Draschel: Be my guest, and clear this up for me.I just took a quick look at
S1 recents. Because we would all agree that this thing is the
sniper schnitzel backline tank that farms damage dream. Out of
the past year, no owners of S1 topping the leaderboard have dropped
below 2,700 avg dmg. None of them had less than 55% WR overall,
none were less than 8k PR.Am I missing something here? Would you
like to elaborate? Causing damage at the expense of a
team, is a nonsensical myth made up by people that don't know how
to cause damage themselves. Because if they did, they'd do damage?
Another big reason as to why this commonly becomes a heated debate,
is the 1 in 20 battles, where you see a player chase damage and
leave cap, and ends up losing the game. That 1 time. And people
hold it as imbecilic contempt. And you look at the guys service
record post battle and see he's 10K PR and 60% WR and 3 marks tier
X, while you have trouble 3 marking anytankyeah.....about
that. I can look at SU130PM. Strv 103. E25. PTA. Leopard.
AMX30. AMX30 proto. Charioteer. You will find the findings all
similar. You are wrong.

platoons and sniping to win games. As one data point, check
every poster in this thread's recent stats, and you will likely
find one with high WN8, meh WR, and a survival rate that seems high
relative to their WR. Well, unless they've played enough
games since last I checked to change things.. And I'm
not referring to you because you're an alt, I looked up your stats

Draschel: Causing damage more often than not wins more than it loses.
In order to get damage, a person must place their self in position
to find the damage, while not exposing their self to damage in
return. In addition, many of the people doing this snipy stuff out
of their mediums, tend to DO THEIR OWN SPOTTING, too. If
sitting back and racking up damage was so easy, everyones S1 and
SU130PM would be 2k damage. Everyones K-91, Leopard, and Strv
would be 3k damage. This is certainly, most clearly, not the case.
While sitting in the bushes 500m away and firing your gun, is quite
easy.....effectively sniping and squeezing performance out of the
vehicle isn't. If it were the case, everyone would be doing
it. While I do agree, that spending/sharing HP and
acting as a team is useful, if such a person was hanging back in a
tank like AMX 30, PTA, Char 4 and doing 2k consistent DPG, free
damage, conserving their HP for when its needed most -
what on earth is the problem? They are dealing their HP worth,
actually moreso. Certainly more people on the team will be ailing
that said team, than they are. The so called -chai
sniper- that only wins 50% of their battles, but deals 1,800 damage
in an 3 MoE E25 is a myth. This is what bad people call good
people, because they don't understand how things work.

What kind of statement is that. CW is at disadvantage without

spud_tuber, on Jan 28 2022 - 06:42, said: First, simply running a FE completely fixes the
"crippling fire" complaint. If you're going to chose to run
something other than the FE to improve your performance in other
areas, then I've no sympathy for you burning to the ground(nor do I
complain when I do so), as that's the risk you(or I)chose to
run. Beyond that, I should point out that if you can't
engage the enemy without exposing your ammo rack or fuel tanks,
then perhaps you don't have as large of position advantage as you
think you do. If their gun has enough module damage to
pop your top in a single shot, then perhaps you don't have as large
of tank advantage as you think you do, or you've made decisions in
crew training, equipment, and/or directives that leave you
vulnerable to ammo racks in exchange for improvement
elsewhere. And if you can't kill them in a single shot,
maybe you don't have as much of a tank and/or HP advantage as
you think you do. All that said, I do agree that fires
and ammo racks probably aren't the best mechanics in the
game. At least fires do serve some purpose in actually
giving a downside to running food, fuel, small and large kit,
etc. Top popping ammo racks less so(though damaged ammo racks
serve as much as damaged turret rings or engines, etc.) It
might be better to simply make it impossible to start a reload
until the ammo rack is repaired when it is fully destroyed instead
of popping the top, but not sure that would be balanced when you
consider autoloaders. *shrug* Either way,
WG clearly wants a degree of unpredictability in the game so that
you have to play the odds instead of a lot of stuff being 100%
assured, so I don't think they've any intention of removing ammo
racks and fires. *shrug* And a reminder, I'm to some
extent playing devils advocate here, but I do think my points have
some merit. If you're getting set on fire or ammo racked often
enough in such situations it has become a problem for you, they're
all things you should add to your calculus of how to engage on your
terms.
Link on message: #12989791

Draschel: Some people do not run automatic fire extinguisherAnd an
automatic fire extinguisher doesn't remove the fuel line or engine
damage.Rations always work. That is why everyone worth their while
uses rations. Fire extinguisher only sometimes works. What is
better, all the time or sometime?Peering down on the enemy as a
full HP tank, and he isn't full HP, where you brawl better (DPM,
traverse, Etc) gives you large advantage. Say you have support, and
he's alone. Him setting you on fire or ammo rack is an extreme slap
in the life saving roll face, for no other reason than the game
saying F you. Can this be fixed? It can't. But WG can
take alot of steps to make the game fairer. First of all, tanks
with front suspension vulnerabilities, that damage engine need a
balancing factor to give them a benefit, instead of enemies just
crapping on them. Tanks like Lowe, Panzer IV Schmulturm, Chrysler,
AC4. They get a damaged engine every game, with LFP hits. They can
increase the frequency of ammo hold damage or dead driver, with
tanks not having front engine module susceptibility. The game
MASSIVELY rewards tanks having diesel engine, instead of gas. The
chance of fire on gas engine tanks, except the tier 9-10s are
atrocious. To even this out they should make gas engine have a
superior engine horsepower multiplier, and diesels do not get it.
Octane gas consumables should be 10% for the credit one, 20% for
the premium

