One question tho Overlord, as in a previous post someone asked if we will need to re-download the game, I would like to know that process too, if you can give those details pls

London (17th March, 2011) — Wargaming.net is glad to announce today that its highly-anticipated free-to-play action MMO game World of Tanks is set to launch on 12th April, 2011 in Europe and North America.
With this announcement, the company reports World of Tanks to be gradually entering the release phase after nine successive months of closed and open beta testing that let the game recruit an impressive number of players building up a strong and responsive community that helped the development team enhance and polish the game by providing valuable feedback and reporting issues.
World of Tanks is one of the most recognizable vehicle-based MMO games where players fight action-packed battles driving historically accurate WWII-era armored machines. The game’s stunning graphics, destructible environments, a wide variety of military hardware with a vast choice of upgrade options along with captivating and well-balanced gameplay make it a must-try for almost every gamer.
“Our team has been working really hard to create a unique blend of action, strategy, simulation and RPG elements in World of Tanks, and now the moment all fans across the globe have been waiting for is right around the corner”, said Victor Kislyi, CEO of Wargaming.net. “We are delighted to be finally announcing the release date for this ground-breaking title and invite all veteran players and those new to the game to enjoy tense and uncompromising armored warfare on World of Tanks battlegrounds”.
During preparation stage for release all vehicles, achievements, statistics, inactive/duplicate accounts will be wiped, except vehicles received within PR events! All players who did a long way from CBT to Release will get some bonuses, stay tuned!

Tank Reviews # 6 IS-4
History: The IS-4 was a continuation of the Josif Stalin series of heavy tanks produced during and after the war. The IS-4 was competition to the IS-3, and it was basically an extensive re-design of the IS and IS-2 heavy tanks. They were decommissioned in the 1960's.
Armor: The IS-4 has one big advantage, armor. Armor is 160/160/100. Health Points are 1790 HP. The turret in particular has a maximum of 252mm worth of armor. So, despite the slower speed and maneuverability, the armor is one of the biggest goodies about this tank. Because your frontal armor isn't pike nosed like the IS-3 or IS-7, be sure to angle your armor. When you are going down a street in any city map, you will truly feel invincible, hearing each and every shot bounce. But with great armor comes some dis-advantages. Because you have great armor, you are less maneuverable. Your turret traverse is also very slow compared to the IS-3. It should be able to bounce most shots, but be wary of the drivers port in the frontal section, that is where it is the weakest.
Firepower: The IS-4 has a 4 choices of guns. 100, 122, another 122, and the 130mm guns. The 100 gun is the default one if you don't use the 122mm, so I suggest you switch to the 122mm as soon as possible, because 100mm isn't going to damage the enemies that you are going to be fighting. The first 122mm is rather weaker than the BL-9, but it should do, if you happen to not mount the BL-9 for any reason. The BL-9 is the same gun on the IS-3, but the 130mm S-70 "Finger of God" is the one you really should be going for. It does massive damage, so an IS-4 has the same firepower as the IS-7. You should rarely bounce, unless it's a T-series. 130mm brings a certain feeling of power, but you need the second turret for the IS-4, so be sure to research that. As for shells, I recommend mostly AP and a few HE.
Mobility: The IS-4, when you first get it, honestly feels like a KV, only worse. Your speed is only playable at the very least, and the turning traverse...it will feel horrible. So I suggest that you get the tracks first. Then the engine. When you max it out in terms of mobility, it's very similar to the IS-3's, only thing is that you will accelerate a little slower. Turning traverse also gets decreased by about 2 degrees, but the mobility doesn't make much of a difference because it should be enough to get you across the map fast enough. Top speed on urban maps is around 30+ km/h, and when you are going uphill it will be around 10+ km/h. Top speed is 35 km/h. It's similar to the IS-3's, so it should be familiar once you max it out.
Fear Factor: IS-4's are a very common force on the battlefield, but they are very dangerous should you encounter it one-on-one. If it has the height and speed advantage, it can very easily circle similar tanks and start pummeling it with the 130mm cannon. When people think of the IS-4 nowadays, they think it is overpowered, but that is only because they can't penetrate it. It is a force to be reckoned with. Do not under-estimate this.
Overall Value: It's a very important force on the battlefield, especially as a front-line fighter and dog-fighter. Just be careful of the speed and mobility drawbacks though. The gun should be able to cause massive damage, and the armor and HP shouldn't be much of a problem. Do not under-estimate it.

