View Postionicafardefric, on 19 July 2017 - 04:26 AM, said: "all the professional players and teams have attracted more and more viewers season after season". Must be living on a different planet. Nobody is interested in WoT e-sports. The reasons are obvious. 1)the spectators don't get a first person view of the players, the only see them in 3rd person, so three's no way to see how they are aiming or how they are moving the camera (or at least that was the case the last time I tried to watch it). Imagine people watching cs:go only watching the match from a 3rd person view - how popular do you think that would be? 2)the interface is counter intuitive to the actual game -lasers pointing, all tanks revealead for both teams. 3)The focus is more on the players, less on the actual tanks and gameplay. 4)the comentators are bad, like in really bad. 5)The spectator camera is all over the place, it constantly jumps from player to player. You can't see appreciate the positions and thinking behind the scenes when the spectator is spazzing out like a hamster on caffeine, not focusing more then two seconds on a player. 6) gold ammo takes all skill requirements away - they just point and click. 7)unbalances in tanks - you'll notice both teams are entirely made up by the same two tanks. 8)Corridor maps don't make for much entertainment. 9)Waiting times between the games are longer then the games themselves. You attempt to fill it up with the same bad comentators and boring analysis. We are there to see plays, not people talking about plays. This is what I came up from the top of my head, in about 30 seconds. You have more time and professional people to look at this, right? Then why are you so blind to the obvious?

Ectar:   1) Player PoV has been in game since April 2016, it's regularly used to show the where the player is aiming and what he sees 2) the Laser pointing view is very very rarely used. It's only in slow parts of matching to see where a tank may be aiming.  - You say the UI is confusing as it's different, that's a fair point, I always try to explain what viewers are looking at for those not familiar with the esports mode - You use Counter Strike in a previous example and yet that game as a spectator sport almost constantly has the xray vision on to show you were both teams are at all times. Well, that's why you can see both teams on the minimap for World of Tanks esports mode, to help viewers understand the positioning of the teams (It's something only visible to spectators). 3) The focus i'd say is split on the players and the tanks along with the tactics. We always try to talk about why certain tanks are picked and what we expect from them.  4) Personal choice I guess, but are you watching the EU, NA, RU or APAC regions, and if so, what season did you watch? 5) The spectating we have now is arguably the best it's ever been. It will always have to jump from vehicle to vehicle or angle to angle to catch all the action.  7) It's vary rare you'll ever see a team made up of only 2 tanks. I think I've only seen that on Cliff and it's not really a reliable tactic (as otherwise everyone would be doing it). 8) I agree maps could do with work, but we can only work with what we have and the maps are chosen specifically to avoid being too favourable for one side (the teams swap sides during a map remember) 9) We have 14 players to be ready remotely when playing a match. Normally it goes smoothly but it's very easy for a technical issue to crop up. We try to keep downtime to a minimum during broadcasts and there is always room for improvement. That's a fair point.  If you watched the Grand Finals 2017 you'll see that every gap between rounds we filled with tactical segments talking about what just happened and using an enlarged map analysis to explain it. I felt it was the best post match analysis we've done at a finals and hope we can do more stuff like that for the regular season.   Thanks for the feedback. I hope your feedback is based on the most recent season. It has changed a lot from how things looked 2-3 years about.

Ectar:   You do understand the concept of a European Championship right?

View Postmarlen_marksman_accurate, on 02 July 2017 - 12:03 PM, said: evrything is paid  i mean when you enter the tournament they pay all the stuff hotel, food and trip  you dont need to pay nothing no?    and another qwestion i have tier 7 is good or no?

Ectar:   For the trip to gamescom if you qualify,  travel etc are all covered as listed in the rules. European Championship Offline Finals at gamescom: The teams that finish in the top three at the end of the European qualifiers, and the team from Germany (as the host nation) will be eligible for the finals in Cologne during gamescom 2017, on August 24 and 25. The cost of travel and accommodation will be covered by Wargaming for all participants. All participants are required to be physically present at gamescom to be able to play in the finals. Any participant under the age of 16 will be required to travel with a parent or guardian. The cost of travel and accommodation will be covered for that person. All the participants will require a valid passport or ID card and, if necessary, the relevant legal authorization (VISA) to enter Germany. The players will receive a separate offline rulebook and guidelines when they qualify. Players should show a high level of professionalism while conducting themselves with locals, staff, and organisers.    It's a tier 8 tournament so everyone will be playing tier 8 tanks. You'll won't get fair only using tier 7.  It's highly recommended that you have played some 3v3 at tier 8 already to know what you're getting into and the tactics involved.   Common tanks that will be used will be the 252U Defender, AMX 50 100, M  41 90 GF and the VK100.01. Lorraine 40t or Skorpion may be used too.   With all the recent buffed tier 8 premiums there is only a few regular tech tree tanks that are viable or can keep up with the armour needed or damage output.

