there are many boardgames/wargames with WW2 tanks, including titles like Tide of Iron, Axis and Allies miniatures, Flames of War, Memoir '44 (cough) that have miniatures; even more boardgames/wargames with counters like Clash of Heroes, Panzer General (not legendary PC game), etc.
Did you play any of them? Which one was your favourite?
I have played:
Memoir '44 - too easy/abstract for me, ideal for children or starters though
Tide of Iron - nice one, but I missed more different types of vehicles and AT guns
Europe Engulfed - my favourite operational/politics level, but it's not about individual vehicles, it's about army corps.

LiannaSilverwind: There is great difference between Clan Wars/company battle and random battle. In Clan Wars/company battles properly trained teams move their SPGs to certain positions where usually "safe" hidespots suddenly become deathtraps. :Smile_honoring:

Overlord: M47 enjoyed different front hull armor so actually it wouldn't be correct to have it as M47 in game.

I would be glad you realize shaking was more than a cosmetical effect for many of us (the customers) - it was a gameplay feature. And i would be happy (really) if you could go back to development and find a way to protect the shaking effect and make it serverwide, and no longer just "cosmetical"
Can i hope for that?

Overlord: We might return to shaking effect in future, but currently it is not being worked on.

Overlord: Partially tracer effects can be reintroduced long before 6.5. Working on the server hotfix.

Any other moderators and administrators’ message is considered to be an ordinary one and is equal to a message of any forum member. 4.5 Restrictions on Administrators and Moderators

Overlord: Gold distribution pattern makes little difference for us. Community opinion on CWs is important, no doubt. But you can't speak for everybody, can you?
It's natural selection, big fish eat little fish. We do have some ideas on how to make CWs available and playable for greater numbers, however they haven't even hit the paper.

Overlord: 1. We are worried but no much. Currently not planning to introduce any artificial restrictions that would affect big clans/alliances directly.
2. I believe that the merger of the Global Map will bring the neccessary level of diversity. In addition to it the introduction of new provinces should help to some extent allowing smaller/less hardcore clans to clain some territory. However solid and effectively run clans will always succeed in any circumstances.

Overlord: From our end we limit clans to 100 members max. Each one is treated as independent entity.
New territories will give weaker clans an opportunity to capture some provinces.
Good organization, discipline and skill will allways be the key.

Currently we are planning to devise and introduce additional tracer effect protection in 6.5 update. There are not many possibilities for exploiting in WOT, that was the most successful attemplt I believe.

Tank Mk IV Churchill (another designation was A22)  was the infantry tank of the British WWII army. The history of the heavy infantry tank Churchill started in September, 1939 when a technical design specification for A20 was developed in the General Staff. It was meant to substitute the heavy infantry tank Mk.II Matilda which was in large-scale production at this period. The necessity of the new more powerful combat vehicle was justified. WWII was starting and the British troops headed for the continent and their ways led to the Siegfrid Line…
It is interesting to note that Churchill appeared as a result of a contest run by the British military department. The main purpose of the contest was to design a vehicle that would be able to substitute Matilda II. The project was devoted to the new tank and Harland and Wolf company started working on it in September 1939 in Belfast. The military department intentionally divided the order in several parts. First of all they intended to attract a large number of companies to participate. Second, they meant to spread the existing experience and knowledge needed for armored vehicles production.
As a result of this policy in July, 1940 four prototypes of the ordered tank appeared. However, the works stopped. The British were so afraid of the German tanks that they were insisting on 80 mm armor, 15 m/h speed and the ability of overcoming vertical barriers 5 feet in height.
Basically A20 represented “an heir” to diamond-shaped tanks. There were quite a few alternatives regarding cannons: 6 pounder French 75 mm cannon, 76 mm howitzer and 2 pounder cannon. Eventually they chose to mount a pair of 2 pounder cannons: in the turret and in the frontal part of the hull as well as a machine gun in the frontal part of the hull. Four prototypes were ordered to be built in February, 1940. The testing of the prototype in June, 1940 was interrupted due to gear unit breakdown. And then it became clear that the 2 pounder cannon should be turned down in order to preserve mobility and passability.

