hilariously bad). That didn't stop me from
having fun though, although I'm sure that my teams at the time
probably wanted to TK me for crashing into them and everything else
in my path and dealing maybe one shot of damage per battle. World
of Tanks introduced me to the gaming world, and since starting I
have played so many different games that I can easily say that
gaming is one of my biggest hobbies and passions in life. Over the
years I've been steadily improving at the game, and while my
thousands of battles of being a trigger-happy 12 year old who stuck
to artillery because I couldn't really drive still drag down
my stats to this day, I think I really grew as a player. I now
prefer TDs, can actually drive the tank without crashing into
anything, and actually make a positive impact on the game with my
damage dealt. I still can't play light tanks for the life of me
though, ha ha. While my wallet isn't thankful to World of
Tanks, I definitely am. It introduced me to gaming, and most
importantly to me, it brought me closer with my dad. We've been
playing it together for 7 years now (I still find that number hard
to believe) and I cherish every single battle that I get to spend
with him.
Felnora, on Mar 03 2021 - 17:59, said: I started playing about 6 years ago now, and admittedly it was
because I'd seen Girls und Panzer, and wanted to roll around in a
tank and blow some stuff up. My cousin and I started together
and got through the tier 7 Japanese tanks, because 'Duck Team' Type
89 ;p Eventually my brother started playing too, he's a WW2
buff, and was all about some German tanks, so I started over with
the American lineup to roll with him.
And now, it's mostly about staying connected with my family members who also game with some war game or another. You can only play so many MMO's, ya know. We try to aim for what I like to call the "Soft Meat" of the enemy tanks, while chit chatting about family stuff, movies, etc. Lately we have a Tiger II, O-Ho, and my T32 in a Platoon. Not the most effective platoon, but it's ours. I look forward to the nights where we have that super awesome match where we are not the '8's in a 10', and can rack up some real XP and medals... but still have a good laugh when my brother yells out "How did that bounce, it was all green?!?", and I say back something along the lines of, "Well what's your dispersion at? What equipment are you using? How's that crew training coming along?"
Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. It's all good fun.

When they got off work in the morning, they'd spend a few hours
online playing World of Tanks, platooning up together for some
battles before my husband would crash to sleep. About halfway into
the year, his co-worker moved to Florida.
Then my husband began asking me to come try out this game with him. "Hey hon, give it a try, you might like it." My reply was always, "Really? Blowing up tanks, I don't think so." It just wasn't my cup of tea.
Finally, I gave into his request and said I'd 'give it a try', just a few battles. Little did I know all the detail one had to do to play a few battles. Creating an account, setting up your crew and tanks, was a bit of an investment in one's time. The first few battles left me unimpressed. I was the fool rushing into the battle, 'pew, pew', only to get blown up in the first 30 seconds. My husband shrugged, headed to bed, and I continued on battling. I didn't get this game. But then around 10 battles in, I spotted a player with this name that really stood out. DefendYourBase. With a name like that and because he'd just carried the entire team and won us a battle, I PM'd him after the battle and asked if I could platoon up with him and learn some things. Sure enough, I listened to his advice, and won more battles. I ceased with the YOLOing as well.
Needless to say, 9 years later, I'm still here playing World of Tanks. Am I addicted?? Eyes her 54,382 battles. Naaaah. I've made some good friends, learned from a few élite players, yep joined some clans and have had a lot of fun with this game. Best of all, my win rate is better than my husbands. *wink* My own personal interest in the game is running light tanks and playing artillery.
So yeah, I'm still here 'giving it a try'! It's a good stress relief when I need it, it challenges me and quite simply put; and probably the most surprising of all, I'm 61, and I like the game.

husband was playing WOT and he wanted me to watch. He kept asking
me to play with him and since I liked the graphics of the game. I
figured why not give it a try. I did not realize how much fun I
would have smashing, crashing and blowing tanks up. I also like the
fact that you can customize your tanks to what you want them to
look like. It gives it your on personal style. Anyways now my
husband and I are spending more time together as we play every day.
He teases me because I have only been playing for about 4 months
and he has played for 3 years and I am beating his scores. Love it
and can't get enough of it.

abandonando otra vez.

TragicLoss: That's such a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing!

TragicLoss: Pandemic fatigue is REAL and it's definitely affecting a lot of
people. I am so glad that you found an outlet in World of Tanks.
Welcome to the community! I'm happy you found people that you can
enjoy connecting with!