Ectar:   I look forward to seeing your team playing next season.  I mean with your reply indicating there is no skill involved at that level, so you should easily be able to enter your own team and win right? I guess you'll say something like "No thanks" or "Waste of time/I don't have the time" which is confusing to everyone reading this and your prior statement. By that I mean to the casual observer, as a player with over 37,000 battles you're clearly someone with a great deal of passion for this game (especially for the difficult and hard to understand/play Japanese heavies), and having the opportunity to play a game mode you feel requires no skill and has a cash prize? Well that's easy money isn't it? I mean it's right there for the taking.

The last thing I heard then was a mix of "It's complicated" and then "It's not a high priority/there isn't enough demand or expected demand".  I reckon you have as much chance of seeing the Saltire at this stage as you do the Chieftain to be honest. Nothing wrong there surely as the still have to run the company?   Maybe you also want to get rid of consumer protection law to help these poor little global companies turn a profit?

Ectar:   I'm just saying that people can change opinions or decisions over time.  If you're going to quote consumer protection law, then by all means contact your lawyer and have him discuss this with WG if you feel you have a case. That's something I can't comment on as I don't pretend to be an internet lawyer and for me personally, I'm not interested in this promotion or affected by it.

View Postchuckbullet, on 31 March 2017 - 07:36 PM, said:   In principle I don't disagree with your argument except Victor said the following and he should hold strong to his word: "... there is a special tank for each of these pre-order packages and you will never, ever, get this tank in the future.  So only preorders, those people will get those tanks.  .... never.. never...  Totally exclusive."   Source:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjrcccTN-HQ   There's no point trying to confuse right and wrong, when a CEO says an absolute then he really ought to stick to his principles or at the very least offer a fair and reasonable compensation due to circumstances changing.   In this case the only change of circumstances is wanting to cash in on more sales.

Ectar:   I'm not confusing right and wrong. I'm saying things change and Victor from 2011 could never have known what WoT in 2017 would be.  Did he say it?  Yes. Should he have said it?  Probably not.  Are WG now selling it? Yes.    I personally don't care either way. There is preorders from other games I came into later that I wish I new about. The value of something is what I decide as it's me who will be paying the money.  Personally I won't be picking up the mutant however I can see the appeal to some players. I'm pretty sure however the majority of players won't touch it consider the Patriot, Liberte and Skorpion were all recently available too.

View Postjabster, on 31 March 2017 - 07:46 PM, said:   That all sounds fine and dandy except when you realise that the reason WG are doing this is for the money and not only that they're dressing it up as dong it as a favour for the players.

Ectar:   True, but then every single time any other premium is available for a limited time (patriot, liberte, Skorpion etc etc)  that's not a favor for the players.  At it's core this is still a game created to generate money and the vast vast majority of players will never spend a penny. Money has to come from somewhere and well, you don't have to buy it if you don't want to.  I honestly doubt matches will be flooded with them.

View PostCoal_fighter, on 31 March 2017 - 07:46 PM, said: Why not just put the 59 on sale instead? They would still make a crapload of money and not piss off the " Old Boys " that pre-order this tank, make no sense to me.

Ectar:   Because you then lose a desirable goal for contests etc. The main draw of the Type 59 is that it's not commonly available. It's desirable because it's hard to get.

Ectar:   The pre-order ships in World of Warships were always advertised as being exclusive for a period of 1 year only from release. This was made clear to World of Warships players from the start as it was the same rules/plan following on from World of Warplanes (As they didn't want a repeat lock out like what happened with the WoT tanks).   The thing people need to remember here however is that things can change. We might not like that but it's always a possibility. What's said by almost anyone on anything can change at a later date due to new information, direction, opinion, desire, or point of view. You can love something now and hate it later. You can say you'll never do XYZ and find out in a few weeks it's actually quite good fun.  Companies can say they won't release ABC product and then suddenly there are 4 models on the market. Companies can pull out of markets all together to focus on a different project.  It's a changing world and whilst we don't always agree with how it changes around us, we have to make do with it the best we can. It won't always change based on how the individual wants it to be.   Yes, thing were said in the past and at that time I have no doubt that was 100% how things were at that time. Heck to me it was always a 100% this won't happen and I'm sure you can find quotes of me on the forums saying so in the past.  Regarding the pre-order tanks specifically however that was 6 years ago and I'm pretty sure this decision wouldn't have been made without first checking the servers to see just how many of these tanks are still played and how many players it will affect.   TLDR - It's always a mistake to say something absolute in the gaming industry as no one can really predict what games will explode or fizzle out. No one can predict what new technology will kick off and which ones will fall. Sometimes things will change that aren't great. Sometimes things change that are totally awesome. And well, sometimes things change that don't really make a difference to the majority of us.

