mockup stage before the Chief of Staff said "over my dead body"
after seeing it (true story) and killed the program.

The_Chieftain: SS, if I recall the discussion which went around back when that
tank-running-over-IED video was first released, years ago, it was
concluded that they didn't realise that the car was rigged, and
they were crushing it just because. (Wasn't uncommon to do that to
cars used by the opposition, if already shot up). My own philosophy
was that if we thought a car was rigged, we'd shoot it. That
said, we did used to try to find IEDs by running our treads on the
soft shoulders. We figured better we lose a roadwheel or two and
some track than to have a HMMWV with crew roll over it.

dance210: The Feeders vs. eLevate Red
The holidays are over and
the teams are ready to get back to the battles! We're showcasing
another Silver League match tonight. Tune in to twitch.tv/wgesports at 6:30 pm PST
to catch all the action! The
Feeders, formerly known as Pescadores, earned their way from
the Bronze League. Coming in strong during the first two weeks, The
Feeders are putting the rest of the League on notice, refusing to
back down. As the reigning champions for the Summer 2014 Bronze
League, their victories should come as no surprise. With the same
roster as last season, The Feeders are definitely a team to watch
this season. With another strong early showing, eLevate
Red has only lost two of the first eight matches. Another
Bronze League team, eLevate Red had some changes coming in to this
season, with some of their top players moving to the Gold League
team eLevate.
These changes haven't hurt eLevate Red - in fact, this team is
looking better than ever. With only one win separating these
two teams, the clash on Murovanka is sure to be action packed.

Group Stage: Teams are paid out based on how well they did during
the Group Stage rounds (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) 2. Playoffs:
Teams are paid based on how well they do during the playoffs
(Friday - Sunday) So, if your team made it to the
Semi-finals, then you will be paid out 3rd-4th place prize, NOT the
Top 10% which is a Group Stage prize.

Lert: One has to keep in mind that ranges are compressed by about a
factor of three in WoT. Shooting at a target at 300 meters in this
game 'implies' ~1000 meters actual range. This is to keep the game
active and flowing, if such actual ranges were involved matches
would take several times as long and probably be nowhere as
entertaining and fun as they are now.

premiums before you're ready; too bad for you.Lert: These. You have less than 1000 games, you're still in
your WoT infancy and still have a lot to learn. Things that people
you are fighting now have already learned. Your WN8 is still
in its beginner's phase. Don't worry about that at all just yet -
just try to at least do your own hitpoints in damage each match.
That is the simplest base-line for 'carrying your own weight' there
is. Do your own hitpoints in damage. Everything else will follow.
WoT is not a race to tier 10, it's what happens while you
play. Mid-tiers might be a bit advanced for you, you are
still a beginner. Not trying to be insulting here, just being
honest. Fortunately there is a large amount of information
available for beginners to become better. My sig includes a link to
a collection of such information.

Now, captains are able to delete their own team as long as it is
Forming - it is possible that some players decided not to
participate in this Stand-To. If it's for the one on 1.6.15, there
is still plenty of time for more teams to register. I am not
quite sure what you are talking about, regarding Tier 10 tanks.
This is a Tier 4 tournament, so of course anything higher than that
(e.g. Tier 10) isn't allowed. Teams are only excluded if
they don't have enough players or are not Pending Approval when
registration closes. In the past, we have tried accepting all teams
that had the minimum number of players. Unfortunately, that meant
including teams that didn't plan to participate and therefore
didn't show. If you have concerns with how this, or any
other tournament, is run, please feel free to shoot me a PM. I can
only answer questions if I know where the problems lie

