Quemapueblos: Dear Commanders,We have further reviewed the incident of last
Friday involving SirFoch and his “Chrysler K GF rant” video, and
know we could have handled the situation a lot better. We strongly
support our players’, including our Community Contributors’, right
to speak critically about us and our games. We acted too quickly
and over the line when we threatened to have YouTube remove
SirFoch’s video through a copyright infringement complaint and we
are apologizing for that. We’re committed to doing a better job on
this front. We’re going to improve the way we communicate with our
Community and our Community Contributors, and as part of that
effort we will work with them on more detailed, specific guidelines
to help ensure incidents like this don’t happen again. Our official
position is that Wargaming will not take copyright action against
opinions based on our publicly released content.Over the weekend we
released a statement to some media outlets regarding the content of
SirFoch’s video that inferred that SirFoch’s videos contained hate
speech and homophobia. While we would obviously not want such
content to be associated with any of our games – this video clearly
did not. We apologize for this statement, and we don't stand behind
those claims. We love our players and our contributors – and we
appreciate their honesty and commitment – we are committed to using
this incident to grow and improve. Jointly signed byThaine

The_Chieftain: Not really my position to say if it was worth it or not, as that
implies a cost/benefit calculation. The Iraqis I interacted with
seemed pretty solid people, worried more about their childrens'
futures, or getting a good price for vegetables down the local
market, and trying to enjoy life, than worrying about who was
running the country. To that end, I think they were better off for
our excursion than not. Of course, that is before one considers the
folks in Mosul, where I spent six weeks, who have been having a
rather lousy time of it the last couple of years, but the causes
for that are somewhat un-related. Is that future worth a year of my
life, and all the associated dollar and blood costs that have been
drained from the US? Who's to say?

PREDY4, on May 21 2017 - 13:07, said: A lot of people complain about blowout battles and
because people misunderstand the main reason for them, a lot of
misplaced angst goes into "bad teams", "bad MM", "rigging", etc.
But let me point out that blowouts really should be
more common than many people think. Once you begin to lose, the
chance of losing accelerates. I did some computations to show
this. It’s a very simple probabilistic model (a "Monte Carlo"
simulation). The chance of killing an enemy tank is directly
proportional to the number of tanks remaining. For this I have left
out capping and ties. A blow out is defined as a
result of between 15-0 and 15-4. I simulated 10,000 battles and the
probability of each blowout score was determined. For this first
example the teams are exactly balanced. Win %
50/50 15-0 0.58%
15-1 1.81%
15-2 3.93%
15-3 6.61%
15-4 8.22% Any Blowout:
21.15% So it appears that in a 50/50 match you should expect
a result worse than 15:5 every 5 battles. (This doesn't indicate
which side you are on, so 15:4 and 4:15 are the same.)
Changing the balance does affect the number of blowouts, but
not dramatically. I did four different balance ratios, but I will
only show the greatest imbalance. You can interpolate the others.
This simulation shows 10000 battles between two teams that are
significantly unbalanced. Win % 83/17
15-0 1.27%
15-1 3.97%
15-2 7.30%
15-3 10.20%
15-4 11.60% Any Blowout:
34.34% So, for every 3 battles, where the odds are as uneven
as 87/13, there should be one blowout. TLDR: MM is fine, and
blowouts are about as common as would be expected from basic
statistical probability.

Link on message: #11001386
Link on message: #11001386
The_Chieftain: I don't know if he is right or not as I have never looked it up,
but he is distinguishing between the possible maximum and minimum
values, and the probability that those values will be reached. He
is saying that the majority of pen rolls will be plus or minus
12.5%, with the minority being more extreme than that. Given the
spread shot pattern for accuracy works in such a manner, I won't
discount it. As a team game in particular, I am personally
fine with the plus/minus 25. Two things will mitigate the
unfortunate effect (face it, of the plus/minus, everyone is
complaining about the minus part of it, rarely mentioning the
plus). Firstly, it emphasizes maneuver over mathematics or
accuracy. Getting into a position to take multiple shots, which
immediately makes positioning more important than any single
roll, or to aim at the side where even a minus roll will
have little downside. Secondly, if you are playing as a team and
focusing fire, one or two low rolls won't make a lot of difference
out of all the outgoing fire. This would be particularly so in
co-ordinated, competetive games like clans or e-sports where surely
we should be rewarding good team play better than any individual
star player's skill. So the negative emphasizes positioning
and teamwork, while the plus provides a level of thought that the
recipient has to consider. "How likely is it that I will get
penned? How critical is it that I don't get penned even one time
out of three?" All while giving an additional level of hope to the
undergunned guy shooting at him who, if he can stay alive long
enough and is good enough, can nibble away at his opponent, even if
it's only one out of every few shots.

opinions in a constructive way. That said, Contributors that
we work with directly are held to a higher code of conduct and

South to the M25, then back East to Dover, then another loop back
onto the M25 onramp I was on half an hour previously, and finally
onto the A30. Sigh. And then my camera crew wanted to go to
Monkey World. Left my cow behind at the Bovington hotel.
Driving 90 minutes back to pick him up. Then off to Duxford, by way
of Chichester, and Tesco. I'm racking up a lot of miles, was in
Sedan two days ago.
