Then all the new "best" players think they were better than what came before. Except, they aren't. Games that have maintained an e-sports presence may be an exception, such as LOL, DOTA 2, Counter-Srike, etc.

DeviouslyCursed:  I was addressing the "more low rolls than high" part, not the mercy rolls. If by mercy rolls you mean just low rolls or bounces in general, I'm going to say "BS." If you mean the tank would have been destroyed, but it was close so the game rolled a saving throw and if it passed, the tank stays alive with 1 hp, that's a different thing. I was trying to keep track of the "1 hp left" times versus other numbers from 2-9, but I ran into an issue of simply noticing "1" more than the others when I was trying to keep track. 1 hp tanks stand out. 2-9 not as much. So while I was recording more "1 hp left" occurrences, I can't say for certain if it was just me missing the other numbers. This of course has to happen in mid to top tier. Low dmg auto guns in tiers 1-3 would throw it off. But when you have guns that do 300+ damage, having 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 hp left should all at the same frequency. I don't know of an easy way to check it unless there was data on damage for each shot somewhere. You can simply exclude HE, then see which numbers occur more often under 10, if any. If 1 damage kill shots are a lot more frequent than the other numbers up to 9, then that would indicate 1 hp left is occurring more often than random chance would allow, and would basically prove a "mercy save" system was in place. Now, that's still not giving any player an advantage, because if that was in effect, we'd all have that chance for it to work for us, and against us.

DeviouslyCursed:  Why can't you realize that even with equal RNG, or even with no RNG at all, one side is still going to lose. They will also still subject to the snowball effects that cause landslides. It's like you think if RNG was removed, both teams would somehow win. And after 3 minutes, even with no RNG, you would still be able to tell who was going to win most battles. I always ask but just get deflections. But I will ask again: Why would WG need to program any type of system to manipulate RNG, when pure randomness will do exactly what everyone is crying about, such as pull people towards 50%, cause streaks both good and bad, and along with team size limit the maximum upper and lower win rates players can achieve. No manipulation is needed. EDIT: I removed the insult, b/c I'd rather people try to respond to this and not get distracted. It is difficult keeping people on task.

Mercy rolls, life saving throws, are very much a thing. You ever complain about M53 M55 hitting a target for 47 damage one time, then the next against the same tank is 427?  Only thing is, when you dealt the 47, the guy had 50 HP left. You remember that stuff. All the time. And when you deal the 427 damage roll? It was inconsequential, the guy had full HP. It is how this game works. Big reason why HE changed

Draschel:  Since the dawn of time, WG has been trying to re-balance this sort of thing. Still, do this very day, it is an ongoing effort. There is no such thing as press 2 and click for free damage. No such thing. The clsoest thing was FV183 and 4005 before, with HESH. And now that is gone. If what you mean by press 2 and click for free damage as 330mm med tank HEAT, you are very very very very wrong. Obviously don't play high tier attentively, intuitively enough.I see 350 HEAT from 121B and VK7201 bounce all the time. A daily basis. And not even against tanks you would think, like 268 V 4 or Badger, but even milder things like IS7 / 113.

Draschel:  Please, do not tell me you are regularly, this rigidly naïve. Please. The tank has a top speed, meaning a maximum speed it can attain and maintain on its own power. However, with a horsepower per tonne limitation of 11.20 (medium tanks tend to average 15-16HP/T) its drastically low for a 40,000kg medium tank, it will never achieve this top speed unless being pushed on hard paved surfaces, or going downhill on favorable slope. Seriously, tanks usually this vehicles weight, have engines more like 600-800 horsepower, not 450. As for representation and comprehension, its not for WG to list an ''''effective attainable level speed'''' statistic. That is for you to hypothesize, and learn to understand with experience, evaluating many attributes such as HP/T, terrain resistances, track traverse, weight. This isn't grade 3.  Because the tank says 1,800 damage per minute, does it always mean every minute in your battle, you will be obtaining 1,800 damage firing off ammo? That is not how numerical quantity works in a physical, experienced scenario. There are plenty of factors which influence a statistic. Please, there is no room here for such naivety. 40 TP can have 105 gasoline, rations consumable, clutch braking, off road, BIA, Bonds ventilation, Bonds turbocharger, Grousers, ventilation direction  -  and it will still be f--- snail slow. AC4, PZ IV schmulturm, Thunderbolt, Chi-To,  Firefly VC  are all the exact same. Slow.