be thinking prior to, HOW to engage the enemy. On THEIR TERMS, not

advantages are used beforehand is completely ridiculous and
adds nothing to the game. Regardless of wording, when a
defender is at severe disadvantage in terms of tank type, position,
HP, Etc - then gets royally rewarded by crippling fire/ammo
rack? This is ridiculous. And on the other side, when attacker is
robbed despite playing well, in terms of taking position for their
tank type and advantage over the enemy, with clear HP
advantage..... This is silly. Ridiculous. Your argument is

pretty minor and dependent on play-style - CAX has 1 degree more
gun depression, the M48 has 10m more view range, the CAX is 8 km/hr
faster, the M48 has a better power/weight ratio. Sure, the
M48 probably has marginally superior stats from the perspective of
a unicum player, but it's really not enough to justify dumping on
the CAX like it's a turd while simultaneously praising the M48
Link on message: #12989643

Draschel: Not a whole lot of people praise the M48A Patton as being an
effective, competitive, stellar tier ten tank. While people will
definitely admit it is pleasant to play in pub battle, its simply
not up to snuff for most forms of competition. CW, no. Ranked, no.
Sure it works in qualifier and 3rd division, but not after. But
anyway tier X works in qualifiers. M48 trades camo,
HESH, mobility, gun depression for slightly more DPM,
view range, overall armored protection....but importantly massively
better gun handling. While people may argue 0.32 centurion base
accuracy means something, Patton is more often ready to fire first
because of better aim-time and dispersion control. They are
similar and take similar battlefield roles. Simply put
in gun depression roles and wars, STB1 is superior. It is faster,
has more turret armor, more DPM, more camo. And truth be told M48A
patton and centurion are too chunky that Chieftain takes their role
anyway, with it being not a whole lot slower.

kihew, on Jan 15 2022 - 22:49, said: Dear Chieftain, while this may be akin to writing a letter to
Santa, (unlikely to be read by the recipient or result in any
positive response) how about doing a series on armored
tactics. What I see in WOT random battles (the only kind I
fight), is a lot of players failing to understand the basic rules
of war (whether fighting with tanks in cyber space or on a real
world battlefield the basics are the same). Most important
rule of war is gathering and using information. WOT has the
mini-map which is an invaluable source of information regarding
enemy positions and movements. Watching the mini map is as if
not more important to watching the main battle screen. Second
is knowing the capabilities of each vehicle on the field (yours and
the enemy's). Third is knowing the terrain. Most
random battles are predictable bar type affairs with everyone
taking the same old positions and trying to out shoot the other
guy. Try to be creative, probe for weaknesses and don't be
predictable, try for surprise. Maneuver don't camp. Try
to flank the enemy rather than going head to head. Remember
that tanks are offensive weapons. Move together as an armored
fist. Be prepared to take damage and loses to win.
Watch the flanks (use the mini map!)! I'm an average
player but I've spent decades studying military history as a hobby
(which is why I started playing). So Chieftain as you are
hands down the expert in residence, how about teaching the rest of
us on how to conduct armored warfare.

that was good enough.People seem to think Monty came out of nowhere

had no idea. I’ll often chat in game about the battle itself,
positioning, etc. I got reported for having an offensive name! And
chat banned! Too funny! Someone over there at wargaming put
those options into the data table for randomized names, and I paid
the price for it. The only reason I know I had that nickname was
because another player sent me a message after the game and let me
know. That’s the first time I’ve been chat banned since
playing this game. Kinda funny. At least they didn’t ban me from
playing.

Jaguarz: Thats just outrageous!!! Outrageous I say, I mean its not
like we have a South America populated by mainly SPANISH speakers
using the spanish word for black Oh and you cant be banned for
an anonymous generated name, let alone chat banned and there have
been actual real bad examples listed previously so you must have
been toxic in chat and are just deflecting here. Just ask support,
they will happily furnish you with the chat logs to embarrass
you. But cool story.

churchill50: I don't know about that one... The WZ-114 has better gun
depression (10 degrees vs 8), a better turret overall (although the
cupola is more prominent), better standard pen (although this is
somewhat diminished since the E75 can just go full APCR), better
prem pen at range (they start with the same prem pen, but the 114's
prem is HEAT so no pen dropoff), and more HP (2,300 vs
1,950).Meanwhile, the E75 has better DPM (Neither have great DPM,
but the E75 has about a shot more of DPM per minute), better shell
velocity, better ammo capacity, massively better gun handling (The
WZ-114's gun handling stats are actually atrocious. More comparable
to a Grille 15's gun handling), better mobility (better effective
top speed and traverse speeds), and more usable hull armor (WZ-114
can't sidescrape at all because of the shoulder
plates). Overall, just because of the gun handling, DPM, and
mobility differences alone, I'd rather the E75 any day. At least
the E75 has a reliable gun, which means that you can effectively
use all of your DPM. The WZ's combination of derpy gun + even worse
DPM is going to hurt imo.
