ARGO: You know when youv'e been over playing WoT when:
You go to put your clothes in the dryer and you slam the door block your ears and yell FIRE!!!
When you start thinking potatoe guns are a good thing.
When you wife goes to wake you up tells you your where talking in your sleep and askes why you where swearing at a guy named ARTY.
When everytime you hear the word "school bus" SU-14a pop in your head.
When your collection of girly mags have been replaced by Tanks Weekly.
When your idea of getting off WoT for a while means sitting on the couch and watching the history channel episodes about tanks.
When your idea of a date is taking your girl to a war museum.
When your at the museum and a seriously well built girl is standing infront of you and you ask her to move so you can get a better view of the Tiger tank.
When you start dressing in full tank garb before playing and set up a fan infront of you to blow your scarf while listening to "Carmina Burana O'Fortuna".

got some questions about the "Heavy" US tanks.
Is that normal that i loose money if i play the T34?
When i use the 105mm gun on my T34 i have to pay 1000cred/shot,
i think its normal and if i got killed i have to pay another ~17.000 cred to rep my tank,
but i dont think thats normal if i loose most of the battles ~5-10k cred because i only get 30k per game!
It does not matter if i kill 0 or 6 tanks. when i was using the T32(US) i was often getting 50k+ cred
if u remove the costs of the ammo and rep i had every time 18k+! so why i loose the money? any reason?

ARGO: Welcome to the above tier 8 club, Time to either get a nice medium tank to feed your monster or buy a premium account.

View PostKeyth, on 11 January 2011 - 05:43 PM, said: I would be interested to hear what fun there is meant to be when you take your new Tier VI (with an inferior gun to your Tier V) and consistently get thrown in with Tier VIII to X? Have the developers stated anywhere that they are looking at matchmaking?

ARGO: This may come across as fluff to some but I also hated getting that new tank and finding it to be a absolute DOG out of the box but as I started working on it and improving it, I still love it when you get to the point where your crew is starting to aim better and the tanks is moving better. Now I look at it as kind of a learning curve for that vehicle, the game forces you to either A: hunker down and learn the tank or B: blow right through it to the next one which in the latter method usually results in the lack of skills you would have gained had you stuck with each tank you acheieve. Sure we all want to move up but when you have tunnel vision to the next tank, how fun is that?
And yes, The Devs are always working on matchmaking improvements, However there is another factor that even the Devs cannot fix in this game, The human factor.....You can't win them all, especially if you get stuck on a less skilled team.

I try and snipe but finding targets is almost impossible sometimes. Anyway if anyone has any advice how to make this tank better let me know cause right now I think it sucks.

ARGO: Sucks? Wow I am really surprised, I have had my VK3601H from day one "July" and I always use it to gain exp, and snipe. The Vk is a fantastic sniper and I also use it to hunt arty. Have you elited it? I found that all the guns for the VK work well with exception to the conicle gun.
This is my VK set up:
Camo net, Camo trained crew, 88mm AP/HE rounds "even amounts".
Hide in bushes and kill anything that moves......I average about 3 kills a game. My record in it for kills is 9.

IS-2 mod.1944 frontal upper hull armor plate

View PostJocaTrica, on 10 January 2011 - 12:36 PM, said: I'm sorry if this subject has been already brought up - I couldn't find any thread specifically mentioning it.
So... as far as I know, historic IS-85/1/2 tank went through several modifications during its lifetime, one of which was improving frontal hull armor in 1944. However, this is not reflected in game, although it should, because this change meant much better protection and increased chance for ricochet:
Let me to picture it better...
pics
Since I find it quite hard to believe that the devs just forgot about this, I suppose there's some good reason why we're not given a hull upgrade for IS. Engine limitations?

Overlord: Since these two variants of IS-2 have only slight differences, mod.1944 is not planned currently. Perhaps later as a separate upgrade for current IS-1/2.

Overlord: Any evidence of that perhaps? Schemes, screenshots etc.

View Postkarl_eller, on 02 January 2011 - 11:17 AM, said: I'm 90% sure the Schmalturm turret is bigger on the Pz4 than it is on the Panther.
While we're on this topic, the Tiger II needs a model for the 10.5cm L/68, and the JPanther needs a model for the 10.5cm L/56.

Overlord: History expert comments:
Tiger I tracks have already been discussed several times. Their width is correct. It's a matter of perception. Narrow transport tracks (Transportketten) were used for transportation. In order to mount them outer row of rollers was removed as well as wide battle tracks (Breitketten), they were replaced for narrower version. When the transportation was over, everything was done in reverse order. This was the requirement of German "Ordnung" for Kursk, North Africa, and black earth of Ukraine.
In late 1944 and 1945 this procedure wasn't followed carefully as before, since it required much time and effort. That's why aces of Panzerwaffe began to mount wide battle tracks without outer row of rollers (sometimes they even used Transportketten in city battles). As a result, late WWII photos feature Tiger with removed outer row of rollers, that's why battle tracks seem to be wider. In game we have an "honest" model with outer row of rollers mounted, and since it goes along the edge of the tracks, visually they seem to be narrower than they actually are. Especially if one expects almost 30-cm gap between MIDDLE row of rollers and outer edge of the tracks (see 1944-1945 photos). If you look at the tank from the FRONT and compare it to the respective scheme - you will make sure that the tracks are of normal width.
Unfortunately this issue arises over and over again.

