misleading. It seems to suggest that this equipment can be removed
free and moved around between tanks whenever you want. What really
happened is a free one-time demount for existing Improved
Equipment. As soon as you put it on a vehicle, it's 200 bonds to
remove it again.

important to note that only Improved Equipment can currently be
demounted in exchange for Bonds. Upon the release of Update 9.20,
Improved Equipment will be automatically demounted for free from
vehicles of all players so they can mount it as they see fit.

trained for the 50 Foch (155), and should be in the new vehicle or
in the barracks. There is another possibility that the original
crew wasn't trained for the 50 Foch (155), and after the update,
the crew went back to the original vehicle they were trained for or
into the barracks.

Subject: 9.20 Full List of Changes

CabbageMechanic: Hey Tankers,
It's time for 9.20! Downtime is scheduled for Wednesday, August 30 from 01:00 PT (04:00 ET) to 07:30 PT (10:30 ET). Full notes listed below:
Grand Battles New Features:New battle type in Random Battles: Grand Battle.Rules:Two teams, 30 players on each team Tier X vehicles only Battle time: 15 minutes Victory conditions: Capture the enemy base or destroy all enemy vehicles.Team Formation:Grand Battles are created out of the common queue of the Random Battle mode. Players enter Grand Battles randomly, by analogy with other battle types: Assault and Encounter Battle. Grand Battles will be disabled by default for those players who have insufficiently powerful PCs. Such players, however, can enable it manually in Settings (Settings > General > Random Battle Types > Grand Battle). Each team is conditionally divided into three sub-groups of 10 players each. Matchmaker determines group composition, and players cannot change sub-groups. Team composition in Grand Battles is governed by the general rules of Matchmaker 2.0 The vehicle-type composition of each of the sub-groups will match the opposing team as closely as possible. No more than 4 SPGs on a team. The difference in the number of Platoons between the team will not exceed 2 Platooned players. If a player in the Platoon has Grand Battle enabled, such a Platoon can enter this battle type regardless of whether other players in the Platoon have this battle type enabled.Map:Grand Battles are fought in the 1.4 x 1.4 km Nebelburg map. How players spawn in the map is conditioned by their sub-group. Each of the sub-groups has its own starting position (the initial spawn point). There are two bases: one per team, as in Standard Battle.Interface:The loading screen, statistics screen (available by pressing TAB), Battle Results screen, and the team panels have been adapted for displaying 60 players. The whole team is divided into three sub-groups. You can view the composition of each of the sub-groups by clicking on a corresponding sub-group. Changed the upper element of the battle HUD. In addition to the total number of vehicles destroyed by the team, this element also shows the total amount of HP for each of the teams.Awards, Service Record, and Statistics:Players can earn bonds in every Grand Battle. Players can also earn bonds in standard Random Battles, but only in tier X vehicles (in the so-called battle level 12 battles). Bonds are awarded to those players who have earned 400+ base experience for the battle. The number of awarded bonds depends on experience earned in the battle. The player can complete missions, personal missions, and earn all the awards available in the Random Battle mode. Players can earn Mastery Badges in Grand Battles just as in the standard Random Battle mode. Battles fought in Grand Battles are not counted in the player's Service Record and do not influence the statistics for Random Battles. Statistics for this battle type are displayed in Service Record > Statistics > Battle Type: Grand Battle Statistics on specific vehicles in Grand Battles are displayed individually in Service Record > Vehicles > Battle Type: Grand Battle.Adapted the conditions of some medals to the new Grand Battle:Top Gun:Destroy 6 or more enemy vehicles in Standard Battle, Assault, and Encounter Battle Destroy 8 or more enemy vehicles in Grand BattleRadley-Walters’ Medal:Destroy 8-9 enemy vehicles in Standard Battle, Assault, and Encounter Battle Destroy 10-12 enemy vehicles in Grand BattlePool's Medal:Destroy 10-13 enemy vehicles in Standard Battle, Assault, and Encounter Battle Destroy 13-20 enemy vehicles in Grand BattleRaseiniai Heroes' Medal:Destroy 14 or more enemy vehicles in Standard Battle, Assault, and Encounter Battle Destroy 21 or more enemy vehicles in Grand Battle

