I fully agree that there are many factors outside of one player's
control. But over time, those external factors start to be reduced.
This applies for pretty much every metric we use, be it WN8, win
rate, MoE, whatever. Which is more useful to the team?
Taking 15hp off a Batchat to kill it before it escapes to reload,
or aiming at the full-health Maus to take off 400hp of the 2,600 it
has? Where you apply the firepower is just as important as how much
you apply. The best players will usually take the right decision,
even if that means lower hp in such a situation if
appropriate. If I may take an extreme example, let's say
that there are two soldiers in the same battalion. One is a
machinegunner. The other, the battalion sniper. In every fight, the
machinegunner kills ten men. The sniper kills one. But the ten men
that the machinegunner killed were always privates in a squad.
Every time the sniper fired his single shot, he knocks out an
FO, the commander, the radioman, etc and the enemy plan falls
apart. Who did more damage, and who was more valuable to the
battalion? Similarly, one player could knock out 90% of the
hitpoints of all 15 enemy tanks, but if he doesn't finish the job
and just moves onto the next target instead of 'wasting' a round on
a 15hp vehicle and taking the guns out of the fight, is he being as
valuable as he could be to the team? As I said, there is a
general correlation between competence and damage output. If you're
utterly incompetent, it is unlikely that you would get many MoE.
However, getting your third MoE does not prove that you are more
valuable to the team than 95% of other players. It proves only that
you know how to position yourself and stay alive sufficiently long
to score more damage than 95% of the others, and the result of the
team becomes an ancillary effect. That in itself is an
indicator of competence, but as a team player, I'd like to think
that my team mates are going for the win, not the damage counter.

The_Chieftain: Technically, they indicate merely damage caused, not overall
performance. It is, in theory, possible to have three marks of
excellence, indicating that you have caused more damage per game in
that type of vehicle than 95% of the other players, while still
losing 95% of your games, as it reflects purely damage done, and
not where and when you did that damage. Of course, in reality,
there is a reasonable correlation between the two, but there is a
nasty tendency for people to purely associate damage done with
competence. (Caused 4,000 damage, lost game, my team mates were
idiots!)

Connectivity issues can still
occur no matter how good your internet package is. For
example, inclement weather can still influence packet
loss. Running a PingPlotter report will let us identify the issue
and if it's on our end then the report(s) help our devs fix the
node that much faster. We regularly ping our servers and have
engineers that monitor its status. We're not making
generalizations and you shouldn't either--every player
won't have the same type of connection or ISP for that
matter.

The_Chieftain: I would make two observations. Firstly, there used to be a 5
tier spread. Before we brought it down, a number of vehicles needed
to be rebalanced. Folks may recall the KV2 107 or the old Soviet
T-34 with 100mm. There were an acceptable number of these vehicles.
Going to the lower spread is more difficult. Secondly, the
idea of the lower spread is not universal due to what I have to
assume are cultural differences. Russians, for example, love
the larger spread and it took our flying to Minsk and sitting in
front of them to convince them that they should lower the spread to
the current level to suit the American audience. To put it by way
of example, if an American player in a Pz III met a KV2, he'd
ricochet a couple of rounds off the KV, get squashed like a bug,
and his thinking is likely to be "that sucked. I had no chance to
kill him". The Russian reaction, however, is more like "well, I bet
he enjoyed squashing me like that. I'm going to get me one of them
things and squash someone just like he did me", and he gets his
enjoyment that way. Given that this is generally a global
game (China excluded, they do their own thing), we have to balance
for the merit of the globe, not server preferences

week off from having any multi-day tournaments (the 1 day
tournaments alternate days with the 18th Anniversary). I've
considered adding another Weekly 5v5 during Week 2 for the teams
that have been eliminated, but haven't decided on that yet.

Tier 1, and Manual AA for my tier 4 skills. When a CA asks me at
the beginning of the game if I want AA cover, I inform them that
I'm good for the first wave. Usually there isn't a second, I think
my AA's better than Des Moines. I run strike, so I don't rely
on my fighters to protect me. Just lots and lots of 5" guns. On
occasion I'll bring my CV along with the BB pack, to provide them
AA.

Wargaming please .Saffr0n: I see that you are using a laptop. Are you using the onboard
keyboard or a secondary usb | ps/2 keyboard? If you are using the
onboard keyboard please visit the brand's customer support site to
troubleshoot any keyboard issues-- there can be issues where a
single key press can result in multiple key presses (i.e. "R" types
"R E Y ". If you have the means try using another keyboard to see
if the issue is related to your laptop or can be reproduced when
using another keyboard.

Use Ctrl + Tab to filter through the options until you get to "No
Panel"

equipment/consumables in your armory (depot) will show up as 0,
however, the account is not missing any equipment. Our customer
support department can actually populate the number of each
equipment you have and when it was purchased or earned through
missions, therefore, this is just a UI error. Please
note that a particular mod removes non-complex equipment
automatically and mounts them on vehicles without a full equipment
loadout, and as someone has already stated: with automatic crew
return it has automatic equipment return. This is very useful and
it saves you from having to dismount it yourself, however, this is
not a feature of the game and leads players to believe that they
have more equipment than they've purchased or earned on their
account. The reps have also seen instances where players were
losing Gold and didn't understand why. It turns out that there
is another mod that removes complex equipment and bypasses the
notification. Whenever we release a patch that breaks
those mods, this is always a common theme. Once the modpack gets
updated, the equipment suddenly appears and the reports
disappear.
