This is only a small concern, but I don't want players (new ones especially) to think that a tank can only fill the role(s) which you designate to it. Perhaps you could include a general caveat (somewhere visible, maybe as a tip in the match loading window) that tanks may fill different roles depending on the match or the circumstances they are in.
Not to get off-topic about naming roles for specific tanks, but just to provide an example of what I mean here: the VK3601. You might play it best as a support, raider, or even assault tank depending on what it's matched against or who is left alive on each team, not necessarily based on module setup alone.

GeneralDirection: You're spot on. :) This is something we'll have to consider very closely, as depending on the modules (turret, gun, etc.) you use on your tank, its role can change. So there's a good chance that many of the tanks in the game will have 2-3 potential roles listed. The challenge there will be deciding how we list those roles in a way that isn't confusing or overwhelming.

GeneralDirection: We've created this forum as a means for the community to more easily communicate their feedback and ideas for improvements to World of Tanks. While we're still reading the forums at-large, we wanted to open a direct, focused channel for players to share their ideas with each other, and Wargaming.net, on ways we can continue to shape the game moving forward.
While we can't promise all suggestions will be implemented into the game, this is your chance to participate in the ongoing development of World of Tanks. Any and all constructive feedback and ideas will be listened to, and we'll also try to respond to questions when possible.
Please keep in mind that the Suggestions forum is subject to the same forum rules found elsewhere on the World of Tanks community website. If you haven't had a chance yet, please read over the Forum Rules and Guidelines announcement.

GeneralDirection: This will primarily be a tool to help new players better understand the various roles each tank can fill. That way if they enjoy playing a sniper in other games, for example, there are distinct tanks that they can see down the tech tree that will interest them right away.

GeneralDirection: We’re always looking for ways to improve the presentation of a tank to new players, to better educate them on its roles on the battlefield. With that in mind, we’ve devised a set of roles based on various play styles within World of Tanks.
You, the community, are a very important part of this. We want your feedback on what we’ve come up with so far, as well as any other suggestions you have for roles we may have missed, or roles that could have a more exciting name.
Here are the initial ideas we’ve come up with for designating “roles” for tanks in-game. We've spoken with our Military Specialist, The_Chieftain, to come up with roles that closely resemble actual military tactics. Keep in mind, a tank can be assigned multiple roles depending on the modules used.
Recon: High mobility, low fire power and/or armor. Used primarily to spot SPGs, TDs etc.Raider: High mobility and fire power, medium/high armor.Support: Long range fire powerAssault: Pusher, high armor, break-through tank.Counter-Recon: Destroy recon vehicles, low armor, medium-high firepower and mobility.Hunter: Able to engage enemy 1v1. High firepower, high armor OR high concealability.Blocker: Deterrent tank; denies the enemy access to an area or prevents his advance in a direction or along an avenue of approach.
We’re not looking for feedback on what tanks should be placed under each role just yet, so please keep it to comments on the roles and any ideas you have for changes to them!

For some weird reason the IGN Prime sign up page doesn't like Firefox(FF 3.6.22 w/ AdBlock+ turned off) and rejects the auto-generated promotion code. It will say something like it's an invalid code. Don't freak out there's a way to fix that.

GeneralDirection: Interesting -- can you please submit that to IGN's support team? That sounds like something they might want to take a look at.

I've already sent a ticket to IGN about both "Alternates" related issues. Alternates won't be so willing to jump in if they will be receiving nothing. I know WG doesn't operate that way when they have in-house tournaments.

GeneralDirection: Unfortunately we probably won't be able to secure physical prizing for alternates in time, but anything we can't give in hardware, we'll be comping with in-game content.

The majority of which was fought from Oct. 1941 to Jan. 1942.
To be immediately followed by the Soviet "Winter Offensive" of 1942.

