FIX THE PAYOUTS.

ARGO: For starters, your whole way of even going about bringing up the idea / request of change in the game is all wrong.
1. You haven't list which Tiger tank you have or it's outfitting.
2. You have gone about it in a most impolite manner.
3. Your trashing every reply you get with personal insults.
How do you expect to get anywhere in this thread by doing this other than trolled and or -1ed to death?
Either way I myself have had ALL the Tiger tanks and have never really experienced things being near that bad. I am not saying it didn't happen but there are also many factors to why it could happen. I like the Tiger "P" because it is simply a perfect well rounded tank for using and yes I make excellent coin in it and I to run a camo net a toolbox, and a rammer. I also run the oil, repair kit, and med kit. I trained my crew to 100% on repairs as well. Th's the combo I use, maybe it will work to improve your chances but another thing you may want to consider is how you fight, Tigers are traditionally sniper tanks and not I repeat NOT dog fighters like Russian or American tanks... Something to consider because if your not getting hits your not getting coin.

I opened a tech support ticket about this issue, but I am uncertain if that was the correct thing to do in order to resolve this.

GeneralDirection: Email addresses of team members -- at least for the registration purpose -- is not too important; yours as team captain is, though.
If your team manages to take 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th place then we'll have to get the correct email address at that point in time. :)

I have been around and around their site and even with the 30 Day Free Trial selected it keeps saying "Problem processing payment". No info handy there to explain anything either. Am I missing something? What part of FREE involves a payment? They got all my info. Still no free stuff. Just a bunch of new cookies and fluffy emails in my inbox.

GeneralDirection: It looks like -- based on when I signed up for my free trial -- that there's a temporary $1 charge applied to verify the credit card (this is usually standard to verify against potential fraud). The charge disappeared from my card after a day or two.

There are many in the forums capable of making the calculation from there. I am one of those (A 19-year trucker who traveled to every part of the continental states regularly... the US time zones are no problem for me).
Not that others wouldn't mind the new timing update (they surely would).

GeneralDirection - Lead Community Manager
With tomorrow morning’s regularly scheduled server restart – set for 5AM UTC on September 30, 2011
Does anyone see a problem here?
Here is a hint for the calendar impaired - tomorrow is not a Monday.
Asyranok is right - restarts happen whenever WG.net feels like it.
On topic:
Seems the other option would have been to raise the exp costs so that they fell in line with credits earned rather than lowering credit costs.

GeneralDirection: That was actually my mistake. Maintenance takes place on Fridays for the RU server, but not NA or EU. That said, there will be a brief maintenance tomorrow (or tonight for those of you living west of EDT) for NA and EU so these changes can be deployed to all three servers at the same time. :)
I'm going to get the news updated with times more familiar to NA players.

View Postbumpkin, on Sep 29 2011 - 21:28, said: I believe the intent may be to shock new players into buying gold earlier, because the price of a Tier IV is going to be a real eye-opener.
Unless of course the cost is also tied to the credits earned. Right now you can easily earn 4-6k per battle at the low tiers with almost no repair costs. Plus it takes around 15 or so battles to get out of the low tiers. If they lower the cost the credits earned should go down and the time to train a crew increase.

GeneralDirection: I've created a few non-Premium accounts recently to test this. I also tried to "play" like a player fresh to the game would to get a feel for the initial progression. It's actually quite jarring if you win your first match, because in some cases you'll gain enough experience to fully elite your tier I tank, but then you only earn a few thousand credits. In total it currently takes anywhere from 10-14 matches to reach the point where you can afford your first tank purchase. That's with many of them being victories, too.
So there was a very real barrier to early progression that we felt could be smoothed out, and these changes address that.

Etc.