Release Date Announced
Quote EU and US Supertest
In the coming weeks an International Supertest server will be set up. The Supertest is a special server that all updates must go to before being officially released, as a final quality check. This server provides the developers with information that can be used to improve the upcoming update before release, including bug fixes and balancing issues, and improve the overall quality of future updates.
What this means for players:
An opportunity to test new features and content before it is released officially. This includes new vehicles, maps, game modes, and much more.
An opportunity to have greater and more pointed influence upon the development of the game by tracking bugs and pointing failures of game mechanics.
An opportunity to increase the level and quality of communication between players and the World of Tanks development team.
Players interested in the participating in the Supertest are encouraged to watch for updates on the forums for instructions on how to join.
First stage of Supertest recruitment will be dedicated to Language Supertest and is going to start in a few days.

Tips, Tactics and Strategy -- Visualized Tank tactics and strategy explained through pictures
A Look to the Future said:
World of Tanks v.0.6.4 Preliminary Patch Notes
• Added new vehicles: premium heavy Lowe and KV-5, intermediate KV-13 and Pz38NA, tier 8 SPGs: Object 261, GW-E serie, T-92.
• Full redesign of Maus collision model using “skirt” type of armor.
• Fixed hit boxes for IS-7, JagdPanther.
• Added new maps – Mountain Pass and Prairies.
• Visual redesign of Pagorki map.
• Gameplay redesign of Komarin map: reduced number of bushes near the bridges, added extra buildings on the central island for cover.
• Added extra checkpoints on tank models for more accurate visibility checks.
• Changed effect for credit and gold first aid kits, repair kits and fire extinguishers:
Credit repair kit will fix 1 chosen damaged module until the end of battle. Gold will repair all currently damaged modules until the end of battle.
You can put both repair kits on the same tank together.
First aid kits work similar to repair kits.
Credit fire extinguisher will extinguish fire immediately after you manually activate it – by pressing its button ingame.
Gold fire extinguisher will automatically extinguish fire 0.5 seconds after tank catches fire and will reduce chance of catching fire by 10%.
• Changed damage mechanics for tracks. You can damage tracks if you hit the leading or the rearmost wheel of the tank. It will be much more difficult to detrack it by hitting middle part of the tank.
• Reworked vehicle movement system – stucking at vertical surfaces and map borders is nearly completely eliminated. Reduced chance of stucking in terrain objects.
• Added first version of moving wrecks of destroyed vehicles.
• Fixed bug with SPG Object 212 gun mantlet that was able to absorb shells without losing durability.
• Fixed damage mechanics of certain open-topped SPGs during light collisions with other vehicles.
• Added an option to demount non-demountable equipment (like Rammer or Coated Optics) for 10 Gold.
• Added an option to transfer in-game gold to another player. For additional control of transfer special billing password is being used.
• Added an option to block voice messages from the player in battle and in hangar.
• Added an option to turn-off tank shaking during shooting/moving/stopping/being hit in sniper mode. Default setting is shaking on.
• Added an option to remove tracks prints.
• Added an option to turn off smoke and dust off the tank tracks.
• Added detailed options for voice chat: selection of audio device, voice test and other options.
• Fixed bug with client freeze when joining company/platoon in case of voice ports being blocked.
• Added new tab Clan for Contacts window, including the list of clan members.
• Added visual diplay of “speaking players” in Training Room, Platoon and Company, Map Loading screen.
• Added additional star icon on the tank that did not gain double experience for the current day.
• Minimap remade into flash like the other interface . Added icons for different tank types. Added colored icons of different colours for tanks in player’s platoon.
• Added additional markers above tanks in player’s platoon.
• Added additional statistics window displayed when player’s tank is destroyed.
• Fixed great amount of rendering bugs, improved efficiency of high-quality dynamic shadows.
• Added protection from client-side change of color, brightness and display time for tracer effects.
Planned for v.0.6.4, but currenty in development:
• Reworking visibility/camouflage of all vehicles and guns.
• Lowered memory usage. Fixing Red Textures bug on PC with big amount of RAM (> 2 GB).
• Specific balance weight for 9th tier Medium tanks.
• Fixing discrepancy between sniper and arcade crosshairs in case vehicle is positioned on a slope.
• New post-battle statistics.
Note 1. The list of changes is not full.
Note 2. v.0.6.4 is very likely to be the release version.

