One of the real problems right now is that players don't need to worry about their reputation. They can do whatever they please with little effect to them. We lack an ignore list. So even players that try TK you at the beginning of the battle could show up with you in the next one. We really need to be able to ignore players that we'd rather not play with. Players would then need to think about their actions or lack there of. The afkers could be avoided and those that appear to be bots (maybe they are just really bad players who drive ahead in the strait line and die at the start of the match... without getting a shot off. The jury is out on this one) There isn't an easy way to group up right now. More support needs to be added to create groups of players you want todo battle with and the ability to ignore those you'd rather never see again.

ARGO: If regular standard matches makes you unhappy, then if I were you I would try out platoon or company mode and form up your own team that way your only dealing with players you trust.

ARGO: There are certain factors that demand certain behavior, I will use myself as an example: Although I am a big fan of defending and reducing tank numbers, Certain maps tell me how to act / plan:
Malnovka = Camp a bit, pick off what I can reduce enemy #s then go on attack HOWEVER, If is see in the start up screen that the balance Gods have smiled on our sides equiptment I would be 1st to see if my team mates want to charge across the field.
El Halif = Defenders and snipers paradise, This map is a favorite of mine because it really makes you have to think becaue you know they will attack in force and try and pick you apart but you also can get them as they attempt the hills so in this map, it's anyones game and also a real nailbiter at times.
Himmelsdorf / Ruinberg = Attack, Attack, Attack, These are maps you do not want to get caught with your pants down because it's way to easy to flank and get tied up.
Now with that said, I do have to say that it's always so easy to blame arty or cry about OP tanks but the simple truth is, It's not what you have....It's how you use it that decieds victory. I have been on the losing end of battles where we clearly had a far better fighting force due to the enemy communicating better. I don't give a rat's arse how many arty the other side has because If your team wants to kill those arty, they have the tools "scouts" and I have to say I don't see many leopards doing it anymore and I will say that when they were popular they were making Artys life a living hell. But anyway I have said it before and I will say it to my dying day that good communication and working a plan together wins wars.

ARGO: Save your gold, If you want to capitalize while grinding for your BL9, Work smarter not harder. The BL9 although a great gun is not exactly the best at range and does bounce a lot....SO...If you want to make this gun work well you should also get a gun rammer, laying drive, and a verticle stabilizer to make the most out of the BL9. First topic:
Side skirts. I have seen this in many threads and I've come to realise that even though most tanks of WW2 had these, most tanks in game haven't. So, perhaps these could be a researchable item for the tanks as a separate and completly optional part which doesn't contribute to elite status. Perhaps added AFTER the tank is Elite?.
Second topic:
Additional Armor Plates. Just like the side skirts these can be offered to tanks as an additional research, optional, and not contribute towards wether the tank is elite or not. Four research stages of 5mm, 10mm, 15mm and 20mm plates ranging from 1k, 4k, 7k and 10k experience. (Mere suggestions on where i could see these be in terms of XP cost.)
Also, different effectiveness and materials for all teams. The germans gain metal plates, the US gets the usual sandbags wich you often see on Shermans and the USSR gains wooden logs, wich was mounted by the Finnish during the Winter War, but i figured that since the countries are neighbours maybe the USSR can have that in game.
Stats for these would be the germans gaining the heaviest, most expensive and most effective ones, the USA would have sandbags, less effective, cheaper and less weight. The USSR with the logs would be heavier then the sand bags, cheaper then the sandbags and slightly less effective.
Third topic:
This one is the most important one for me. At the moment i often see HE shells do more damage than AP shells. Of course not with my guns as i use the 75mm L/70. But my suggestion is as this, damage scales with piercing. If a rounds pierces, it hurts. If it doesnt pierce, it simply deals damage to OUTER modules depending on were it hits.
Fourth topic:
Modules today are too easily destroyed or damaged. Personally i suggest that when a module is destroyed, it's final. Unrepairable unless you have a repair kit. This of course calls for a lot more carefullness when playing and tactics when playing, as right now the high tier tanks blaze through the fields, they shoot things, get tracked, get it repaired and then continue. With my suggestion a damaged track will remain damaged and will make sure that the person sitting behind the sticks will be a lit more carefull. Of course this would call for a much harder target to hit, thus the side skirts i mentioned above, and a lot harder to destroy the tracks and modules themselves.

Hi the Centurion MK3's made in 1948 were fitted with the fully automatic stabilisation system for the main cannon,

It was these 2 unique systems that allowed 2 centurion tanks in the Yom Kippur War to defend aginst 120 soviet built T-62s destroying over 60 of them,
and in the same war 100 centurions defeat 500 soviet built T-55s and T-62s of course they were later model centurions.