Tanitha: Hi Killjoy.
T5 lights are needed to kill the high tier artillery, and T10 tanks are in battles with the high tier artillery as well.
T5 artillery has a place in high tier matches.
If something as simple as you suggested was doing it right. It would have been done a long time ago.
As for the other question, "why wasn't it fixed earlier?"
The matchmaker is tweaked often, it always has been and will be. Its just scheduled in for for a lot of development after the 7.0 patch.
But the game is ever changing and expanding. Everything that's added to the game has a effect on the matchmaker.
T8 premiums, Other premiums, T8 artillery, T5 lights, events.
Even if the matchmaker was adjusted next week and 99% of the players were happy with it. Patch 7.0, new physics engine, the french tree, US tree changes, etc... Will all effect it, and it will need constant tweaking. The matchmaker will never be something that's left, and something that will always need tweaking.

Tan.

To me that would do more to help fix the tier differences in the matchmaker than just change the tiers.

Tanitha: Right. But in the mean time, we, as in NA CM's can concentrate on having regular low/mid tier events. such as 1.x -> 2.x exp 1.x -> 2.x credits etc.. on a regular basis.
You might or might not have noticed this current change.. But we are working on that.

View PostDelta_7, on Sep 28 2011 - 16:59, said: Thank you Tanitha - I look forward to the patch and I expect the player base will be as eager as me.

Tanitha: No problems at all Delta.
A lot of players dont like the matchmaker, and from a business point of view, the majority of the players need to be happy, so based on that alone the matchmaker needs looking at.
Taking the Wargaming badge off for a sec, I'll speak personally as a player who's played in excess of 10,000+ games.
Personally I've never had any real/major issues with the matchmaker as it is.
There is a few tweaks that I'd personally like to see.
"personally" I like the sound of a 3 arty per side limit.
"Personally" I think getting a game in T8 artillery is difficult.
But with the every day tier spread matchmaking. I remember so I'm sure you will be experiencing the same thing. That..........
If you are in a smaller tank, as a new player you do get frustrated, you think, I'm the better player, I've shot this tank 5x and barely done any damage, now hes going to turn around and one shot me, if I had a bigger tank he would have been dead!, Why am I up against tanks 3 tiers above me 3/4 of the time... etc..
But,, when you level up to T10, and play the bigger tanks. The other side of the fence, looks completely different, and not like you imagined all the way up while you were leveling. By the time you get to Tier 10 you have learned so much more compared to when you were on T5,6,8 etc. you then start to realize that you get paid exp and credits based on what you do, how much damage you do, or how much damage others do while you are spotting for them, And all that is based on the level difference between yourself and the tanks being damaged. So after people get to T10 most of them go back to playing mid range tanks, because they are fun, and more of a challenge, and they pay a ton more, especially when shooting tanks above your tier.
But, the problem with the above is, although most people who get to T10, look back and realize the MM isn't bad after all. The newer players who are still leaving up to T10 are often unhappy about the 3-4 tier spread and having to fight with bigger tanks, so a lot of players drop off...
So regardless of how good or bad the matchmaker is. Isn't really the issue to me, a bigger issue is how do the new players who are leveling up, perceive the matchmaker. Because if players dont enjoy the leveling and mid level games, a lot of them dont stay to get to top tier games.
***
Other random thoughts.
During beta. After leveling up most of the tanks in game. One of my favorites was the leopard, where I had 1000's of games in it, and it was my most played tank. Similarly now i would imagine the T5 lights are equally enjoyable.
At the moment one of my most played tanks is the T5 KV, or the Lowe. With the mid Tier German mediums being one of the favorites amongst the mod team.
If the tier spread was reduced, high tier battles would then become mostly T9/T10 like clan-wars, and that's not ideal either.
If you are in a smaller tank, you cant get into a dogfight with a larger tank or it will one shot you. You need to hit and run/hide, while other tanks are in front of you. Or better still hit and run/hide with other tanks behind you shooting over your shoulder then you get the spotting damage from the other tanks and 1/2 their exp too. Or if you ar in a light, or medium, a lot of time you can run circles around a bigger slower tank, especially things like KV's, so there's no way they can even hit you.
***
Personally I think one of the main things with fixing the matchmaker, is to have a nice in game tutorial / guide, teaching the new/mid tier players, how to get the most from their tanks, and teaching them some kind of tactics. How exp and credits is earned. Etc..
Anyway.. improving the matchmaker isn't a simple click of the button. Things like this are connected in many ways to many things. Which is why a separate section of the development team will be made after the 7.0 patch, to work on this situation thoroughly.
And please note, The above is just a unofficial personal discussion of a player, I am in management and not linked to the game development team, they are a different section.
My opinions above, are my own, and not of wargaming or the development team.
And also please note, my stats aren't great since release due to work interrupting any games I try to play usually : ) My stats before release were top100.