TragicLoss: That's so incredible! You seem like such an amazing and open-minded
mother to your children. You definitely gave them an amazing
example when you made the decision to 'try then criticize'. They
must appreciate that you can spend time with them in a shared hobby
that they were interested in first. Kids tend to get dragged into
whatever their parents like doing, whether they find it interesting
or not, and it's so cool to hear this kind of story where a parent
joins their kid even though it might not be 'their
thing'.
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much!

even after multiple years of marriage seems like a great way to
keep the love going!

TragicLoss: Yeah, I feel that so much. Brain likes to go "SMASHY" and "KABOOM,

Basically this with a couple more things you should know. Every two weeks clans get special missions that give them access to special rewards, nothing big but you can earn like 20 directives of different kinds and 6 of the 20k exp crew books. You can get these pretty easily and over the course of a year it’s pretty solid. Also when you leave a clan you can’t join a new one for a day or two.

to money harvesting until they add more map content. When people,
such as yourself, are drawn into this gimmicky pay to win scenario,
the game stagnates for those of us who have been playing and
contributing since 2010! I'm not suggesting they stop doing what
they are doing to generate a profit I am asking they expedite and
prioritize the design release of more map content. Initially maps
were released at a rate of 1 or 2 for each major update in the
first 4 or 5 years. Now it has dwindled down to about
once every 2 years for new maps (not reskinned) Then they
remove maps for balancing ( I call it removing every unique and
interesting feature that made them fun to play) So the result
is for every 5 maps produced, 2 or 3 are yanked not long after and
reworked for another long period before being re-release again
(often not at all)

Map design is not an easy endeavor. You have to create interesting locals that don't favor one side or another. Maps that were removed had this problem where one spawn point had an advantage over the other. Other issues like players getting to places they were not supposed to be. There is an entire degree specialization based on this in order to create a great play experience and even then there is no way to make everyone happy. Some players want 0 corridors and a flat plain with 0 hills to battle it out while other players are okay with corridors as long as there is a flanking option to back door the enemy team.

he and I play together since he knew I was big into driving tanks
in Planetside 1. I felt it would be a good distraction from
my wife being out to sea due to the Navy. I got hooked.
I'd always played MMO's and mildly some competitive shooters when I
felt like it but something about hooked me. This kind of, fell
right into place and I went hard. Consuming so much
information really kept my mind focused. Improving myself as
best I could. It gave me a bit of a sense of accomplishment
when all I could do was wait. But what really was there for
me was the community I found within World of Tanks. The
friends, the incredible support when things were hard. Even
now that I don't play much anymore, I'll never not have it on my
drive just to play when I can or when a friend asks me to.
World of Tanks, in a lot of ways, kept me going in difficult

that I met within it. Thanks WG. (My wallet hates you.)

It's truly inspiring to see the amazing connections you find when you open your horizons to new and different interests.

often call Brazilians monkeys or even worse and it's just the tip

very well there's a lot of machism, verbal abuse and other things
that doesn't worth comment. Many many times i want stop

My husband and our neighbor started playing WoT in early 2015 and tried really hard to get me to play too. I always thought they played the stupidest and most boring games (they still play different games every weekend). Then finally I decided to try, didn't tell them until I was probably at tier 3 or 4 and of course they made me platoon with them and somehow I ended up being their arty helper. I played on and off, still mostly arty even without them. Then in late 2019 I got an idea to start live streaming my gameplay. It started really slow since I hadn't really interacted with the community, but now I have made so many friends! I'm also somewhat known for being a moderator for three CC's on Twitch: Claus Kellerman, WarChild and Oranjoman.
One day I hope to drive a real tank and maybe destroy a car with one too... Either by crushing or shooting it, both would be fun!

