The final standings, between quarterfinal losers, are based on regular season standings. There won't be additional matches necessary to determine this.

dance210: OP, what everyone means to say, is that the x2 you see in the
garage is ONLY for tank experience. The x3 crew experience isn't
readily visible anywhere. To check that it is working, you would
need to click the Personal file for a crew member before and after
a battle - you should see that he gains more experience that was
stated for the tank experience (which is what you see in the After
Battle report).