Tanitha: Please speak for yourself, and not wargaming.
After the 7.0 patch is released, the matchmaker will be the main and highest priority of a large proportion of the development team.
We will be forming a special development section especially to concentrate on this issue of concern.
Like all aspects of the game, we will continually work on improvement as well as new features, and try to balance both aspects as evenly as possible.

View Postjankar, on Sep 28 2011 - 07:05, said: Again I came across situation where position of our team mate has been revealed to the enemy by one of ours. I would like to find out what is your opinion about such action? Is it justified?
Last time I witnessed incident of this kind it was during battle of Westfield. I was pinned down in my IS, by a KV-5 and PzKpfwVI in the village in the center of the map. My team mates were slowly giving in under increasing pressure of the enemy. The battle seems to be lost.
It was at this point that one of our team, already destroyed early in the battle, gave away position of our Jagdpanther, hiding in the south-eastern corner of the map. Up to this moment I didn't pay much attention to this part of the map. I guess the Jagdpanther took advantage of the thick bushes on the eastern slope, overlooking our base, in anticipation of the unavoidable final assault of the enemy.
I posted a short message that betraying position of our own is not a good sportsmanship. Reaction were mixed - some demanded harsh punishment for the "coward", others preferred to let him play the way he likes. At the end I thought even if this person haven't contributed much to team effort, it is still not as bad as to befriend enemy, communicate with them as they were allies and betray our team mate, at the very time he needed our support.
So, what do you think?
EDIT
Thanks for your replies. At the time I wrote this post I was not aware that giving away position on the map to the enemy is an offense. Bannable or not it still have impact on the game result, there is no internal mechanism to prevent it, so however ugly, it is still part of a game play that will happen, no matter how many screen shots I take.

Tanitha: Your question is very baited, You for example have already decided and announced that the other player was a coward.
But coward or not, one situation is against the game rules, the other isn't.
With the situation of the defending TD, you can never think to know what other people you dont know, and aren't in much communication with are doing.
It could be a dad teaching his toddler how to shoot a tank for 5 mins. A player who parked their tank in the nearest tree to goto the toilet or answer the phone.
In a "random" game you have no idea who the other people are, or what they are doing, and you have no control over what they do. So the only thing to do and prevent yourself getting angry over minor situations is to concentrate on your own tank, and play your own game. You also need to be mindful of what your team are doing and where they are. As you said, you didn't know where your team mates or this TD was.
If you have high tier TD's defending a position, You could have paid attention to that, and gone in that direction preferably with a fellow tank. Then knowing that if you ran into combat you would have a high tier TD backing you up and firing over your shoulder.
Its very very common for tanks to go off solo, into dangerous area's, run into a overwhelming enemy force, then look around and blame all the other tanks in the game after they died. Its very important to be aware of what your team is doing and where they are, and you need to move to suit them, because they wont move to suit you.
In a clanwars/clan company game, the situation is completely different. Then you know you have 14~ players on your team that you can trust, that are on team speak, you will have a appointed leader to listen to, and it should be organized.
Expecting the same from a random game, wont accomplish much except frustration..

Quote As far as I know there are no hacks in World of Tanks. There has been times where I swear there is, but there isn't.

Tanitha: Everything except for graphics is server side. But that still can lead to people being creative to gain a advantage.
Like adjusting the tracer graphics. (Temp fixed / disabled)
Or crit hit location skins. (little advantage / legal)
Etc..
If it was possible to edit a auto aim, I doubt it would be a advantage over manual aiming.
Its not like hitting a enemy tank is difficult manually, and manually you can aim where you want to hit, and lead moving targets.