You also seem to not be taking in things already known about the human mind, such as its tendency to think random doesn't involved the streaks that random rolls actually produce. Yes, Dunning Kruger as well (ie people looking for a reason their stats don't reflect how good they just know they are, "something's wrong here!" ) You also messed up a part: if it feels like something is wrong, it is usually best to proceed as it something were wrong, especially if it has life altering implications. It is not always an indication, and certainly isn't proof, that something is actually wrong.

It is safer and more beneficial to your survival if you perceive all the threats, including many that aren't actually there, than if you ignore one that was real and it ends you. Of course, this causes problems when you are trying to determine what is actually real. It's why data is far more important than "just knowing." If WoT MM or RNG is as rigged as the "It's Rigged!" crowd says it is, it should be fairly easy to collect enough data to show it. If it is so subtly rigged that it would take 1000s of battles to prove it, then I hate to tell you, but your mind isn't going to notice it. This is why no amount of personal testimony is going to "prove" any rigging. You are going to need data. Otherwise all you are doing is confirming Apophenia (and other cognitive biases, psychological errors, and logical fallacies), over and over again.

They changed that a very long time ago though. Their month long missions for IS-6 and such also used to include xp from prem account, daily x2, and events such as x5 or weekend xp specials. They changed that after the T34 or the WZ-111. Can't remember which.

Keep in mind if you have something that shows overall shot damage, you have to account for kill shots usually doing less damage. If you don't have any evidence, it's just wild assertions, and can be dismissed with no evidence as well. Draschel: Correct. But again as I have emphasized, the average player NA is 48.8%? And their efficiency is what, 1,400? This is the camp of player caliber, that simply seeks to hit the target. And deal whatever lotto max allows them too. If a pen, great. If not, whatever and hope it was free damage. 600 free damage is still great, especially if its a perfectly side scrape E75 on a corner. But we are talking the type of person, that runs outer camo, has all of  -camo/BIA/firefighting/core skills/repairs-  and runs bounty/bonds equp, and a ventilation directive, a mix of AP/HESH, already adding advantageous field mod. - these people only seek to garner a splashing hit on targets of opportunity. Like a ridiculous snap shot, or a wheely lucky hit, or an HE low health kill steal. Within battle conditions they are using the thought process they cannot waste a shot, or settle for a splash, and are OUT TO PEN SHOTS, for 1,100 or 1,700. Dealing 500 isn't acceptable, unless circumstances behind it led to it.   The success to either FV183 or 4005, aren't really related to their attribute camo, consistency, presence. But rather to the map awareness, positioning, and luck. Much like KV2 and OI. Which makes them unpopular tanks to begin with amongst the competitive ranks, but extremely popular in average and fun enthusiasts.

Draschel:  Really, the tank was improperly hyped. As a result of what most streamers anticipated, its very mediocre.  Meh.  It is a WG tactic, for others to come.And rightfully so, pioneer premium tanks in tier 8 were Meh, as well. Lowe, KV5, Mutant 6, Type 59 weren't strong. They relied solely on MM skew But all things considered, Strv K is not terrible. Not good, sure. But terrible, doubtful. A mix between an incompetent Phase 1, Cent 7/1, and Emil II.  While you are not fast like kamp panzer and Concept 1, you certainly are faster than heavies like VK4502, E75, ST-I. The low DPM? Well, consider the DPMs of tanks like progetto, VK4502, Chen, 777 - and Strv is no stranger. My biggest complaint with the tank, seems to be the speed cap. Whereas Emil 1951 has 45, Strv has unfairly been capped to 40. I think 45km/hr would have done wonders for Strv, because with its tracks and HP/T, it is already agile.

DeviouslyCursed:  Actually, it was rare to have 15-0 or 0-15 wins/losses because the +3 or +4 tier spread meant if the lowest tanks got spotted, they pretty much insta-died. I don't have data on how often it occurred back then, but it did seem to happen less. But I will admit I could be wrong. I just remember being low tier in those fights, and my goal was to stay out of the way and maybe get a shot or two of damage in before my tank exploded the instant an enemy looked at it. It didn't mean the battles were any less lopsided, it just meant there was easily killable chaff on each side.

DeviouslyCursed:  There is no reason to reset it to blank, because its assignment does not have any effect if you're not using a piece of equipment that benefits from the slot. In other words, it acts like a blank slot already. The fact that you are still talking about trying to reset it to a blank slot indicates you have not learned ANYTHING from this thread. Also the fact that you don't understand what those two little purple chevrons mean on your vents strongly indicates you purchased that account. But just in case you didn't I will try to explain for you again. The indicator below the slot only lights up if you have a piece of equipment in the slot that is getting a benefit from the slot's specialty. The regular vents make the mobility slot light up, because they are getting a benefit. The Bond Vents (two purple chevrons) do not get a benefit, so the mobility light does not light up. The light itself does NOTHING for your tank. The only thing it does is boost the bonus of the piece of equipment in that slot. The light indicates whether the item is getting the bonus or not. It is the equipment's bonus that affects your tank. In other words, if you spend 200 bonds to take your bond vents off, and replaced them with regular vents, the light will come on again. But your tank will actually have less of a bonus if you do that. And btw, you getting snarky and insulting people who clearly know more than you do and are trying to help you, indicates you are a crappy person in rl. If you have any sense of dignity, you would apologize to anyone you insulted.