Ectar:   In Twitch chat, it's always regarding as bad form/shady/rude/wrong to direct people from that channel to another streamer or youtuber. Why? Because no mater how you want to twist it, if the channels are not partnered in any way, you're driving viewers from one channel to another. It's one of the biggest no no's in Twitch and almost every single established Twitch channel has in their rules "Don't promote/advertise other other streamers"  - It's a straight up shitty thing to do. Ok, QB has a video that Circon doesn't have. But you're still essentially saying to Circon's viewers "Hey, go look at QB's content".   No one is saying you can't have your favourite content creators. If you want to promote them, use forums, use reddit, use your Twitter/Facebook - Just don't do it on what's essentially a rival content creator's platform.   You're lucky the downvote button was removed. Ectar:   The RNG is the same. Nothing is changed for the esports, they don't play on a different client or server.  The only difference is that premium ammo is more used as players want more reliable penetrations.  Premium consumables are also used all the time and no one complains about that.  It's not even that every shot fired is premium, the Batchat 25's for example rarely use premium ammo.  It comes down to range and what you're shooting at.  There is skill in knowing what shells to use and when. It's not just load premium and win.

View PostMr_Deo, on 20 January 2017 - 12:36 AM, said: WG needs to work with ESL and make League maps that are 100% balanced for both sides.. (Or, find a pattern where both teams will play both sides the same amount)... I think the ESL guys are not doing a bad job at running the thing, Please don't bring people like QB or Rita on to give commentary tho, I know why they do that but it is not a great thing to do.

Ectar:   The Wargaming League has been running for at least 4 year. QB & Jingles were part of the casting team for a single Grand Finals. That was an experiment to tap into respective audiences who perhaps didn't know much about esports and It worked to a certain extent. All other times the casting team for Season Finals, Regular Season and Grand Finals have either been normal casters, ex pro-players or WG staff.  I appreciate people have reservations about the amount of games Jingles has played recently on his account, but with Quickybaby you can't discount his game knowledge of the vehicles.  Tactically his knowledge of esports may not be there (I honestly have no idea how much he follows esports) but as someone with extremely high knowledge of the game and vehicles, you can't dismiss that and it's always good to have a wide variety of input on something like an analyst desk.   I feel there is room for people like QB, Circonflexes, perhaps even Foch at events. It just needs to be handled properly and they in turn need to be serious about wanting to take part. As I've learned myself it's not easy to just jump right into casting (either play by play or colour/analysis) without proper prep.  I agree that if someone shows no interest in esports or is pretty dismissive about it, then having them at an event wouldn't work.  Again there needs to be an obvious desire from personalities to actually want to participate and show they've done their homework.    At the end of the day everyone involved loves playing this game so when we all work together to promote it, only good can come from that.

Ectar: http://wiki.wargamin...Matchmaker_(WoT) Vehicle Weight Once enough candidates for a certain battle tier are found, the matchmaker tries to form two teams from them. For this purpose each vehicle is assigned a certain weight, and the matchmaker tries to keep the weight of both teams as equal as possible. Weighting is performed by vehicle tier and vehicle type, some vehicles are individually weighted, and for some vehicles there are special restrictions.   Sadly "type" of vehicle isn't always a balance. So you're not going to get equal balance of heavies mediums or TD's on each side per tier.  1 team could have heavier top tier tanks and then lower tier lights, whilst the other team has lighter top tiers and then heavier lower tiers  (happened to me last night and thought our team would lose for sure, we instead won only losing 3 tanks).   You got unlucky with your team, RNG of matchmaker sadly.  Panther 8.8 being 2nd top damage when your team has a Jagd pz 100, AMX50b, Bat Chat arty, T-10, Ferdinand and Jagdtiger- That tells it's own story.   Enemy STB appears to have carried with the T-10 and the 2 arty helping them. All other damage is "meh" really. Serene Coast is a good map for the STB if it gets good positioning.

Ectar:   Atm every team is capable of defeating each other and there is no clear "dominant" team.  Ding have swapped out a player but lost their first game. They should be the strongest on paper.  It's easy enough to make up points with only missing our first week of matches.

Ectar:   You know fine well I was a WG employee at the time of posting that.  The only difference to a portal announcement and someone posting on the forums is that one of the content team members add it to the website. It doesn't come with any more authority.

View Postcragarion, on 05 January 2017 - 01:41 PM, said:   That was not an Official WG announcement, that is someone who worked for WG answering a post in the forums, posts like that have been known to be wrong.   I want to see the Official WG Announcement where WG States they are unique rewards and will never be put on sale, show the me link in announcements, show me the link in news, show me the in the CW announcements rules prizes or whatever,  come on out of all the CW's and that there have been it can't be that hard to find one official post created by WG.