SPG Stun Mechanic Changes Crew Stun Mechanic Added the time of caused stun to the Battle Results screen. Improved the mechanics of causing damage and stun through obstacles. Now SPGs will not cause damage through obstacles that are 2 or more meters thick if the vehicle is fully covered by them. At the same time, explosion wave can somewhat bend the corners of obstacles. For that to happen, the distance between the point of hit and the obstacle's edge should be less than 2 meters; however, in such a case the explosion will cause decreased damage. Directives Directives Added a visual indication of the way that directives influence the technical characteristics to infotips and simplified technical characteristics. Armor decreased from 250 mm to 50 mm. Fixed the issue with the displayed maximum number of shells in the Consumables window for the 75 mm SA49 gun. Fixed the issue where vehicles not suitable for personal missions were still shown as available. Fixed the issue where a permanent rank could be displayed as non-permanent.ImprovementsImproved the layout of notes in the Contact list. Added information about the acquired vehicle rank when viewing players' Service Records. Added a filter by range for the Team Battle mode.Known Issues (will be fixed later)When a vehicle is destroyed by overturning after 30 seconds has passed since it was overturned, the player who overturned the vehicle does not receive credit for the vehicle's destruction. Concealment of a vehicle with unique Camouflage is displayed without the bonus for Camouflage in the Garage; however, in reality, the effect of Camouflage is active. The recruiter's Recruiting Office does not display the recruits and reservists that they invited, if the recruiter's account is restored to a state, preceding the moment when recruits accepted the invitation. The camera can suddenly change its position in trajectory view when the player quickly moves the cursor around the vehicle. The order of events for received damage is sometimes mixed up in the damage log. Technical text may display for vehicles destroyed by overturning in the Battle Results screen. The badge about base capture can be displayed prematurely, even before the indicated number of points has been accumulated.
Feedback threads will be posted in the relevant forum tomorrow after you have had a chance to interact with the changes.

Fixed the issue with full-screen settings not saving in some cases. Fixed the issue with the display of vehicle ranks. Fixed the issue with the Maus' underbelly armor protection.
Happy Tanking!

The_Chieftain: This is a global game, and so has to be configured to work on a
global basis. I'm going to go back many years for this post.
Those of us who have been around a long time will remember the +/-4
which was mentioned a few posts back. The reason it was changed was
that there was a delegation from the NA office in Minsk (I was
there for the presentation), mainly pushed by Jinxx and General
Direction, if you remember them, saying in a nutshell that if
Minsk wanted WoT to be more successful in the US, they needed
to reduce the spread. The problem is that what makes an American
player play a game is not necessarily what makes an Eastern
European, or an Asian, or a South American play it. It may be hard
for some to accept, but most players globally seem
to prefer a wider spread. At least, they did a few years
ago. The example given was a PzIIIA with its 37mm gun
tootling around a corner and encountering a KV-2, possibly with a
152mm, probably the 107. You can imagine what happens
next. Plink...plink....plink...plink... SPLAT! The typical
reaction to this in the US is that the Pz III player is going to
say "That was utterly unfair. I had no chance at all. This game
sucks". However, someone in another geographic area may react
by saying "I bet he enjoyed doing that to me. I'm going to get me
one of them, and go make other folks miserable with my superior
tank!" and when he does get that tank, the pleasure of splatting
other people outweighs the misery of being splatted in his
overall gaming experience. The compromise which was reached
was that the MM spread would be reduced to +/-2, as it currently
is. (+/-3 was also considered). Will we stay that way forever?
I have absolutely no clue. That is a development decision, not my
department. However, tanks were designed back in those days to be
capable of surviving in a team against even high tiered vehicles.
Hence the existence of what were known as the giant-killers, such
as the old T-34/100, or the aforementioned KV-2/107. There weren't
too many of them, but they had to be rebalanced or else they would
be ridiculously OP in the reduced MM tier spread which was coming.
So, if you go back over the patch notes for that period of time,
you'll see that there were several patches which reduced the
capabilities of a number of vehicles against higher-tier vehicles,
followed by the MM spread change. That was for a smaller number of
vehicles. It occurs to me that most tanks are/were designed to be
capable of fighting in the +/-2 environment, and there would be a
whole lot more vehicles which would have to be changed than just
the few giant-killers of several years back. As mentioned
before, for more information on this subject as a whole, go back
over the various dev diaries or releases. The matchmaker tier
spread is something which has been talked about for years, it's not
as if the devs haven't addressed the thinking behind it before.

the Playoffs Clans that need to participate in a tiebreaker round
As they are tied in points, GOFD and -4K- will play a
tiebreaker round on Wednesday, August 30 at 6 pm PT / 9 pm ET. Here
are the rules for the tiebreaker round: Teams will participate in a
single-elimination bracket. All maps will be attack / defense.
Teams will alternate sides between matches. Each match will last 8
minutes with a 2 minute break between matches. The winner will be
the first to 5 victories out of 8 battles. If there is no winner
after 8 battles, teams will enter a Sudden Death Tiebreaker match
One team will be chosen to select Attack or Defense. The team will
be chosen based on: Team that won fastest on attack If no team won
on attack, team that did the most damage on attack If neither of
the above is met, a team will be selected at random A notification
of the tiebreaker and voting screen will show up in the
Notification tab for the team that gets to choose. Each member of
the team will be allowed to vote on Attack or Defense. After the
team has finished voting, a new special battle will automatically

there (and I can't imagine they did, or they wouldn't have voted
against), I'm not sure I see the hypocrisy. Now, if they were
trying to get their own things and were voting against until it
happened, that's another matter entirely.
