Saying penetration degrades linearly by 20% from 100 to 500 meters is the same as saying penetration degrades by 1% for every 20 meters beyond 100 meters. Therefore, distance changes of less than 20 meters tend to have so little effect on degrading penetration that distance changes of less than 20 meters tend to be inconsequentially in determining if a round will penetrate it's target.
IE If a 88mmL70 is shooting at a target at 400 meters, the gun will lose 15% of it's penetration or 30.45mm (the round will penetrate 172.56mm of armor before randomization). At 410 meters the 88mm L70 will lose 15.5% of it's penetration or 31.46mm of penetration (the round will penetrate 171.53 of armor before randomization). These changes do not sufficiently alter the mean of the Gaussian distribution enough to really change the probability of penetrating a target. For Example, A 88mm L70 with a mean 172mm of penetration at 400 meters, will have only 21.8412% of the possible randomization outcomes result in a round which can penetrate 184mm of armor (the frontal armor of a T32 adjusted for LOS less 8 degrees of slope; in order to compensate for normalization effects). At 410 meters the mean penetration on the 88mm L70 is 171mm, meaning that 21.6572% of the possible results of randomization will result in a round with sufficient power to penetrate the front of a T32 (184mm).
The increase in range of 10 meters does show an exponential rise in the probability of a round to not penetrate at range due to randomization, but because the difference between the increment is so negligible it offers no measurable effect. When we increase the range increment to 20 meters penetration on the 88mm L70 falls of by 16% at 420 meters resulting in a mean penetration of 170.52 meters. Meaning that 21.0089% of the results of randomization will result in a 88mm L70 AP round with sufficient penetration to perforate the glacis of T32 at 420 meters. The difference between a 10 meter increment and a 20 meter increment is near a whole percentage point in probability with the randomization effect. Therefore it is mathematically correct to say that for every increase in range of 20 meters beyond 100 meters there is an exponential increase in the probability for a tier 7 gun not to penetrate the front glacis of a T-32.

Overlord: Normalization values are fixed to the shell. They are 8-10% only, the spread is not that big.

ARGO: Sorry my friend, that's how Beta works. Anyways for one who joined the 8th of March, you have done good. your biggest tank is a T-1 heavy. You should be back there in no time. I myself have grinded to an IS7, T-54, ISU-152, Pershing, and a T-1 heavy. Just keep in mind there are a lot of us that have a much longer harder road back than you do but again, that's how Betas usually work.

ARGO: The most epic thing I have ever seen ingame would have to be back in July/August last year, An MS1 beat a Maus.....Yes you heard me right, I watched an MS1 totally pawn a Maus. How? well we both know the MS1 didn't shoot it to death but he did outsmart the Maus and embarrassed the entire enemy team. The battle came down to 2 tanks left, A MS1 and a Maus. No one ever dreamed of victory for the MS1 but to our surprise the MS1 simply lured the Maus across the battlefield "Provahokia" and ran up the other side and Ninja capped. The Maus not wanting to look bad by capping foolheartedly went after it. I can still remember the players name who did it and to this day I still credit that win as the greatest win I have ever seen.

• Changed effect for credit and gold first aid kits, repair kits and fire extinguishers:
Credit repair kit will fix 1 chosen damaged module until the end of battle. Gold will repair all currently damaged modules until the end of battle.
You can put both repair kits on the same tank together.
First aid kits work similar to repair kits.
Credit fire extinguisher will extinguish fire immediately after you manually activate it – by pressing its button ingame.
Gold fire extinguisher will automatically extinguish fire 0.5 seconds after tank catches fire and will reduce chance of catching fire by 10%.
• Changed damage mechanics for tracks. You can damage tracks if you hit the leading or the rearmost wheel of the tank. It will be much more difficult to detrack it by hitting middle part of the tank.
• Reworked vehicle movement system – stucking at vertical surfaces and map borders is nearly completely eliminated. Reduced chance of stucking in terrain objects.
• Added first version of moving wrecks of destroyed vehicles.
• Fixed bug with SPG Object 212 gun mantlet that was able to absorb shells without losing durability.
• Fixed damage mechanics of certain open-topped SPGs during light collisions with other vehicles.
• Added an option to demount non-demountable equipment (like Rammer or Coated Optics) for 10 Gold.
• Added an option to transfer in-game gold to another player. For additional control of transfer special billing password is being used.
• Added an option to block voice messages from the player in battle and in hangar.
• Added an option to turn-off tank shaking during shooting/moving/stopping/being hit in sniper mode. Default setting is shaking on.
• Added an option to remove tracks prints.
• Added an option to turn off smoke and dust off the tank tracks.
• Added detailed options for voice chat: selection of audio device, voice test and other options.

• Reworking visibility/camouflage of all vehicles and guns.
• Lowered memory usage. Fixing Red Textures bug on PC with big amount of RAM (> 2 GB).
• Specific balance weight for 9th tier Medium tanks.
• Fixing discrepancy between sniper and arcade crosshairs in case vehicle is positioned on a slope.
• New post-battle statistics.

London (17th March, 2011) — Wargaming.net is glad to announce today that its highly-anticipated free-to-play action MMO game World of Tanks is set to launch on 12th April, 2011 in Europe and North America.

With this announcement, the company reports World of Tanks to be gradually entering the release phase after nine successive months of closed and open beta testing that let the game recruit an impressive number of players building up a strong and responsive community that helped the development team enhance and polish the game by providing valuable feedback and reporting issues.

World of Tanks is one of the most recognizable vehicle-based MMO games where players fight action-packed battles driving historically accurate WWII-era armored machines. The game’s stunning graphics, destructible environments, a wide variety of military hardware with a vast choice of upgrade options along with captivating and well-balanced gameplay make it a must-try for almost every gamer.

“Our team has been working really hard to create a unique blend of action, strategy, simulation and RPG elements in World of Tanks, and now the moment all fans across the globe have been waiting for is right around the corner”, said Victor Kislyi, CEO of Wargaming.net. “We are delighted to be finally announcing the release date for this ground-breaking title and invite all veteran players and those new to the game to enjoy tense and uncompromising armored warfare on World of Tanks battlegrounds”.

During preparation stage for release all vehicles, achievements, statistics, inactive/duplicate accounts will be wiped, except vehicles received within PR events! All  players who did a long way from CBT to Release will get some bonuses, stay tuned!

Is it true to not true!

• Reworking visibility/camouflage of all vehicles and guns.
• Lowered memory usage. Fixing Red Textures bug on PC with big amount of RAM (> 2 GB).
• Specific balance weight for 9th tier Medium tanks.
• Fixing discrepancy between sniper and arcade crosshairs in case vehicle is positioned on a slope.
• New post-battle statistics.

Note 1. The list of changes is not full.
Note 2. v.0.6.4 is very likely to be the release version.

Overlord: There is now way regular tier 8 heavy can be excluded from opposing vehicles of tier 9 and 10.
The population of German tanks still exceeds the population of Soviet tanks on both EU and US, which is good. Introduction of US TD line, should promote US vehicles.

Overlord: Player's skill is not taken into account, the game is tailored for an average player. If you are better than average, you have nothing to complain about actually. If not, well... Practice more.
Upgrades and modules are not taken into consideration, grind and upgrade your vehicle. There is no purpose of driving stock vehicle all the time.

Overlord: Each of them does, win ratio shows overall performance in comparison with other vehicles, experience gains are directly affected by damage inflicted, targets spotted, base captured etc.