Lert: I got myself a 1/16th scale Leopard 2A6 for christmas. It finally
arrived~ The box:
Box open, bits out:
Tank removed from the box. It's
so huge that it doesn't fit into a standard HL sized box without
turning the turret 175 degrees around! Pictures don't do it
justice.
The additional bits that
were stowed in various places in the styrofoam ... Now all that's
left is opening the bits box with all the additional detail parts
for the Leopard 2A6!
........... Waitaminit. Those look like - ... ....
Bloody hell. They sent a bit box with Tiger I detail parts
instead of Leopard 2A6 detail parts. My disappointment is quite
sizable. Right. Not gonna 'touch' the tank until this is fixed.
I've sent the store a polite e-mail with the complaint and asked
for further instructions. Let's just hope it's an easy swap and
they send out the correct parts tomorrow. *sigh* So,
yeah. I'll keep you guys updated. As for how big a 1/16th
scale Leopard 2A6 is: the hull by itself is 18.9" long. Gun forward
the entire tank is 27" long. Now I just gotta wait for the
correct detail parts. My plan for this tank is: -
Modify the smoke launchers to mimic the dutch variant of Leopard
2A6 from before we sold them; - Modify the headlights from the ugly
leds to accurate scale headlights; - Repaint the entire thing - the
camo is quite nicely done on it, but the green is still just bare
plastic and has that plastic-y sheen to it. Proper re-painting will
solve that. - Proper decals - I'm making the Leopard 2A6NL, so I'm
going to need to find dutch markings in scale. I'm sure they're out
there - or I'll make them myself. Somehow. - Get a new TC figure.
This is a cheap chinese knock-off tank, so it comes with their
generic 'german TC' figure, which happens to be wearing a Hugo Boss
designed Schwerpanzer Division Waffen SS uniform, instead of the
proper baggy style uniform the dutch tank crew wore. - Minor
weathering. I intend to make this tank look like it's just returned
from maneuvers or something, so some minor mud and dust weathering
would be appropriate. I'll also possibly try to upgrade its
functionality / mobility. It's much slower in scale speed than the
real thing, and the turret takes about 2 to 3 times as long to slew
as the real thing. But those would require some serious rebuilding
with new drive components, and I just don't have the money.
There's some minor scoring / paint damage on the (all metal) barrel
that I would normally count as a defect and contact the store over,
but since I'm planning on repainting the entire thing anyway, I'm
just gonna let it slide.

wasn't even by choice that they were used -in- Italy, except for
that it was what was available. The British didn't want to deal
with another calibre of munition which was only going to be used by
a few tank units. 17pr was much more widely used, so with 17pr gun
tanks available, no need for the 76mm shennanigans.

steal, etc and watch my winrate skyrocket. Does that mean I'm a
good player cause I camp in the back every match? Not in my eyes.
WR is not an indication of how well a person plays......I have
encountered numerous blackberries (purple) and blueberries (blue)
per the WN8 score and can't tell you how many times i have burned
them 1v1. I've seen "tomatoes" do the same. I'm not saying that
there aren't good players that are blue and purple per WN8, i'm
just pointing out that its not all about the stats.The_Chieftain: If it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid. Even sniping
effectively takes a certain skill and is a required duty in
the team.

need to learn to displace periodically for a couple of reasons. The
first is so they can get better fire angles on a particular target
that is hiding behind an obstacle. Of course, if you site yourself
in a non-traditional location on the map sheet, you can surprise
players who hide in the same old place, behind that same old rock,
game after game. The second reason is because if you are
predictable, your adversaries can know where to look for you...and
you will quickly die.
Quote The Bishop and Birch Gun are painfully slow. There is rarely any sense in relocating once the battle has begun. Moving takes the gun out of action, which can be a couple minutes. Also, once you go from stationary to in motion your machine is more visible. Sometimes it serves the team better to stay put and keep sending rounds down range.

two other reasons to stay close to the front line: Shorter time of
flight and smaller aiming circle means more accuracy, and when the
enemy scout does find you, running towards your nearby colleague
will give you a better survival chance than trying to dogfight a
scout.

The_Chieftain: There is no SPG that I've played that I hang out in the
spawn zone, or (in cases with short range), a straight line to the
enemy. Yes, it can mean that you sacrifice a minute or two of
shooting because you're moving. I believe that the new angles and
increased accuracy, however, make up for this 'lost time'.
