statistics is statistics
t62a 264 avg pen and can shoot 3 times after maus shot once, avg 960 dmg vs maus 1 shot avg 490
leo 1 268pen etc.. etc...
too much pen for mediums, mediums should almost self destruct facing a heavy tank frontally, forcing them to flank, not go rull down and bounce 500 pen RNG rolls on the turret
meeh just checked your profile, why did I write all this, you are biased as I see most of your battles is in medium tanks which means your opinions in this area are no longer valid to me

Ectar: That's correct, all my battles are mainly in mediums I
like to think I have a pretty decent win ratio on my mediums and
know to play them. I'm actually wanting to play heavies
more. I know for a fact that when I'm playing mediums
that I'm not looking to brawl with heavies regardless of what
my pen is. I want to get behind and beside then. I'm only going to
take a shot frontally if I'm sure I'll pen and even then I'll
rarely use premium ammo because I like to think I can get by
without it. Dismissing my comments and saying I'm
biased because I'm a medium player is like me dismissing your
comments because you're a heavy player. That's a crazy
scenario. What's next, we go into win ratio's and average
damage? Or is it just "I've got more battles therefor my
comments are right and you're wrong". It's the attitudes like
that which split the community and not a path we need to go
down. Leo 1, 268 pen yes. Are you honestly
saying you're going to brawl in the Leo 1? It's best armour is 70
and that's the front of the turret a Leo 1 on the front line
wouldn't last 2 mins in a battle...... Again you're going
back into specific situations where of course 1 tank is going to
beat the other especially when you're setting the scenario.
There is no magic "pick me to win tank". Sure there is some
tanks that can impact a battle more but it will always depend on
your team, the battletier of your match and the map you're playing.

penetration, why does mediums, that are flankers, the need to be
able to pen maus in the front turret?? mediums should not have more

and yes when maus move from position to another position it is very likely there is a medium showing turret only which is almost impossible to pen, even with premium rounds and pounds the maus, right in to the front 3-4 times till maus got in to another position
mediums right now have speed, mobility, tier 10 heavy armored turrets and tier 10 heavy cannons
so what is the point of heavy ? 100 more alpha damage ? ohhhh!
no, mediums have to many advantages, remove turret armor, or remove tier 10 heavy cannons and lower pen to 220 ish and it will be fine

Ectar: I thought it was that TD's are overpowered? Most
mediums don't do more than 390 average damage per shot and
they need to aim those shots. (exceptions being the 121 which does
440 and the RU tanks which do 320). The Maus does 490
average damage. Why complain about enemy tanks using premium
rounds against you, when you can also use premium rounds back and
your rounds will do more damage? 311 pen will deal with
anything you face. Again it's a very rare situation where a
medium is going to be sitting in front of you expecting a brawl and
if it truly is a 1 on 1 duel, you have 3000 health against a
maximum of 2050. When you start adding in things like "But
what if the Maus is not full health" to the conversation, it
becomes an impossible discussion as like I said previously in
each battle there is multiple variations to consider and it's not
always as clear cut as X tank is better than X tank of another
branch/type.

The IS-7 is a tank that has always had mixed opinions, I

damage alone. As a T3 will never have the damage output of a higher
tank. It would only work correctly if the tier of the vehicle was
used in the calculation for the display too. Does it do that? Not
according to the patch description. Also the idea to have to
"unlock" it from fresh is poor execution. Idea was good,
implementation the game rather poor.

Ectar: You can't just stick 2 tanks in an open field 500 meter
apart and use that as a comparison. You'll pretty much never get an
encounter like that in a game. I've never seen a med sit in
front of a Maus and trade shots with it and I've never
seen one solo duel as It's always a medium flanking or
getting the Maus as it's fighting stuff to it's
front. If the Maus is sitting flush straight to you and
doing nothing to make use if it's armour then sure you can probably
brawl it. Unless it's near the end of a battle however I highly
doubt you'll find any mediums putting themselves in that situation
however as the Maus will likely be at the front of the enemy push
and a medium thinking he can brawl heavies is usually a dead
medium.

using hard cover and expecting a tree to protect you (not much use

Nonexistent mobility and camo. Ectar: Good points. Most of the slow tanks in-game
have nasty big high alpha guns to scare people away. The Maus
is a tank that relies on it's armour which in town maps is
effective but more open maps it's a prime arty target. It's a
love/hate tank that is at the mercy of the random map pool.

their best when the battle has developed and they can pop out or
swoop down, unload a clip and then reload in safety. As a sniper
they're ok medium range but teribad at long range and shouldn't
really be used that way. They are best used when their clips
are unloaded and all the shots count.

for many reasons but mostly as it is probably the last one when
there will be any amount of veterans alive to take part into the

more special article about it or maybe WG could send a team to take
some photos etc. Finlander

likely come after the weekend when the staff members who are there,
are back in the office.

But i still think there should be events in important dates. It is
all up to the imagination of WG what kind of these events should
be. They do not all need to be XP free Stuff etc events but maybe
some small competitions and maybe randomly appearing bonuses or
what ever would WG consider sensible. FInlander

won't however use it as a reason to give players the best special
we've ever done. Looking at what's coming with the
missions I'm sure what's available will be well received.