Reppic27, on Mar 03 2021 - 08:17, said: I think you missed my point. We should stay on topic.
I'm allowed to voice my opinion but don't defend QB against
my one-sentence opinion. I pride myself on not being blind. I don't
"love" any streamer in particular, I watch several and I keep my
expectations and favoritism down to earth. So far I've given
you the benefit of the doubt, let's keep it that way. You're not a
blind fanboy and I'm just giving you my opinion. Now
to elaborate, psychologically speaking, there are issues with
someone over celebrating achievements. Celebrations / celebrating
are usually consistent with the achievement and the effort/energy
used to acquire the achievement. Exceptions apply, deviations occur
but extremes usually pinpoint something different. When the
celebration is over dramatized, there's an underlying issue. You
brought up Tom Brady, let's go there. I've never seen Tom celebrate
as strongly as QB (within physical limitations / spatial
constraints), and Tom won 7 Super Bowls, an achievement that dwarfs
anything QB has accomplished. So to me, something's wrong
there. If this example is not to your liking, I can
provide others. The aforementioned character trait is
a common one with lack of confidence. Also to point out an added
caveat, notice how he says "boys and girls" and never addresses his
viewership (live) as adults. Also a flag we're learning in
psychology. I guess I'm noticing these things more than most
because I'm currently knee deep in psychology-studies.
So again, my opinion, if you'd like to have a discussion on
psychological triggers and traits we can certainly go there but
overall I think my assessment of this character flaw is pretty spot
on. We all have them, it's just important no one idolizes any
streamer because of misguided conceptions.
Link on message: #12770983

TeriyakiTanker: If you are knee deep in psychology studies you should be aware you
don't diagnose people without actually talking to them.........
just saying. It is just as likely that QuickyBaby has a
persona just like a lot of other streamers. It is his job to
be "entertaining" and he obviously plays to his crowd, you just
need to look at his old content compared to his later content to
see that he puts on a show. And frankly considering he is by
far the biggest content creator for WoT it is working.

between breaking someone's finger and getting arrested. And
committing murder, and getting arrested. It is called severity. Are
both villainous? Surely, but look at the severity between the
two. Cheat to get a powerful, single tier X tank at the
time, exclusive to a few? or how about cheating to get
multiple powerful tier IX and X tanks, exclusive to a few, while
also moving hundreds of fluid dollars of prohibited expenditure,
over a product they have no right to monetize and make transactions
in that way. We aren't even talking about cheating

he played Battlefield a lot and used to tell me one of his dreams
was that I would fly a helicopter and he could run the gun. I
wished I could stand to play a game like he liked so we could do
that together. He started playing tanks and I would watch him
sometimes. I learned how to tell the score and what was going on so
I could see if he was interruptible at any given moment. It didn't
bother me to watch as much as other 3D games. We had a second
gaming rig, so I tried playing in secret to surprise him, but
actually I couldn't get past boot camp I was so bad! I set the game
aside. Then COVID came, and I quickly bored of Netflix
and I decided to try again. He encouraged me to try actual rounds
instead of being stuck on boot camp. His clan were all welcoming
and played low tiers and gave me helpful pointers ("Don't
drive in front of the opponent's gun!" ). I practiced a lot, even
when he wasn't playing to try to become an asset rather than a
liability when we played together. I would use the kill cam to
learn good positions for next time. Well, from there it's
the usual hook. I'm now just as likely as he is to be the last one
to turn in for the night because I was working on one last mission.
I'm always talking to him about my plans for my russian heavy crews
and what order I'd worked out so that my extra radio man would end
up in the KV-2 or which tank to pick from the steel hunter rewards.
We have side-by-side battle stations now. Its not quite the
same as the helicopter dream, but I like light tanks and forward
mediums and he likes TDs, so it's pretty close!

T54Mod1, CS52. It is over-powered and powerful, when the user knows
what all there is needed to know. Positions, maps to cancel, DPM
numbers, lineup matching, Etc. In addition, it has its
old-timer TD camo values, lopsidedly high without any other
Tier VII TD even close. E25 has more camo moving than T28HTC

Type64 Likewise, although Ensk/Himmelsdorf are great for
making money and exp because these fights are generally over
quickly - they aren't friendly choices for tanks like
Type64 or T-50-2. I'd much prefer more balanced maps that favour
both heavy or light, like Paris, Pilsen, Ruinberg. Heavily tanks
can lazily roll into their towns, while still being able to defend
cap, whereas there is ample ground to cover in fields for
light vehicles, not like a laughable field provided in
Ensk Tier 6 is greatly concerned about balance. I would say
Cliff, Westfield, Minsk, Studzianki, ghost town, fishermans bay,
glacier are great choices - as they provide flanks for each
class of vehicle to do well in. Maps like empires
border, El Halle, serene coast, Arctic, fjords, mountain pass, live
oaks just turn way too campy because of laziness, all the bushes
around cap, Etc. The amount of commanders is clans that are
msot often subpar, that just sit in spawn camps in maps like El
Halle, Fjords, Arctic - its staggering. I don't see the
reason WG is so obsessed with littering caps with nearby choke
points with bushes and foliar cover, like Fjords. These maps
need to go in skirms
Subject: Artillery vs. Air Strikes