DeviouslyCursed:  And in typical fashion, you spout off without knowing what you are talking about. They opted for a replay that gives all the data for the match (or at least what your client had access to), and you can look around and see things you weren't looking at before. The replay is actually recreating the game environment. In order to do that, it needs the same game client the replay came from. If they had made it into a simple replay clip, you could always watch them, but you would only ever be able to see what your screen showed while you were recording. Similar to if you used a recorder of your own. Their replays are vastly superior to a lot of replay systems, but the result is the replaying client must be the same as the recording client.

DeviouslyCursed:  This is why people insist on a replay when some idiot spouts off about cheats or impossible things happening. Your tank wasn't faster before. There are all sorts of considerations. Were you going downhill in a tank that has trouble reaching it's top speed? Were you going uphill in a tank that can reach it's top speed easily and climb without losing speed while the heavies slowed down? Was there a terrain difference (one time on pavement, the other across rough terrain?) As far as not getting spotting damage: you do realize that if you see something, and someone else shoots it but they can see it too, you get 0 assist for that, right?  Or that if someone else is lighting it and you just think you are, but you're not, you are going to get 0 credit for that situation too. There is absolutely no equipment set up that you can use that prevents you from getting assist credit. There seems to be a lot you don't understand about the game.

I lost so many papers due to the computer crashing. I eventually realized it only happened when the blanket was there. Well, you always had occasional crashes back then, but it was frequent with the blanket.

DeviouslyCursed: Always interesting to watch the last replay or two of matches you don't remember playing. I can't help but think "so this is what it's like being a low 40%'er..."  Man I was playing really, really bad. On a side note, I literally just discovered that if I pet my cat with my headset on, when you touch their head/ears and you get that small static spike you can actually hear it 'click' in your headset. Which is a little concerning considering the static charge is in your hand and the cord and plug to the headset is no where near my hand or the cat. Weird. I'm guessing the electric discharge travels over your whole body even though we only feel it when it is concentrated at the point of contact, and it is somehow picked up by the headset. This was actually more interesting than my drunken stupor replays.

DeviouslyCursed:  Got through rank/tier 4, so 40% discount. Basically made it the cost of a normal tier 8 prem heavy by itself. I am reminded why I don't grind though. Win Rate takes a massive hit when you play past the point of really wanting to play. Probably won't do anything like that again.

No, it's not just an exception either. I explained that steamrolls aren't isolated to just pubs, skirms, advances, and clan wars. Some people pin them on just bad players or uneven teams when it's really just a snowball effect, once it gets rolling it's a bit difficult to stop. While rofl-stomping bad teams is a lot more common, it's not impossible for a very good team to blow a huge lead because they stopped taking things seriously. Is it fun? No. It happens in every game and isn't something that can be completely avoided. 

Draschel:  Snowballs start from somewhere. WHY is there a snowball? A bad person yoloing, yoloing most common done in a fast tank. That's 1,400 HP for a tier 8. And s--- just continues downhill from there. Someone sees a yolo, and a bad person often wants to join in. There could be 1,400 more, now up to 2,800 or 4,200. and not just the detracted HP, but a robbery of a teams guns, and speed. While yes, the snowball effect is certainly in play, that initial clod of snow starts from somewhere / someone, which is very likely an early yolo from an incompetent clown.  The other reason is failure to assess position (or know position) which often leads to victories (or defeat) in specified maps. For instance, teams placing huge amounts of forces in dumb flanks like Lakeville valley, Overlord beach, Cliff  low road.  But  in reality, if the tanks that go these flanks these maps, are fortified with people that abandon the useful flank because they see their team is being potato - though still a loss these games can be very long, and certainly aren't a 15-3 farm simulator. Because you get a concentrated team effort, in a small vicinity - and although no map control they can be incredibly dangerous to approach, though not a winning strategy I repeat its really not how teams lose 15-3.  Blowouts are due to incompetent people not being patient. Its where a clod of snow is formed, is tossed, gains traction and gains size and can't be stopped.
