in the "operation" (Control Tower or Approach Control) must have a
grounding device (usually a dragging bit of relatively small linked
chain) that stays in constant contact with the floor. A few years
back a controller walked the full length of the TRACON after
getting his position assignment from the supervisor, apparently
built-up a static charge from the walk, touched the headset jack
receptacle (for dual-pronged 1/4"

and wiped out the comm panel for that position. No
comms, landlines or frequencies available. The panel was blanker
than my ex-wife's brain. vectormoe
DeviouslyCursed: I see your ex-wife's empty brain, and raise you an
ex-wife that ran up 40K in credit card debt (60K by the time the
divorce was final). But yeah, back in college I used to
wrap a comforter/blanket around me when the dorm was cold. I lost
so many papers due to the computer crashing. I eventually realized
it only happened when the blanket was there. Well, you always had
occasional crashes back then, but it was frequent with the blanket.