This coincided with the evacuation of troops from Dunkirk, when the British had less than 100 tanks to protect the homeland. Therefore, designers were suggested to revise the draft project of A20 to ease its manufacture process, and to put the tank into mass production within one year. Mechanization Committee provided additional draftsmen, and the new prototype of A22 was introduced by November, 1940. 500 vehicles were to be produced, and the first 14 vehicles were supplied in June, 1941. The acceleration of the production program caused some defects, which led to frequent failures of the first series. November, 1941, Military Department Commission found at least 16 major structural defects, mainly in the transmission and running gear, which caused breakdowns even in the low-duty conditioned tanks, stationed in Britain. For example, 30 tanks of a tank battalion, consisting of 54 fighting vehicles, broke down during first tactical training in the field! At least one third of them were unable to reach the base on their own. The finished machining ended in 1943, and then the vehicle was named Churchill. The crews loved their fighting vehicles, mainly for the powerful armor protection. An episode, that demonstrated such protection, happened in the battles of the 50th Special Guard Breakthrough Tank Regiment. March 22, 1943, five Churchills of this regiment, conducted by the Guard Captain Belogub, attacked the enemy. Combat vehicles stormed German positions; four of them were hit and one came back to base. The crews did not leave the tanks, and March 22-25 they continued shooting the tanks from their stationary positions. Every night, 50th Tank Regiment crews brought food and ammunition for those tankers. And in three days the Churchills destroyed an artillery battery, four bunkers, ammunition depot and up to two infantry platoons. The Germans suggested the crews to surrender several times, but the Churchill crews responded with fire. On March 25 tank crews of the 50th Special Guard Breakthrough Tank Regiment managed to hook Belogub's tank with a tractor and to drag it to the backland. The crews of the other three tanks moved back with infantry. Despite any failed tactics that caused such situation, it should be emphasized that the crews had spent three days in tanks without losing a single man killed. Churchill's armor saved their lives. Moreover, the German artillery did not break through their armor plating either.

In late 1940's Churchills were taken out service in Britain and were deposited in the parks. But during the outbreak of hostilities in Korea they were brought into action again. The 25th Infantry Brigade Group was sent to the Far East, and a 7th Royal Tank Regiment's squadron, equipped with flame-throwing tanks Churchill Crocodile, joined that campaign too. The squadron landed in Busan on November 15th, 1950. Most of the tanks were moved to the front lines by rail, but some vehicles made a march along the highway, setting a record for the tanks of this type - 200 miles under their own power! The Squadron reached the front in the offensive of the Chinese Volunteers full swing. As the battles did not require the use of flamethrowers, Crocodiles were used as conventional cannon tanks.

UN forces retreated under the pressure of the Chinese troops. On January 4 Crocodiles of the Squadron “C” moved back over the river Han. By mid-January the front line stabilized. Till the end of the month Churchills acted in conjunction with U.S. troops. They joined to its 25th Brigade on 12 February 1951 and later took part in the counteroffensive in the area of the river Han. Churchills were moving in combat infantry and fired over the sights at firing-points of the enemy. After emerging from the battles on February 21 almost all the vehicles needed repairing and maintenance service. Squadron “C” left Korea in October 1951. It should be mentioned that in Korean War along with the flame-throwing Crocodiles participated armored recovery and repair vehicles Churchill ARV of the 8th Royal Irish Hussar Regiment. Recovery vehicles pulled damaged Centurions and other vehicles out of the battles and helped to clear away rubbles on the roads.

After the Korean War Churchill tank has never participated the combat actions. Soon the tanks of this type were decommissioned. Engineering vehicles remained operational a bit longer. In particular, combat engineer vehicle Churchill AVRE (Post war modification) kept operational in the British army until 1965.

This is a battle from Himmelsdorf last night (25/5/2011) which started at 21:35 BST (GMT+1).
The enemy team have two T9s to our one.
The enemy team have five T8s to our three.
Yes, we do have more T7s than they do but they were running out of team slots.
Quite often such balance problems are put down to platoons. However, there is no reason why both teams could not have had an even number of top tier vehicles each - not at 21:35.
We won by the way.....