Ectar: If you want we can give you the same special from 2011 if we're
going to use that as an example?
Bear in mind lots
of WW2 events will be 70 year anniversaries this year or next. Does
this mean every future historical date should also should be
treated the same way? (Battle of the Bulge etc)
It starts a vicious circle of entitlement. (Oh but you did
XXXX for D-Day, why is that more important that XXXX battle in
Czech Republic, or XXX battle in Poland, or XXXX event with the
American Army, or XXXX event in Finland, or XXXX event in France).
When you look at the bigger picture it's not as easy to
commemorate events as you think and it's certainly not a good idea
making 1 event seem more important that others. @Flection I
think you're misunderstanding me. I'm trying to say it's not
cool to say "Hey give us XXXX discount because it's D-Day" - We
already have a weekend event planned and the last thing that would
happen is the event to be changed based on player demands on the
day the event is announced. Players will always want stuff
like that no matter what the date is. When it comes to
historical battles it's about the tanks. We ask for player feedback
on the content and if there was anything insensitive or
disrespectful to the people that fought then content would be
changed. My points were never intended to be controversial and if
you've taken them that way I can only apologize. As
before, all I'm trying to say is that players shouldn't expect that
because certain date is a historical event, it means
we should give out higher than normal discounts or
bonuses. Especially when it's common knowledge we're already doing
something for that date. Basically before it's even announced
you've already disregarded it because you wanted something more
special and the only person who set that expectation was you.

even to someone like me who agrees with you, your phrasing comes
across as somewhat harsh. However, the reason the 70th
Anniversary of D Day is so special is that for the UK veterans this
is the last time that they will go to France. The D Day association
has said that they will not do it again. This 70th Anniversary is
the last time that the veterans from the UK will go en masse back
to the beaches for the comemorative services. This is the final
salute for those that lived through that day. That is why the 70th
event will be different from all the future anniversary events that
come after it.
DA_ZOHAN, on 05 June 2014 - 02:06 PM, said: Hi Ectar. There is a lot right about what you said.
However, There are some times in a year in which the
events should be truly EPIC. 1. WG Anniversary. (for
obvious reasons) 2. VE Day- (For obvious reasons) 3. VJ Day-
(" ") 3. New Years + Xmas. 4.
Mega-Anniversary of Major Events in WWII Warfare like the defeat of
German Forces in Stalingrad, Kursk, D-Day. These examples
are when I think WG should come out and blow their clients away
with MEGA events. Yes, I would love it if every W/E event
could be like this, especially with X2 XP for every top 10 win, but
that would be taking the mickey. Note in my OP, I didn't say
every special, but I pointed out the 70th Anniversary of The
beginning of the end of the 3rd Reich.

I'm trying to say is why should the points you make above, mean you
should get better than normal bonuses/discounts in a computer game?
We have an event at Normandy right now and there will be
pictures up soon on our Flickr along with an article to commemorate
this event. I just feel it's wrong to look at it as a
celebration or to be happy for the event because you got XXX
discount or XXX bonus. It makes D-Day into something else, an
excuse to get freebies. That's not a very nice way to remember the
past.

events not as historical commemoration, but as a "oooh I'm going to
get goodies". It's not up to me personally but I don't
want people to remember the past by showering them with gifts.
I think that's a bad way to remember major events. Sure we
can do a tie in event and perhaps do stuff for the tanks/vehicles
that took part. But I don't feel it's right to go overboard
and make it seem more like a celebration.

More specifically Nuremberg
which was the heart of the German war machine (not the production
but the moral of it). There are still monuments standing from
WWII. What WWII era game wouldn't want to go there?

easier if we didn't have to guess. Taking a guess based on your
username Belgium is covered by our French team which is why it's
not an option. Austria is covered by our German team, Slovakia is
covered by our Czech team.
johnnydangerful, on 15 April 2014 - 11:07 PM, said: No Germany option? Seriously? Ectar: Germany would not be an option in this poll as it's
for the English speaking team. We have a separate team who
cover our German fanbase and they organise events all over
Germany (nRicochet, SergeantBaba, WARGAMER, Panzergert).
Poland, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Turkey,
Spain were all deliberately left out as we have dedicated
Community teams who already do events in those regions. The English
speaking team (Brynd, iScending, iPaul72 and myself) are
responsible for organising events across all of Europe (not just in
the UK) in the countries that don't have dedicated teams... Hence
the reason for this poll.

Ectar: To say "It's the anniversary of XXXX historical event, you must
give us big discounts/bonuses" is a bit disrespectful to the
memory of those that fought, It doesn't entitle you to
anything, especially in a computer game. This is what
happens when weekend events get taken for granted. What
you've written there is essentially the best bonus possible we
could do for players, meaning you'd later expect us to top it
with another big event. Expectations get set higher and higher and
not by us. You demand/want more and then get upset when
those expectations can't be met, when at no point we said
we would do XXXX. The more stuff that goes into an
event, the more people expect the following events to be better and
it's a never ending circle. Weekend events shouldn't be an arms
race to be the best. It shouldn't be a contest to beat the previous
event, and it certainly shouldn't be looked at something where
demands are made, or people "are off to play XXXX instead" -
If the weekend specials are all you play for, then you're never
going to be happy as they're never always going to appeal to your
individual needs.