Overlord: How HE damage works. Brief description:
1. If HE shell managed to penetrate the armor.
- Similar to AP shell, it goes inside the vehicle and explodes there.
- Full damage according to the specs is inflicted, plus HE deals additional damage to internal modules and/or crew. Apart from its basic damage value, each shell has additional value that determines possible damage to crew/internal modules if penetration was successful.
2. If HE shell didn't manage to penetrate or exploded near the tank (eg SPG shot)
- If the explosion took place directly on the armor the damage is reduced by 50%, if the explosion took place near the tank the damage is reduced by 50% plus it gets some extra reduction depending on distance to vehicle.
- Heat wave of HE shell "seeks for" soft spot on the armor, where it is possible to penetrate. Heat wave makes cone-shaped aperture in the armor with approx 45 deg cone angle.
- Vehicle's armor partly absorbs heat damage (each tanks has its own value), including installed spall liner.
- Heat wave damages crew and decreases vehicle's hit points. Modules are not damaged.

How this works:
Match-making system defines type and tier of every single vehicle. E.g. T-29 - tier 7 heavy tank.
See 7-heavy line and find out which battle tier spread it has. In our example, from 6 to 10.
The exact battle tier is chosen on a random basis. E.g. 7.
Then match-making system begins processing the waiting queue, and chooses the tanks that can participate in tier 7 battles (7th column) and makes up 2 teams from them.

Overlord: Belarus used to be a part of the USSR. As well as 14 other countries. This doen's confirm any bias by itself.
Belarusians took part in WWII fighting both sides, but mostly as Read Army, which was quite understandable.
Regarding calling other nations "brothers", I wouldn't generalize. Things are more complicated nowadays. It's not the question of black or white, ally or enemy anymore. Cold War is over.
With this post, lets close the off-topic discussion of politics and any other stuff not related to the game.
Have no idea "where we got much more russian tanks than any other". Are you playing closed beta or Russian version?

Overlord: Hello,
I'd like to wish everybody Happy New Year.
Thanks for your time and effort, together we can develop the project further.
We are happy, that the game has become quite popular and (with your help) we have achieved 1.000.000 players world wide.
To be honest we didn't expect the things would go so smooth.
The game changed to a great extent in 2010. At the beginning of the year we had about 5 tanks, 2-3 maps, and clumsy UI.
No upgrades, achievements, detailed damage model, tech tress, statisitics, destruction system. Almost nothing.
In July we have started international closed beta, initially on European servers, in Septepmber we switched to North American hardware.
We strongly believe the project will grow and develop even faster in the upcoming year.
Currently in development: clan wars, reworked visibility and spotting system, new vehicle movement physics, new crew skills, French tanks and US TDs, bigger maps (2x2 km), and of course new server capacities both in Europe and North America.
All the above and many other things will be implemented in 2011.
Moreover, here I'd like to apologize for all the problems you had an are having to overcome at the moment: lags, bugs, insufficient server capacity, break in beta test caused by switching from Europe to North America, possible lack of information and communication on the project, delays in maintenance, non-simultaneous patching with RU and late release of special festive patch.
This is our first online-project and we are constantly causing a backflash developing it. For sure we are doing and will be doing our best to deliver the product of extremely high quality and not to repeat our past mistakes.
The bottom line of this is the following: stay with in 2011 and you'll never regret it.
Happy New Year, tankers! Will catch up with you in 2011.
These are my personal congratulations. Having got some free minutes, I've realized that I must say something of that kind.

In general, I found your post humorous, and in general I'm not really that "politically correct".
However, as a moderator, employed to do a job, I'm required to do that job unbiasedly.
Its not about what I find humorous and acceptable, its about, me enforcing the rules of WOT.
Racist jokes, whether humorous to some, offensive to others, are still what they are, which is racist.
I think the main problem with your post, is the run and hide, french section. With the introduction of the french tanks soon to wot, there already has been 1001+ bad tasting french jokes. And enough is enough. Being unbiased, its not my position to allow some racist jokes, and not others.
So, thread locked, and dumped to the junkyard section.
No Ro bans places at this time. But no more racist jokes please. Its a international forum. And it needs to be fun for all. Not fun at the expense of some.

Personally, i think americans gonna have quite different. considering most american TD has turrets.
I love hit N run tactics, basicly mobility, and the hellcat is a good example of a wwII american TD wich exactly was like this.
A light tank with a hard hitting gun.
Will they be the same?
High speed, hard but not nasty hitting gun, low armor. excellent flanking tank and to flank out heavies, hit and run away and take cover or move on to next target.
Hopefully, hellcat will be exactly how my "dreamtank" playstyle will be, as i play lights normally, and i rather sacrefice my scouting ability with a better gun instead.

I must say you write some really nice and thought provking threads and this is one of them. Having read the title to it and your opening statement. Based on previous wipes/ Tree additions, Here is how I think the American TDs will do:
1. They will do very well
2. People who lose to them will complain
3. They will be labeled as OP
4. The people who complained will want them nerfed
5. If they do get nerfed the people who drive them will complain
6. Someone will get pawned miserably in a game by 3 T-44s or an IS4 and the attention will go back to them until they lose to arty.
Any way you cut it, In the end it's all going to depend on the "human" factor.....

I mean no disrespect mind you your tree is great, but how could you leave history's 1st and most feared WW1 tank out of the fight? At least throw it in there as a "Premium". To leave out such a piece of British war history as the Mark V tank would be a travesty in itself.
