pizzastorm: 1) For me it depends on how well I am liking the tank and the line. I like battling in the higher tiers so sometimes I will blow by the first few tiers in favor of quickly moving up the tech tree. This means that often times i do not get my crew to 100%. I am working towards my 7th skill in my IS-6 though  :glasses:

2) This one is situational. There are definitely times where is pays off to sit back and take shots at the enemy. Especially if you are far enough away to where they can not shoot back. Seeing as how I like to brawl though, I like to speed to a good spot where I can sidescrape and slow their offensive.

3) This one has been answered. Just note that it will take a long long time to get all the skills and perks. I have never seen it.

pizzastorm: Definitely agree with continuing to try even though your team is getting smoked. There are plenty of times where you can win a seemingly sure loss game. Atthe very least you can shoot for achievements or pad your stats if that is what you are into. Driving into to the water to avoid being destroyed by the enemy is not the way to go!

Watch the map all the time.
Any time you reload, look at the map.  Zoom out, look around you.
1.  Listen to the Voice of Reason
Just before you do something that gets you killed, there is probably a voice in your head that says things like...
"This is probably a bad idea, but..."
"That enemy may not be on his own, but..."
"Driving this far out in the open my hurt, but..."
Learn to listen to that voice.  Drop the "...but I'll do it anyway" part, and replace it with, "...so I won't do it".
2. Look for the Smartest Damage Trade
The situation where you hurt the other guy, but don't take damage yourself.  That's how the really good players (not me) always seem to be alive and healthy at the end of the battle, yet have still clocked up stacks of damage in the early- and mid-game stages.
If you pull out to hit someone and succeed, AND pull back to hard cover without TAKING damage, you win the major prize.  Repeat.  Rinse.
If you pull out to hit someone then sit there waiting to reload "for the killing shot", you're at risk.  Occasionally, it may be worth the risk, but it's handing over the "smart damage trade" opportunity to the other team, to be used against you.  In lower/mid tiers, you may get away with it... sometimes.  In high tiers, you get severely punished almost every time.

3. Check out the Camo/draw > exposure > armor > first strike > hp thing.


pizzastorm: This is all great advice. The biggest improvement to your play will come when you take the time to think about the situation you are in and make sure you are not doing something you will regret. Map awareness is one of the biggest things you can have, along with knowledge of when to "trade damage". In reality, as Officemonkey points out, you want to get away with doing damage without them being able to return it. For this, I suggest you look up some tutorials on our forums in regards to angling your armor and baiting shots.

Some of the slowest tanks can have the biggest impact on the battlefield. Especially if they make it to a choke point and there is no arty present. It seems like the sweet spot for me are the medium speed heavy tanks.

As long as you learn something each time it is still progress. Even if it is a specific location on a specific map against a specific tank. All of this experience will slowly accumulate until no tank can take you down.
