Ammoracks: Unfair RNG Component

View Postspud_tuber, on Jan 28 2022 - 06:42, said: First, simply running a FE completely fixes the "crippling fire" complaint.  If you're going to chose to run something other than the FE to improve your performance in other areas, then I've no sympathy for you burning to the ground(nor do I complain when I do so), as that's the risk you(or I)chose to run.   Beyond that, I should point out that if you can't engage the enemy without exposing your ammo rack or fuel tanks, then perhaps you don't have as large of position advantage as you think you do.   If their gun has enough module damage to pop your top in a single shot, then perhaps you don't have as large of tank advantage as you think you do, or you've made decisions in crew training, equipment, and/or directives that leave you vulnerable to ammo racks in exchange for improvement elsewhere.   And if you can't kill them in a single shot, maybe you don't have as much of a tank and/or HP advantage as you think you do.   All that said, I do agree that fires and ammo racks probably aren't the best mechanics in the game.  At least fires do serve some purpose in actually giving a downside to running food, fuel, small and large kit, etc.  Top popping ammo racks less so(though damaged ammo racks serve as much as damaged turret rings or engines, etc.)  It might be better to simply make it impossible to start a reload until the ammo rack is repaired when it is fully destroyed instead of popping the top, but not sure that would be balanced when you consider autoloaders.   *shrug*   Either way, WG clearly wants a degree of unpredictability in the game so that you have to play the odds instead of a lot of stuff being 100% assured, so I don't think they've any intention of removing ammo racks and fires.  *shrug*   And a reminder, I'm to some extent playing devils advocate here, but I do think my points have some merit. If you're getting set on fire or ammo racked often enough in such situations it has become a problem for you, they're all things you should add to your calculus of how to engage on your terms.

Draschel:  Some people do not run automatic fire extinguisherAnd an automatic fire extinguisher doesn't remove the fuel line or engine damage.Rations always work. That is why everyone worth their while uses rations. Fire extinguisher only sometimes works. What is better, all the time or sometime?Peering down on the enemy as a full HP tank, and he isn't full HP, where you brawl better (DPM, traverse, Etc) gives you large advantage. Say you have support, and he's alone. Him setting you on fire or ammo rack is an extreme slap in the life saving roll face, for no other reason than the game saying F you.  Can this be fixed? It can't. But WG can take alot of steps to make the game fairer. First of all, tanks with front suspension vulnerabilities, that damage engine need a balancing factor to give them a benefit, instead of enemies just crapping on them. Tanks like Lowe, Panzer IV Schmulturm, Chrysler, AC4. They get a damaged engine every game, with LFP hits. They can increase the frequency of ammo hold damage or dead driver, with tanks not having front engine module susceptibility. The game MASSIVELY rewards tanks having diesel engine, instead of gas. The chance of fire on gas engine tanks, except the tier 9-10s are atrocious. To even this out they should make gas engine have a superior engine horsepower multiplier, and diesels do not get it. Octane gas consumables should be 10% for the credit one, 20% for the premium
