ARGO: In that time period if Germany had made the A-bomb first, My guess is that Hitler would have used on Russia long before anyone else, Hitler wanted Russia, and he was failing at it badly also Russia being right next door far exceeded any other threat Germany had becuase Hitler knew what would happen if Stalin got his hands on him.

The next question. IF America did nuke a German city to end the war, would that have effected the Nuremberg Trials? It's hard to call someone a war criminal after you just dropped a nuke on a major population center.

ARGO: What the Allies did to Germany was worse in my opinion "bomb wise" than the A-bomb, Do a search regarding The Dresden fire bombings and then ask your self if there was racism involved between how the Japanese vs. the Germans were treated...
And for the record, this was not just one bomb and immediate annihilation like the A-bomb, it went on for days.

Everyone hates the T-44 "Here we go again"
Ok, It seems no matter what the Devs do, nerf, or patch, someones not gonna like it or think it's a favored tank because that's human nature never to be satified and the need to get better. Here is the cure for all the tank OP problems.....You have all now fought Mauses and IS7s right? You all have managed to figure out ingenious ways to kick the crap out of them right? Use that same determination on the T-44 and "Viola" you will overcome.
Here BTW is a prediction of the next and future bitch and I am serious about it....I have noticed a LOT of KVs comming up and we all know that KVs lead to KV3s and big 107mm and 122mm so be prepared for the KV3 wave people cause it is comming.

View PostElysion, on 14 September 2010 - 04:39 PM, said: A large part of the justification for bombing japan was that an invasion would be too costly due to the fanatical resistance by just about everyone they expected. If Germany had not yet surrendered, but it was obvious they would eventually be defeated after another year or so of fighting, do you think the Americans would have nuked Germany for a fast victory, or not?

ARGO: The USA dropped them bomb also because they knew Japan's stance on the war and that the Japan's deep rooted philosophy on honor would have never allowed them to surrender much like most oriental cultures case in point "Vietnam and Korea".
Now looking at the European culture at that time period, I in my humble opinion do not think the Germans with thier intellegents levels during the war "spies" would know we had a bomb, they would know fully well after seeing it tested and then used on Japan that we had no quams on dropping one would be very much open to negotiations, maybe not a surrender but an end of hostilities. Hitler would not risk Germans and thier allies turning on him in fear of nuclear anihalation.

ARGO: Like I said earlier, It's really not about anything more than being able to play and understand what the hell everyones saying. I am sure there are a few players out there who honestly cannot write in english and that's cool by me however we definately need something to translate so we can at least halfway understand these guys. As for the ones who do it on purpose because they are clan mates or want not to share info. Well, you can't do much about ignorance and/or no class.. I am sure their English will improve when they are getting tank raped because no one understood them LOL.

ARGO: I acually liked an earlier guys idea about "reflective" damage. When you shoot up an allie, you recieve equal damage too. Now that's a novel idea for TK losers.
And for those who think it's cool to TK, there is a LOT more of us that don't. In fact I saw a guy TK an MS1 and though he was King Crap till the tank next to him tracked him and left him for arty bait LOL! :D

Link on message: #124937

ARGO: I'm not big on statistics because more often than not they look good on paper but suck in practice so I will tell you from personal experience. I don't go by whats highest on the tree or most expensive, I go by what simply works best for me irregardless of the statistics. Nothings worse than spending a boat load of experience only to find that you bought a dog of a gun. I have had both guns 88 and 107 and the 107mm is superior both in accuracy and firepower to the 88, not by much but there is a noticable and distinct difference. My 107mm rarely missed and even more rarely broke unlike the 88. Also hits did more damage to enemies as well where as my 88 is a crap shoot with what damage it deals, most times you do big damage and sometimes it's 10% or worse "ping!" However the 88 always worked better with HE rounds than my 107 ever did. So as far as my opinions worth I say the 107mm is the better bang for the buck.

Go figure. I restarted my PC and set my Win 7 to primarily graphics and then did the same in my Nvidia driver and that seemed to take care of the problem.

If you have a mid penetration gun (~170), aim for the hull.
If you have less than those, aim for the sides, or the unsloped part just below the frontal glacis plate. (This works for all heavies).
If you have a gun with around 130 penetration, you will penetrate a regular Tiger from the front on autoaim on the turret every time.
If you have less penetration than that, go pick on someone your own size.

I was wondering if WoT has a chat translator built in or if one could be added because there is a fast growing number of players ingame that either cannot or will not chat in english which make communications extremly difficult for tactics ingame. This is by no means a complaint or dig on anyone's native language but as a player too it's important to be able to work together ingame and have good communication we all can understand so for example a players is writing to you "Hey! watch out for that Maus!!!" we know enough to run away! :D

I am not asking this question for myself but for tips from all of you Tanks, SPGs, TDs, you guys are the pros and I will bet there are many way to "skin a cat" so to say. Now remember this question is for BOTH Tiger and Tiger II so I am guessing there are different ways to knock each one out that will not work on the other.
BTW, Has anyone noticed that after the patch HE rounds don't work so hot on Tiger tanks anymore and that gold rounds are a toss up with Tiger IIs?