Ectar:   Got any examples of "posts like that which have known to be wrong?". I'm expecting something along "I think there was" or "I'm sure you said" without any source links.  Every post I've ever done during my time as a Community Manager or Coordinator regarding vehicle availability was always verified with the production team and the information was correct at the time of posting.   NA portal announcement on the new First Clan Wars Campaign (can't find the EU one, it was a good few years ago) the video is sadly removed now (no idea why) but you can find the transcript here

Block Quote It’s a promotion or prize vehicleThat is, not premium in any respect, it is not possible to buy them with gold at all or in any way. Therefore you can only get it by taking part in the global map campaign

Ectar:   You can find multiple examples of WG employees posting on forums in EU, NA, SEA and RU advising players that the Clan Wars reward tanks are for completing Clan Wars content. You'll find zero saying they're available via other means.   This is basically where we are: "I want an M60, 121B, T95E6, Obj 907 or VK72.01(K) how do I get one?"  "You need to participate a Clan Wars campaign such as Steel Corrida and score high enough. It's a reward for doing well in the campaign " "Is there any other way to get those tanks?" "Nope, there has never been any posts or articles to say they'll be available by other means. Multiple WG employees have confirmed in person, in Q&A's and on the forums that Clan Wars is the only way to get them" You -"Ok, well as there isn't a specific portal article saying these tanks are only ever going to be available from Clan Wars. I'm going to take that as it's still possible they'll be sold at some point or available via in-game missions"   Impossible discussion there dude. You're totally blinkered to what the reality is because you're so focused on wanting a different answer.   The tier X Clan Wars tanks are a reward and encouragement for players to participate in Clan Wars.  Just like tier 19 armour sets in World of Warcraft are reward for killing the bosses in the latest raid "The Nighthold".  Just like the Victorious Skins for League of Legends come with ranking gold or higher in a ranked season.     The method of obtaining the reward is as clear as day. It's an incentive and encouragement to participate in the contest/event.  "But I want it without doing the thing asked of me" counts for nothing I'm afraid and "It should be available for everyone" holds zero weight also.  Quite simply "says who?"  Who says it has to be fair and obtainable by everyone? What universal rule means everything in a game has to be open and achievable by all? Fairness has nothing to do with it when the god dam reason for the content in the first place is to encourage players to do a specific objective. - Either get involved or accept that not everything you want will always be available to you on your terms.

I got nothing from those airlines from Christmas.  I spend hundreds in Tesco this year on food... I got nothing from them for Christmas.   So.   What were you realistically expecting from Wargaming.  Why are you only expecting something from Wargaming and not say Steam, Ubisoft, EA, Activision?   And again, what did you base your expectations on?  You still haven't really said to anyone why you expected or why you should get it (and from a free to play game at that).

Ectar:   In Warships you get crates for Exp earned in-game. You don't lose Exp to open a crate. You can either go for a fixed specific reward depending on your desires, or gamble for potentially better reward. These include up to 250 flags (one of which gives 333% crew xp boost) or even premium ships. Getting just 1 crate barely requires that many games played.   The crate system in Warships is literately free stuff for just playing.  And you want to draw a negative from it? If Tanks had that system, it would be awesome.     This is a cool and new system for Tanks, looking forward to seeing what else comes from it

Ectar:   Wait woah woah woah. Freedom of speech is something commonly thrown about on the internet with people not knowing what the hell they're talking about.  It seems to mainly stem from any American mentioning the First Amendment which in the USA  is a right for people to put across their opinions and ideas without the government censoring them.
In other countries world wide the term "Freedom of Speech"  has very different standards regarding what's acceptable or not. The majority of them don't allow national, racial or ethical targeting. (like for example deliberately trying to upset a nation of people by using common ethnic slurs).  Freedom of Speech is not a free pass to say whatever you want and act like there is no repercussions or subject that is out of limits.    Now this forums is not administered by the government of any country.  Your access to these forums is not a right, it's a privilege granted by a private entity based upon you accepting and following rules and guidelines set by that entity.  If you disagree with those rules you're free to stop posting.     Sorry to chime in with this, but when people name drop "freedom of speech" pretty much most have no idea what that term actually covers them for (and that's before we get into the many differences the term covers depending on which country you are based).

Please remember that the purpose of this section is to discuss clan related matters and do so in a civilized manner!

Ectar:   Question:   The Frontline News thread before the recent drama after the fair use bans was a thread where general Clan Wars chat and Clan interaction occurred. There was a bit of smack talk in there but it generally allowed the Clan players to stay contained in that thread. It was also a very old thread with a lot of info/history in it.    Would a new thread be allowed for general Clan news that didn't bring up the recent claimed shenanigans and instead was just like it was previously for the past 2-3 years?