View PostNOA, on 11 January 2011 - 03:11 AM, said: Also important is for a look at the tracks on the Tiger I... currently, they're using the narrow Transportketten, which were NEVER used in battle. Battle tracks for the Tiger I, the Breitketten, were used for battle and swapped off for Transportketten when the tanks were being moved by rail or just drove between fronts.

Overlord: Our guys will check them.

EDIT TYPE in the chart. the 2nd Armor Value is Penetration Value
I put 9 into the rear of a Panther...thats 53ish vs 150 at 115 damage...rough math was 1000 damage but only took off 30% from 65% to 35%...thats about 300...

Overlord: What gun are you using? Why some figures are missing?
Do you take into consideration armor slope, 25% spread of penetration and damage?

Lower tier company play

F:ex
- Max tier 8, maximum total weight 90
- Max tier 6, maximum total weight 70
- Max tier 4, maximum total weight 50
- Max tier 2, maximum total weight 25
or similar.
This would add so much more flavour to the game and relive us from the random battles that the main source of ingame frustration for many players due to all the
random fail.
Company play atm is hopeless for anyone not in a tier 9 or 10 tank or tier 5 or higher arty (or happy random scout), the "free tier" company play could also use a increase in total points to 120 or so, this would give teams a chance to field 15 tanks or almost 15 tanks, maps gets abit empty with 9-10 tanks/arty on each side.

Overlord: Company battles are going to be divided into serveral sub modes: according to overall tier of a company, limited to min/max tier of vehicles in it, faction-based company battles.
Most probably overall tier division for companies will correspond to current battle leagues.

PR first, since they've got all talent they need to make a great game, but lack of something to communicate with people. PR is not only about what to say, but most importantly how to say it. A good PR can convert a disaster to a glorious victory. But of course messing up less a little will also work.
on the other hand i think they are doing excellent job in the RU community, PR inclusively. as an extended market, US/EU is partly ignored at some point - doesn't mean they don't care, they are just too busy polishing the game and taking care of their main market.
happy customer pays, raging player quits. either of them, consequences devs take. quote Overlord "let's see"

Overlord: The grass is greener on the other side of the fence.
There have been major faults and mistakes on RU side, which made long 10-month rough road of beta testing to release. Failures for RU side are even more critical, since officially the game is live already. The latest issue occured on December 31, right on the eve of New Year, one of the most celebrated holidays.
We actually learn from our mistakes and updating EU/NA side has ALWAYS gone much smoother, without significant "post patch" issues. And faster. Downtimes here are shorter.

What id like to know though. Is comparing the guns that are "really" used on the tanks.
What i mean is with the T54 its top gun is $1250 a shot, and its 2nd gun is $250 a shot.
So if you want to make a profit in the tank you really need to use the 2nd gun, and I do. So do a lot of others.
Its not really affordable to use the top gun.
Ammo costs as above, are a big thing really.
Like in a usual game where you shoot 20x. the difference between the guns is 20k in ammo bills.

ARGO: I will say when I first started playing WoT back in July, I was in a PzII and I decieded to choose "Standard" match to see what bigger tanks looked like. I will never forget the 1st time I saw the "out of the box" IS3. I was awe inspired over it's sheer size compared to my tank and was facinated with the way it looked. My buddy who was with me said "Wait until you see an IS4" and I was shocked "You mean there are bigger ones?". Yes I was inspired and wanted to earn one, also I noticed back then how when an IS3/4 hit the battle field, all the other tanks ran from them in total fear. It was amusing to watch but even more amazing the way those ISs just would one shot tanks. It would and did give the tank a "God like" Legend.
But then came the soft wipe.....
Now those IS tanks were no longer dealing with little tanks anymore and the "fear factor" they once had started to wear due to people who had shot right up to them and really didn't know how to use them thus giving us all time to study their weakneses and learn how to kill them. Today, I still like the IS tanks looks and I myself drive them but killable or not, God or fraud, They still to me will always have that legendary status.

Overlord: New servers will be added this week. Capacity of US and EU clusters will be extended to approx 90k concurrent users which is more than RU cluster has currently.
Micro-transcations will be implemented at release.

Overlord: Clan wars beta is about to start as well soon. Since clan wars will be using web interface without considerable integration with game client at least at early stages, the release of the game itself is not dependent on clan wars release.

I'm sure most of you players out there want to know what's going on, you'd like to know if the developers are listening to your ideas, even if they disagree.
To be honest, one guy (Overlord) posting regularly just isn't enough. Sure, there is a newsletter. It's quite good, I have to admit. But there could be much more of that good stuff. The developers blog section, it's empty! How come? It's a great way to communicate with players, give them/us a chance to comment on ideas and make sure those comments reach those who are involved.
I suspect many developers read the forums, but they might not have the time to write a small essay in anwser to questions that have already been been explaind. I can understand that.
However, I think that if they somehow took the time, this would instill some much needed hope concerning where this game is headed. I feel there is just too many questions left unanswered right now.
Or am I alone in feeling this?

Overlord: Blog will be launched shortly. Our guys are working on curious stuff for it currently.