There was actually a really clever one I saw that made all buildings and structures see through, I eventually got rid of it cause im kinda a graphic whore, but it was useful in city brawling since you could still see your opponent and where he was looking as opposed to normal where you have to sorta move your camera over all the obstacles.

Tanitha: Hello Guys / Gals.
Just to clarify what is happening here, now..
The format for the "you ask, we reply" was changed this week. This thread is here for you to discuss the questions and answers that was posted into the opening post. It is NOT a thread for the posting of new questions.
With the development team answering questions, we have swapped to a format of weekly questions/answers on a specific topic. This is so a large amount of questions from the player base can then be directed to the development team's specialist in that specific area. We believe this will enable us to get you better and more thorough answers to your questions.
The topic for this week, is clans and clanwars.
And you may ask any questions you need answered on those topics in this thread.
http://forum.worldof...imate-conquest/
On Friday that thread will be closed and the questions will be sent off to the development team, and then on Monday the answers should be back to provide to you. Tuesday we will then open up a new questions/answers thread for another new hot topic.
So please, do not flood this thread with new questions, that isn't the purpose of this thread.
If you have a question you need to ask developers that is on a different topic to the one being covered this week (Clans). You can try Overlords thread here.
http://forum.worldof...eloper-answers/
In that thread on the opening posts, is 1000's of questions answered by the development team. If you have a browse through there, there's a very good change your question could already be covered.
Regards
Tan.

ChrisK: Grunt!!!

Well, I also have a few other Military Occupational Specialties now, but 11B (infantry) was my first and still my favorite. :Smile_honoring:

When I went through Jump School at Benning (a while before The Chieftain, when we still actually stood in the door waiting to jump with our hands out on the skin of the aircraft, none of this 45 degree angle walkout stuff!), I got to be first in the door on my second jump (as correctly mentioned by Chief, the jump with the most quitters!). However, I loved it and went without any hesitation. One time I was lucky enough to jump twice in one day from a UH-60A Blackhawk doing "elevators." I'm also authorized to wear several different sets of foreign jump wings: Greek, Israeli, French, and Slovak. Good times for sure! :Smile-izmena:

