Vallter: Actually we do plan a separate duel game mode. But we will release 'King of the Hill' and 'Assault' first.

lord_farquad: Only Division 1 will have 2 battles. The first will start at the normal time, and immediately following that, the second will start (with a short break in between). For those in division 1, please take note that the map for both rounds will be El Halluf. I apologize that the maps will be the same, however I will likely be somewhere over the Antlantic at that time and thus unable to change the map.

lord_farquad: I apologize for the slow response, but it was rather difficult to find a working internet connection at PAX.
Due to a possible conflict with the server restart times we will be moving the rounds back to 12:00 UTC. Please note that the first round will now be on the 10th (as per the tournament rules), with consecutive rounds then continuing on the listed dates. The schedule and tournament page will be updated shortly. We apologize that we were unable to accommodate player feedback on the start times. I will be discussing some of these issues with the server team keeping our Ante meridiem players in mind to see what we can work out. http://forum.worldof...le_honoring.gif

Player skill-cap in WOT?

Subject: New Players\Newcomers' Forum\Player skill-cap in WOT?
Link on message: #1704939

View PostFloggle, on Apr 07 2012 - 02:28, said: Hey guys, new player here and I had a few questions regarding the skill-cap(the player's skill, not crew skills or anything) in WOT. As a newbie, the game seems a touch simple and I'm having trouble getting into it, but I know that perception could be just due to my inexperience. Maybe you guys could clarify this for me.
Does the game get more complex at higher tiers?
Could somebody who's very skilled at the game do stand-out things(such as a 3v1) based purely on the player's skill alone, and not just because they outclass(or whatever) the enemy tanks?
Perhaps there's a certain class of tank more conducive to skillful play. My guess would be the light tank or medium tank.
If you have some examples of times where you felt you outskilled your opponents I'd love to hear them.

ARGO: At best, You are at the mercy of the weakest players on your team....Winning is based primarily on how your team performs and listens and looks at the minimap and how well your plan "if you have one" unfolds. Communication is key.

Best Heavy Tank Line?

Subject: New Players\Newcomers' Forum\Best Heavy Tank Line?
Link on message: #1704901

View PostJ0hnFr33man, on Apr 07 2012 - 20:36, said: Hello again. Now I am going to finally choose a Heavy Tank Line. We can cut out the French Heavy Line from the start, as so far I am at the ARL 44 and the grind has been miserable. So out of the US, Germany, and the USSR, Who has the best tanks? I am either considering the US or USSR Heavy Tank line, as the slowness of the Maus and E-100 are not something I can deal with, and the fact that the German Heavy Tank line starts so late. I've been looking at the IS7 and T110E5, and sort of like the T110E5 better. I am clueless about the upcoming Soviet Heavies, so I didn't consider any of them. So, any tips?

ARGO: There ia no correct answer for you, each player has a different style of fighting, You need to figure out what kind of player you are and pick the tree that accomidates YOUR individual fighting style.
To help you, I will give you a brief synopsis on the trees....
German = Excellent aiming, fantastic sniper tanks excellent TDs Arty however Not so great for "in your face" fighting.
Russian = Up close and personal brawlers, Aim....not so hot. Russian tanks take a licken and keep on ticken.
USA = All around good tanks, a jack of all trades and master of none, this tree is forgiving and good for players who like a little variety.
French = Speed and very fast reload rates but your giving up armour and damage rates.
Premium "gold tanks" = Excellent for the avid grinder, you should always make some green with these puppies as well as a some much needed exp.
Now if you still are having trouble finding whats suites you, try Arty or TDs, You can't really fail with these n any tree seeing they have a good all around ability to make some coin and are a cheap repair bill.

The 122 has more up front damage but the 100 has more DPM over time. What do the vets out there feel about these two guns? As I can not predict which tanks I will face in the battle, I want to get the most bang for my buck for any match, pardon the pun.

ARGO: To put it simply, the 107 is the best gun, Always was, always will be for this tank. Never let's you down and always had descent aim and cheap ammo. Best all around gun period.

In order to make sure that this does not happen again, I will likely be scheduling all the battles for the rest of the season. That should allow players some additional time to check and make sure their battles for the rest of the season are on the schedule, and inform us if they're not. Once again, we're sorry for any trouble that was caused.

View PostEzz, on Apr 05 2012 - 02:59, said: It's a wonder so many have taken the time and effort to post in these threads given so many of the questions and discussion points go unheeded. I can't wait to see Steeltrap's response in this thread.
OP, what did happen to the last one? Was it just that it was posted by some other guy so it was removed? Did any WG rep ever read it?

Tanitha: As above, official discussion threads need to go up after the version is released.
Only then is it known exactly what was included in the update, and what was scheduled to be developed further.
No MM discussion goes unheeded. Its read by many NA management, and then transfered to the development team on a regular basis.
Jinxx, General direction and I, have a lot of meetings booked in with the development team next week. I'm sure improving the matchmaker will be bought up every opportunity we get.

View PostEzz, on Apr 05 2012 - 02:32, said: What happened to the last thread?
And the one before that?

Tanitha: All old matchmaker threads, And other version official threads are archived every new version.
The previous matchmaker thread was made before the 7.2 update was released, so contained information not relevant to the current 7.2 version.
For example it contained discussion on the 7.2 public test matchmaker which isn't in the 7.2 release version.
Even when nothing changes with the matchmaker directly, other changes do effect the matchmaker each update.
For example, the introduction of new premiums & changes to the economy and tank earnings, change what tanks people prefer to play.
All these things indirectly effect the matchmaker.
Regards
Tan.