LiannaSilverwind: Remember that there is difference between Heavy tank tier X and non-heavy tank tier X. Heavy tanks are counted as 1.45x more (I'm not absolutely sure, it is in 1.35-1.45 range), ie. one Panther is 8 points, but one KT is 11,6 points.
Current modifications of points I am aware of:
1) Heavy = 1.45x of its tier. For all heavies.
2) Medium 9th tier = 1.35x of its tier. Only for 9th tier mediums.
3) SPG = always different weight counts vs other SPGs only.
Light tanks and TDs are the only tanks that are counted as normal tier points much to rejoice of them.

I can tell because my win ratio went up (i played few battles in it because it sucked so hard) and i think i turned it around from 37% to 50%+ I think it's closer to 60% but nonetheless.
2. How do you decide how well a tank performs in terms of acceleration/speed? The most basic would naturally be horsepower/tonnage to you the HP/Tonne .. but this statistic doesn't really mean much from what I've seen. Also, with regards to the HP/Tonne.. why is it the KV has a higher top speed than Tiger I? I cannot think of any real justifiable reason for having such a bad top speed. Diversity, maybe, but i don't think it's fair on the German players (who already have the peashooter cannons to deal with until T7 (TDs) and T8 (tanks) respectively (after a bitching grind, as it were :P)
3. When will the T32 get it's (needed) rollback of gun depression nerf? Personally i refuse to play this tank with 4 degrees less depression and I will stick with the T29, not going to grind for a tank that's horrible to play without it's best turret.. to get kicked in the balls once more with the lack of gun depression.
4. T34's stats can't be that good, 1-2%? I think it's more to do with the quality of players driving them than the quality of tank. Do you ever bother to factor player's skill into your "Oh-so-important" stats? I'm not meaning to be demeaning here.. but seriously if you do not take into account the human factor then you are really going to end up with badly skewed balance. Generally speaking it will be the German and American tanks with better players in them because either .. they decided to not play Russian because it's fairly clear for the most part they are the best tanks, most of the time. Easier to grind also. The quality of the people inside the tanks is a big factor though and I'm going to guess that the American line is the unloved stepchild in WoT.. so it'll probably be getting love from people that are either looking for a challenge or like the advantages of hull down being almost like god mode (without arty in the game anyway).

8. One more question, is there any plans of making stats for tanks more detailed? Personally, I would love to see a "theoretical stats" for the tank and "actual stats" for how the tank will perform currently with your crew/modules. Also, is there any intention to include camo value into stats? Like.. maybe as a percentage? I think that if we could SEE the camo values of tanks it would be much fairer, I know that the game code has been studied and the stats are available on the web publically now both because of the breaking of the code and also since you released the stats. Why not have them on client? :)

And Overlord dont say there are NO Ghost Shells. There are actually. Before the Patch it was pretty okay once in a while but if you are in close range of a tank ( 50 - 100 m ) and the shell just simply vanishs. And no impact, no damage, no message at all ( and no i didnt miss and no there was nothing between him and me ). Now after the Patch i have like 10 - 20 % Ghost shells and when you are using Gold Ammo in Clanwars and you have these its frigging anoying.

2. Both M6 and Lowe can face Tier 10 heavies and tier 7 SPGs, KV-5 can't.
3. Battle tiers are not the same thing as vehicle tiers. Currently we have 13 battle tiers, see the chart.
4. The highest spread is taken into account. E.g. Ltraktor + Maus will get into tier 10-12 battle.

The leave statistic will not tall whole true about frustration - is somebody got T34 already or was close to it, and no other trees researched, what was he supposed to do? He will continue to play, but it doesn't mean it will be pleasure. The join T34/T32 and join VK4500, KT, IS-3, IS-4 statistics for sure will be more interesting, but will be also "manipulated" by previous case. It is not the 1st time in history of MMO games, when devs screw something and players have to pay for it.

Overlord: It is quite possible, can't say in what way currently.