GeneralDirection: The latest You Ask, We Reply answers can be found below. Please keep in mind we were not able to have all questions answered this time; we'll continue to press for answers where possible to keep everyone informed on the latest changes coming to the game. With that in mind, starting with today's posting, we'll be shifting into a more focused format for the series. This means that the answers threads will be set to read-only. However, we'll also provide a link to a new thread pertaining to the next topic. The posting format will be:
Monday - Answers posted.Tuesday - New topic thread opened to begin accepting questionsFriday - Topic thread closed to be sent to designers
We're going to try our best to do this weekly, and we think this new focused format will help with that since we won't have to bombard the same game designer every week with new questions. However, as with all facets of game development, we may not be able to always post answers the next Monday. If this is the case, we will make the community aware of the delay.
Click here to submit questions for You Ask, We Reply: Clans & Ultimate Conquest You Ask, We Reply - Bulletin 3 1. When is the IS-4 getting to tier 10 and which gun will then be equipped?
· To move IS-4 to the Tier 10 we first have to design the Object 252. Unfortunately, this tank is not ready yet and we cannot giveany ETA on this. Regarding the gun, it will remain the same, but probably some characteristics can be changed for balance purposes.
2. When will we see the updated American Tree? (patch number, not date)
· Introducing the French tanks is for the moment higher priority than updating the American tree. You will get more information about this after the 7.x patch.
3. Why are the tier V light tanks so expensive in experience?
· The tier V light tanks are expensive because they are top of their class with excellent performance.
4. Do you have release dates for World of Warplanes and World of Battleships?
· We cannot give you the exact date since even closed beta tests have not started yet. The date will depend on the test results.
5. When will be able to see information on the British tank tree?
· After French tanks introduction.
6. Are you going to make the in-game chassis of the Tiger (P) and Ferdinand the same size, since it was historically the same chassis?
· The chassis on both tanks are currently the same size.
7. Any plan on adding Tier X mediums or TDs?
· This question is currently under discussion. In any case, we will introduce previously announced tanks first. You can find them here in the Full Tech Trees: http://game.worldoft...rt/+tank_trees/
8. How will tanks defend themselves from airstrikes when the 3 games are released?
· As it has been stated many times, the three games will be independent from each other. It will not be possible to combine the threegames into one. The only part of these games that will be interconnected is theClan Wars. For the moment, we are still discussing how we will be able to combine the three games into one Clan Wars account.
9. What is the approximate ETA of World of Warplanes Beta?
· Unfortunately, we cannot give you any ETA now, since the World of Warplanes project is on the Alpha testing stage.
10. In what patch will the t110 be released? Will we lose our t30 when it changes to a tank destroyer?
· Introducing the French tanks is, for the moment, higher priority than updating the American tree, so we cannot answer this tillafter the 7.x patch. You will though be able to keep your T30 as a tank destroyer and receive the T110.
11. Will the M103 come in the next patch? If not, will the T34 receive buffs in the meantime?
· The upcoming update 7.0 is not a content patch, but a game mechanics patch. So we probably won’t include any tanks in it. In each patch though we do add some tank characteristic changes, so it is possible that the T34 will receive some buffs.
12. I would like a definitive time on when we can play with the French tanks.
· Unfortunately we have some issues with multi-turret support and the automatic loading module for the French tanks. It is a very difficult feature to be implement and it has used up a lot of our time. The French tanks will for sure be added with 7.1 patch update, which will come out this November-December.
13. Do you plan to offer any other payment methods, for example, to get gold with text messaging?
· Yes, we are trying to expand the amount of partners we currently have. So we will add this payment method for sure at some point.
14. Do you plan to go beyond 1954 and add more tiers?
· No, we are not planning to expand the current timeframe of our game.
15. Why do you insist on putting tank destroyers and SPG's into city maps. History shows these vehicles avoided cities and towns.
· Every SPG can be useful in city maps. We are not planning to implement any kind of filters for maps.
16. Are you planning on bringing Clan Wars out of Beta sometime?
· Yes, for sure. After we unite all three servers.
17. Are there any major changes (to CW) coming up?
· Yes, we shared some of them recently.
18. Will you ever add the ability to change your "in game" name? even if it would cost gold?
· Yes it will be, but the development of this feature has low priority, so it won’t be implemented anytime soon.
19. Will there be an official color blind mod? Or a customizable graphical user interface?
· Yes, we are planning to implement this in the future. But for now this is low priority.
20. Are wheeled armoured vehicles going to be added to World of Tanks? Like the Sdkfz 222, Puma, M8 Grayhound, or the Pantserwagen?
· No, we are not planning to add any wheeled armoured vehicle because with current gameplay, they won’t find their place on the digital battlefields.
21. Will you alter the matchmaking code sometime in the future to make battles a little more fair? I know a slew of people who wouldn't mind waiting an extra minute or two just so they can have a good time. Grinding tier 6 is becoming very difficult when you have to fight t8-10 enemies.