ARGO: Ever day dreamed about building the perfect beast? Do you think you
got an idea for a real winner? Well here's you big chance. Let's
see some seriously thought out tank designs and the only rule I am
putting is:
Whatever Tank you create MUST be within the same era that WoT covers meaning that if this tank you create was real, it would be able to be in WoT.
You can arm it and do anything you want, the skies the limit as long as again it's within the WoT's time period. Also you can give an explaination on how your design works and it's uses in battle.
As always, No nasty commentary or insults just reasonable and meaningful opinions please......
I am seriously looking forward to seeing all your creative talents.

ARGO: Have you ever been in a situation where you have done the
following:
Entered a battle without ammo?
Ran out of ammo?
Been a David amongst a slew of Goliaths?
Had a gun that was a zero and not a hero?
Had you team numbers drop because someone quit or got TKed?
Well I myself have been there many times to and I want to share some ideas on how to make the best of a grim situation as well as see if any of you also have good ideas to help your peers when things are looking grim.....
Here we go:
Entered a battle without ammo or Ran out of ammo? Well in both scenarios you may thing your screwed but really you have just become a serious problem for your enemy...How?...You are now an enemy with absolutly nothing to lose which means dying is not all that important to avoid so the best thing you can do is become a suicide scout by lighting up your enemies position for as long as you can. Hell, I even saw a guy use his heavy to ram the arty to death before they got him.
Been a David amongst a slew of Goliaths? Oh how we all know this scenario all to often. Just because your enemy is bigger does not mean they are invincable, I took an Sherman E8 and totally harrased the enemies T-54 to the point he wanted nothing more than to chase me all over God's creation and since he was to busy chasing me in circles all over Himmlesdorf he failed to see that I was running him into a trap and he got to eat an 88mm in the face.
Had a gun that was a zero and not a hero? Gotta love it when nothing you do hurts, Well I to have been there and what I did was simple Mislead the enemy into thinking you forces are heading one way when your relly going elswhere...How?...Easy I talked to the other tiny tanks into following me and we went far enough to be lit then hid, the enemy thought it was the heavies and ran right in only to find that we had lured them into an area that our arty and TDs could hammer them while the real force was rolling into their base. If there are no other tiny tanks then become a royal pain for ther enemy...ram their arty or just plane become nuisence.
Had your team numbers drop because someone quit or got TKed? The tough part is that depending on what tanks your team lost are going to be a handicap for all of you. The good news is that your teams going to make it very expensive for them. Many many times I have seen a team down by 4 out of the gates and still they pawned their way to victory and even when they didn't they took it down to the wire ending the match in a one on one scenario.....Yes it happens. Remember your not going to win them all and also remember that if you get enough players to work with you you can at time pull the ninja cap by distraction. It has be done and it can been done and anything you ever hear disregarding it is bunk. It just takes determination. I myself NEVER run away from a battle and I have no probles on sacrificing my tank to insure victory or at least a draw. A team with that mind set can be a deadly threat to any enemy. Keep the mind set that if they mess with your team mate, their messing with you and get in there and kick some butt. You may not win the battle, but you will gain respect from both sides.
Well, that's my offerings of experience and now it's your turn. Please post meaningful, helpful, and informative ideas or stories regarding this.

Well, that's my offerings of experience and now it's your turn. Please post meaningful, helpful, and informative ideas or stories regarding this.

Overlord: Not "Months" after the release, we will minimize the gap as much as
we can.

merig00: ench0 - there's no "WoT dev team" on this, just a bunch of people
on RUS forum who want to play WoT on Linux. I just translate and
post updates here. I'm surprised there are no willing people on
NA/EU forums.

This truely seems backwards to me. As it stands, you will gain the less usable data by doing these changes on a T10 than you would even a T9. While yes the Maus is in dire need of work, if your planning on making changes to the lower tier T8's/T9's of a similar nature, logical testing dictates you want the widest possible data sample you can get. Not the Smallest set.
Take the Ferdi or Tiger II, these vehicles are by far more commonly used than JT's, VK4501's and Maus's... Because they are far more cost effective to use and actually rather a pleasure to use despite their failings (the Tiger II fails far more than the Ferdi in my opinion as I drive both).
I would suggest, that while indeed you go ahead with the changes, I really beleive that going with the Maus, which realisticly is among the least commonly used or owned by what I personally see, you would gather far more comprehensive information via the Tiger II in a much shorter time frame (and a larger data set to view) in order to assess nessessary tweaks or alterations needed.