Tankers! It’s time for another Twitter quiz, this time observing the birthday of Adna R. Chaffee, Jr. – one of the United States Army’s first true tankers. Known as the “Father of the Armored Force,” Chaffee, Jr. was instrumental in developing the U.S. Army’s tank forces.
As with our Creighton Abrams Twitter quiz, we’ll be posting questions tomorrow – September 23, 2011 – during the day to honor Chaffee, Jr.’s birthday. It’s a great time to learn more history surrounding famous tankers, while also bringing in a bit of gold for your efforts!
Details
Head over to the World of Tanks NA Twitter page. We'll ask 20 questions, spread out to one question every 15 minutes. The quiz begins at 1PM PDT (4PM EDT) on September 23, 2011 and is scheduled to end at 6PM PDT (9PM EDT) on September 23, 2011.To submit your answer to a question, email us at events@worldoftanks.com with:Subject: Adna R. Chaffee, Jr. Twitter QuizThe question you're answeringThe answer you want to submit for the questionYour World of Tanks in-game nameYou have 10 minutes from the point the question is posted to submit your answer. Once time is up, we'll Tweet out the correct answer. Any submissions sent in after the answer is posted will not be considered.Only one submission per-question per-player is allowed.Up to 10 correct submissions per-question will be eligible to receive 200 gold.Winners will be selected at random from the correct submissions for that question.
Notes
Don't rush your answer! You have 10 minutes; submitting it within one minute does not grant you any more eligibility than the person who submits it after 9 minutes. Read up on Adna R. Chaffee, Jr. and the topic of the question to make sure you're answering correctly! You don't have to stick around for the entire quiz if you don't want to. Each question you answer correctly will give you a chance to earn some gold. You can win for more than one question, so if you want to learn a bit more about this storied tank commander, then it could be very rewarding for you!Not all of these questions will be as easy as visiting Wikipedia to answer, so prepare to scour the internet!Participation in the quiz does not require signing up for Twitter, though we definitely encourage you to follow us to stay updated on World of Tanks NA news!

Apologies for the delay. We had to look into this a bit. I'm going to contact IGN to discuss the signup process and figure out how we can get alternates added. It was a decision near the end of the planning of the tournament to allow alternates, so we may have to do all of the additions of alternates behind the scenes.
That said, once a team is set up we'll be contacting you, and we can get the information from you about the alternates at that point.

Tanitha: I have a lot of fun with the KV 152mm.
You just have to play it as it needs to be played. Hit hide & reload, until you are ready to fire again.
If you engage in a dogfight with your KV 152mm, Its slow speed, very slow turning turret, and very slow reloading time, will get you killed very quickly.
Its also good to position yourself with team mates close by, and or close to a building/wall etc, that way you cant get a light or medium running circles around you avoiding your gun. Stock, the KV is a bit painful. Upgraded, the KV is a lot of fun.
Welcome to the game btw.
Have fun

GeneralDirection: Speaking from experience in trying this in the past with a creative writing contest, it doesn't always work as desired due to sheer number of submissions. The likelihood that a person will read all of the submissions is fairly low, and so it doesn't always result in balanced voting. That does give me ideas for other contests including player votes, though... things that ask entrants to create visual content, rather than written.
With this contest, we will be consulting military specialists and... well, I should have included this initially. Even if a story does not win one of the gold prizes, there's a chance it will be featured on The Chieftain's Hatch. I'll go ahead and add that to the news article.

Yes, I don't see the point of spending my money for an unfinished game like this...
But I don't want 1k EXP per battle as well... I just want to get a realistic amount of EXP for the stuff I do.

ARGO: Let me get this straight starting from your opening argument.
You don't like the game,
You don't like the way it plays,
You are sick of it and bored,
You want the game to give out more exp but will not get a premium to do it but you also don't want to work hard to really get it.
But you like it better than EVE because the grind isn't as hard.
Is that about it all in a nutshell?
Premium or Elite is the way this game works for any form of speeding up the ranks, Sorry if you disagree but that's the way it is for now.

This particular case can be counted only as a secondary factor, because according to the Ultimate Challenge concept big clans, as well as alliances, are not supposed to dominate the whole map easily. More territory you have - more difficult and challenging for you will be to control it. And some of the changes are supposed to improve the CW experience in this way.

According to that 50 were made. And there is clearly a picture of 1...

Vallter: JagdTiger and SturmTiger existed as 2 different vehicles, but we cannot say, that there was a SturmJagdTiger.

Vallter: We are working on it, but cannot say you any ETA, since 85% of job should be performed by BigWorld.

Vallter: The upcoming update 7.0 is not a content, but game mechanics patch. So we probably won’t include any tanks in it. Almost in each patch we add some tank characteristic change, so it is possible.
But I can say, that M103 will be introduced in Q1 2012.

GeneralDirection: We're going to pass this issue on to IGN since they may not be aware of the promo codes timing out. That said, I discovered a quick workaround to get a new trial promo code, so hopefully it works for you:
Clear your browser data (cache, cookies, etc.)Close your browser completelyOpen your browser and visit http://login.ign.com...-tanks/preview/Click the free trial button
Please let me know if this works for you.

I went away from the computer for 5 minutes or so, then when I clicked "submit" button, it would say that code is invalid, and the option for free trial was gone. It makes me feel good for the WoT as it is obviously perceived as a strong enough reason to cancel their free trial, but I have no interest in IGN Prime apart from participating in the WOT tourney, and especially since I was seemingly able to do it for free just a short while ago.

GeneralDirection: We're looking into this now, apologies for the issues.

I understand that they want my money, but as they are no use for me apart from this tournament I am very tempted to just walk away.

GeneralDirection: What do you mean by the promo code no longer working? Is it a code that you received a while back, or today when this was announced?