· Yes, we are constantly working on the matchmaking and soon we will create a special department specifically for this. According to the statistics and feedback they gather, matchmaking will be improved significantly.
22. Will you eventually add daily doubles for credits like you do for experience points or will that be kept for special events only?
· It’s kept for special events only, and we increase credit income for all battles during them and only for the first one. Secondly, we have these specials almost every weekend, so you can receive double credit every weekend for each first win on each of your tanks.
23. When the German Second TD line will be out? And any other planned updates for this year?
· We will add some in Q4 2011
24. Will we ever be able to select which map we battle in, or at the very least type of map?
· We are not planning to implement any map filters, because it will be a big issue for matchmaking system
25. When for the multi-core support?
· We will be implementing multi-core support as soon aspossible.
26. Do you think you will add the Sherman Firefly?
· It will probably be included in the British Tank Tree.
27. CENTURION....CENTURION.....CENTURION.......When!?......The greatest tank ever!
· It will be included with the rest of British tanks in Q2 2012. 28. Have you noticed that the turrets of some tanks are misaligned from the center, a bit to the right, or left? (example, Panzer IV, VK 3601H). Where they like thishistorically? If not, will this be fixed?
· The PzKpfw IV is made according to its historical ancestor and the VK 3601 (H) according to the blueprints.
29. Is it possible to have a real time counter that shows the experience and credits you've made while playing?
· We will rework the end battle statistics and it will include more information. But we are not planning to add this specific feature as it will cause extra workload on the server with only a few bonuses from implementing it.
30. Will it be possible to have shells flying through buildings, and capable to hit tanks behind them (granted at lower velocity)?
· No, such shells won’t be implemented in the game because covering is one of the key gameplay features.
31. Will there be a matchmaker based on player statistics? One which takes into account what upgrades a tank has, etc?
· The matchmaker system will be never be based on player statistics, but it will take into account the upgrades installed on the tanks, and increase/decrease balance weight according to that.
32. Is there a plan to show all modules installed in the tank while in battle?
· No, because there is no reasonable explanation to include this feature.
33. When will tracers be put back in the game, if ever?
· Yes, for sure. We are working on the best security system for the game files. Once implemented, we will return the tracers back. Since it is very difficult to develop, we cannot give you any ETA on this.
34. Could therebe an Icon on the screen to signify whether the auto aim is on or off?
· We will think about implementing this feature in the future.
35. When will the American Christie tanks be released (most likely)?
· We cannot give you any ETA on this, because we have alot of more tanks to be added to the game first.
36. Will the Christie Tanks be faster than Tier 4, 5 light tanks or even the T2 light tank in WoT?
· Probably only certain types of terrain.
37. When will the VK3601(H) become a heavy tank?
· When we implement the major part of announced changes for German tree.
38. What tier(s) will the premium SPGs and TDs be?
· Unfortunately, I cannot give you any information regarding this, but we will announce it one month before adding them to the game.
39. Do you think you will ever put in ,where, if your tank is not destroyed, and after the game is over, you view it in your garage you could see all the holes/dings/scratches from the battle before you hit the repair button? I’m sure it is too much to show on dead tanks, but maybe ones that survived?
· No, we are not planning to implement this, because it will affect server functionality and decrease server stability.
40. Is WOT ever going to be available on gaming consoles like PS3 or Xbox-360?
· We have no plans on trans-platforming our game to the consoles. But anything can happen!
41. Are you planning on adding Flamethrower Tanks/Turrets/Guns? They're close-combat tanks!
· No, we are not planning to add such tanks because their main purpose was to struggle with infantry and we do not have this in-game.
42. Are you planning on adding Storms to maps like sand storms, snow storms, rain storms, and etc?
· Yes, we are planning to implement different weather effects. It will be implemented with other post-effects announced on Wargaming.TV
43. Do you intend to activate the second gun on tanks like the Maus or E-100, or will the multi turret/gun feature be exclusively for french tanks?
· We will activate second turret for all tanks, once we add this feature to the game
44. We know the WoT accounts will be shared with WoWP and WoB. But if you are planning EU and US server like for WoT, will a player with a WoT account on the US/EU server be able to play on a different server than their current WoT server? Can you explain a bit how the roaming feature will work? Will people be able to play another server permanently and also join a clan on the EU server?
· No, you won’t be able to join the server permanently. You will visit it for sometime, but your main data will be stored on your server. If you wish, you will always play on the EU server, but your nickname will have, for example, US tag. Since Clan wars will be united for all three server, clans will be the same for all three servers. This means, that there won’t be a EU clan. The will be clan A, leader of which was registered on EU server. And you will be able to join this clan.