View PostMarkLT, on 13 September 2010 - 07:13 AM, said: Yeah I think there is a HUGE misunderstanding from some people about what the OP is trying to say.
What he is saying is wherever the turret is pointed at the time the round is fired the round will follow a straight flight path from the turret.
What we have in WoT is sometimes the shells just magically fly out of the turret at weird angles, even when stationary.
Unknownone has experienced, as I'm sure all of you have, one of my biggest 'peaves' about this game. On flat ground, stationary, aiming at a target about 200m in front of me my shell will, quite often, hit the ground about 50-75m in front of me. That SHOULD NOT be possible EVER. I can understand missing the target at great distance because my accuracy was off a bit and is exacerbated by the distance I am from the target but never should the shell magically come out of the turret at any other angle than straight where the turret is pointed. And it does a lot, especially when moving. Hell when circling an enemy I have seen a shells hit the ground not even 5 meters away from me when the turret is aimed at the target.
I think the best way to explain what we are talking about is the small caliber vja guns that shoot 5(?) rounds per squeeze of the trigger. I'm sure most of you are familiar with these from driving light tanks like the Pz II and BT-2. You have the turret aimed at the enemy and when you pull the trigger each shell comes flying out at completely different angles acting more like a shotgun. Now I know that each shell is not gonna follow the same flight path as the previous because of recoil but come on.... COME ON!! Its comical really, seeing all those rounds flying every which way. Its like the turret has a small kink at the end as is spinning like a hand drill.
So to sum it this isn't about turret bounce or stabilizers its about the rounds acting like like wiffle balls when they should be acting like baseballs.

MrVic: Yeah some of the auto cannons recoil and get over compensated on shots and send them all over. Stationary its much cleaner. Also when you hit the ground in front of you check that in the scoped view not 3rd person. 3rd person your recticle is at a higher angle allowing you to think you have a clean sight line. If this is not the case some of the short barreled really poor guns do send rounds pretty wild and were meant for close range weapons. Also covered the rest of this above :)

View PostKarbine, on 13 September 2010 - 02:41 AM, said: that's not what I mean. A tank with no stabilization driving across flat terrain would not be as wildly inaccurate as portrayed in WOT. the gun itself physically has to be wobbling around to cause the shell to veer off.
This isn't a difficult concept, I'm sorry.

MrVic: The guns "wobble" graphically in game is not shown on the tanks gun, Also its kinda of a lump sum of wind deviation bad aim and the inherent accuracy of some weapons, adjusted for the size of the battle fields we fighting on. Combined with most movements through the gunners sights off on the target and he had to pan and relocate and dial in the scope for a more accurate shot or to even find the enemy tank. Down the road we may see some adjustments to this but right now I don't think so. Also these are not M1 Abrams, check into some of the tech of the time period and battles fought, most kill shots from enemies were from stationary tanks.
Also check into the aim times and base accuracy (look for smaller numbers on both) Those weapons typically will be long barreled weapons as opposed to short stub barreled. Heck there were reports that at long range the 7.5 L24 75mm shell from Panzer III's would "tumble" mid air on long range shots due to all sorts of factors lol.
Just as a side note there is not such thing as flat terrain in most cases in WW2. Even a grassy field is a rather rough ride when aiming on a long distance target.
I highly suggest finding one of the few tank museums that still has tank rides in WW2 style tanks. Lets just say its rather rough even on favorable ground.
With crude or no assisted gun stabilization and few tanks creating a stable gun platform on the move, it takes almost nothing to send a shot wide.
This is one reason almost all tanks stopped to fire when able to since the chance of a hit on the move was a extremely rare thing.

It gets better on weekdays, but this weekend it's been nothing but heavies against my freshly purchased, unupgraded Pz4. I might as well drive backwards while typing "PLEASE KILL ME" in the chat. Even my (admittedly poor, I've only been playing a few days) attempts at scouting with the BT-7 end in getting sniped by a T-44.
It seems like a very fun game when everyone is on roughly the same level, but currently it's a bit unpleasant.

MrVic: Some improvements are coming soon :) After a bit of testing we should be in better shape soon if all goes as planned :)

merig00: Same things it's just that multipliers are different for each tank as well as the baseline.

ARGO: Another thing to mention is the skills of the driver too. I have seen since the wipe many many battles where IS3,4,7, mauses, and those minimauses all got their butts handed to them because they were not familiar with handling a big tank. Your only half right when you say top tanks are not the key to victory. It depends on a few key factors:
1. He knows how to use it.
2. He has support from mediums
3. He has support from arty
4. The team works like a team and moves like one.
Some players make the mistake of thinking they are invincable in a top tank as well, they run in by themselves and die alone. A top tier tank is only as good as the team behind it.