Draschel: Has to do with call-down time. amount of delivered munitions,
and area of affect. An artillery bombardment, arrives sooner
and scatters several rounds in fired for effect. It arrives much
sooner, there is a greater overall coverage, though less damage per
individual ordnance. An airstrike munition, arrives in a
longer duration sequence, dropping single delivered bomb. It takes
more time to arrive, has greater area of effect per ordnance,
greater damage, but is a single drop. Front lines
strikes are generally different, in effect. These
weapons are generally most effective in tier 6. Even low SH level
artillery, can cripple something like OI or AT8, ridiculously
armoured tier 6 vehicles. A fully upped SH level single artillery
bombardment bomblet, I have seen can do over 400dmg to an OI.
Several rounds are fired, and can easily kill any target. By tier 8
though, the effectiveness is severely reduced. I have seen even low
protected vehicles get caught inside an artillery firestorm, in the
center and survive, like FCM50T and Prog46. Airstrikes do more
damage, but again are harder to use because of call-time
requirement. By tier X, the skirmish off-map consumables are the
least effective. Tanks like object 268V4 or Maus, can literally
wade through the explosives, and not even take 1/3 HP
damage.

Advanced, should be a skill.CVS should be dropped to 5% for all
movement, stationary and 7.5% behind foliar coverage camo
penalties, but be a commander skill not equipment

Draschel: While a blanket EULA statement, may certainly dissuade a
great majority of legal action, it is important to note that law is
up to the interpretation and debate, to which where you are
locally, or where the product is offered. As part of the
entertainment sector, offering a product for sale, then allowing a
sale to take place and thereby in the future changing that sold
product, to something the initial interaction wasn't for? While
yes, certainly I cannot speak informed of what EU, or RU laws may
be - that certainly doesn't look good in a Canadian courtroom.
Would it be expensive? Probably, would it be worth it? Probably
not. Would a judge give a crapabout a defining EULA over services
sold, if he were to self-compare it to other means of sold
entertainment? Heck no.

Draschel: Think of it this way. War gaming cannot prove, to 100%
ability, who, to whom, and what are at fault. Heck, this was a
time before WG did their massive anti-cheating algorithm campaign.
Simply put, alot of this is here-say and blame can in no way be
pin-pointed. Did people cheat for their T-22 Med? Most surely did.
Do people cheat for their ranked battles kamp panzer and/or concept
1? They certainly have, did clans and individuals cheat for 907
tanks and VK7201 and Chieftain? Yes. Do people as we speak right
now, cheat for object 260 and 279E? Sure do, cheating comes in all
forms, shapes, and sizes. Paying a third party service to command
an account for money, to undertake tasks and missions, is cheating.
As per breaking WG monetization rules. But people do it back,
forward, left, center, and right. How can we, as people blame
solely, T-22 wranglers, when people cheat to this moment for 279E?
Cheating is all-around us, and much of it is fool
proof. That said and done, the solution is simple. Coat
the entire T-22 Med skin black or charcoal, or dust gray - and call
the Tank T-22 Medium-B as in (B)lack, like WZ111 Tiger, T-34 Heavy
Black, or IS-6 Black. Nerf the original T-22 Medium more, fire rate
dropped down to 7.06, view distance drop down to 390m, accuracy
drop down to 0.40, pen drop down to 246/310mm. So absolutely no one
wishes to play the tank again, and keep the new and upcoming T-22
Medium (B) with the planned changes. At any rate, will
this all make a difference? Certainly not. Even the upgraded buffed
T-22 Med is massively behind in DPM, terrain resistances, track
traverse, camo values VS the object 140/907. Why would clans, or
people for that matter care too much about driving a tank that
struggles in dirt and grass (off-road) that has less camo
value, and has the DPM of T-54 in tier 9, nevermind 140 and
907. T-22 med has 1 thing, the annoying gimmick of armour in an
unique situation, that is it.
