View PostMakoroto, on 13 August 2010 - 02:13 AM, said: Soft wipe will include refund of everything in creds and gold. Most likely as in Russian OB they will give lots of free gold so you can train your crews to 100% and have enough left for 2 months of free Premium account.
I dont see why people complain about platoon/squad system. There have to be some perks for paying costumers.
Cost of of 250Gold is 1USD, so 1 month of premium will cost you 10USD, plus the rumored extra tanks if you buy gold in bulk.
If any mods could explain why US release is 4 months away from Russian release?
Edit, i guess i know why its so late, because there is no US side in Russian release, and they want to finish US tanks before releasing it in the US.
Edit2, US tanks will be ready in September

MrVic: Couple other reasons I can think of.
1) RU has been in testing a long long time. So they release works. Before we release much more content is getting added so think thats a sweet deal.
2) RU server is set and the addition of more servers takes some time.
Yeah US tanks makes good sense also :)

View PostRaptor, on 13 August 2010 - 12:07 AM, said: Sure but that one hypothetical person has to have premium all the time for entire year to be able to create platoons. And it's still lame cause not everyone thinks that spending even low amounts of money for online game is a best idea. In fact I dare to say that majority of the player base will not buy premium because it's a free game and ppl play it because it's free2play and because of the fact that they have many reasons not to pay for anything. So majority of the players won't have that option. Forget about groups of friends playing together. Without constant flow of cash you are not gonna enjoy it. I'm so damn disappointed. If it would be something like "buy premium for once, get an option to create platoon for ever" it would be bearable, for me at least cause I can pay money through the internet. Hi kids? Wanna join platoon with your friends? Forget about it or get a credit card ya nerds! But in that case it's soo uncool and that kind of statements will pop out one after another as soon as more ppl will find out about it :/

MrVic: When I was under the age of 18 years of age. Amazingly I was able to play monthly pay to play games. (Which cost more then WoT and that was a long time ago) But there will always be those that want to only play for free and are able to do so. Making a purely free game will lead to no game at all as it will run out of funding fast. Servers and staff costs to continue to add more and more maps, tanks, events, and more cool features is not free. Servers don't run on hamster power (tho some game servers I would swear they do hehe) I am not sure on all the payment options they will have, but other games use things such as prepaid cards, or support paypal, Or most kids parents might actually see what their kids are playing :)
From what I have seen on pricing to play on premium the 12 year old 2 doors down that mows my postage stamp sized yard could afford premium every month and have enough cash left over to go to the movies (and we all know how expensive that is these days) and thats just for 1 attempt to cut my lawn. I am pretty sure if a 13 year old kid can be on a cell phone texting his friends he can find away to get pocket change required for a premium :)
Not to mention the same person does not have to have premium each day. Just one person in the group. But maybe this one hypothetical person could work something out with someone they live with.
Supporting a good game is a choice for a player.

View Postgabriel, on 12 August 2010 - 11:30 PM, said: Thanks for the post VIC. I'm looking forward to everything except the tiered battles :)

MrVic: Well tiered is almost outdated term. They have gone a step further and assessing each battle it appears and not just breaking it down to Tier 4-6 ect. So there will still be a level range but the odds of a IS-4 vs Panzer III aus A abuse abuse session should be a thing of the past. :)
To quote a semi bad movie "Soldiers deserve soldiers, Sir" The same applies for tanks vs tanks :)

merig00: Art Department is making new maps and tanks
Engine Development is battling warping, disappearing tanks, destructible objects and improving overall performance (in the next patch we'll see 10-20% improvement on some maps)
Also they are not planning on adding more texture layers because they want to keep the game relatively light (it's already over 1GB)
The rest depends on how much they will be able to improve the engine. And of course things like smoke, night maps, weather maps come before better looking explosions or additional shadows.

MrVic: There are many questions that we answer daily and many more questions people ask that have asked or wondered.
We hope that the following covers most of the day to day ones :)
Also for reference http://forum.worldof...ch-coming-soon/
Also for reference http://forum.worldof...-from-the-devs/
This information is subject to change and is as accurate as we know or can assume. (We are not Devs/Admins) Things change fast in a Beta so the rate and amount of things we see patched or added will vary at times :) We are not Devs/Admins but hopefully this will cover most peoples concerns.
Current Events
1) Tiered Battles, There is a new system coming in the next patch that reassess battles make ups and pairs tanks up more evenly and also keeps tanks of like tiers together.
2) Groups joining matches. In the coming patch you will see the ability to create small groups and enter matches together. Groups are 2-3 players and one player in the group must have premium active.
3) Module Damage. (Engine hits, crew death ect) This is a known area of concern and is being adjusted in the coming patch
4) HE ammo. HE rounds are being adjusted in the coming patch.
5) Cover/Camo System. Vanishing tanks at weird ranges. This is a known issue and has been worked on and the solution is being worked on and is coming. Some of the cover and hiding mechanics do funny things at times.
6) US tanks. We should see the first round of them in game probably a short while after the next patch.
7) Will their be a Full wipe at release? Yes at retail release we should expect a full wipe.
8) Soft Wipe There should be a soft wipe coming but not sure exactly when due to the fast pace WoT is progressing. (Typically a soft wipe is a refund of all exp earned and converted to free exp. Sometimes there is a small reduction on the overall exp it varies on the goal for testing. Also typically your full value of all Tanks/Modules/Ammo are refunded to you to reinvest with the free exp. Crews are lost. Premium accounts running sometimes can be either persevered or lost. Gold carried over? not sure usually we are warned if we are to lose it or its converted to credits and given to use in that form. These are all subject to change based on the form the wipe takes. More details will be finalized prior to a soft wipe.)
9) Armor pen vs Armor. Changes to the HE ammo and Damage models should effect this in the next patch.
10) US Server, We should see a server in the US in the not to far future. So many of those worrying over pings this will help.
11) Warping tanks at range. Known issue and its part ping and part game engine issue that is known and being worked on.
12) Bots/AFKers, There is a large known list, They are not going unnoticed. A system is in the works that will assess and deal with these players rapidly. For now we deal with them and I suspect their being used as testing guinea pigs for the new systems. In other words, the more they logon, the more we get to know what they do, what methods they use, the better we can combat them during release.
13) Tanks of the Future! Plans are in place for many more tanks from many nations British, Japanese, French... and perhaps some more
14) New maps! We will see 2 maps in the next patch. Also WoT team plans to start pumping out new maps 1-2 new maps every 1-2 weeks after the patch!
15) Clanwars! More information is coming and the expected time to see it, We are not sure, (sorry best we got) All we have on the clanwars is HERE

16) Release date! Word is they are on shedule for an October (?) release. But this is NOT a hard date (Fall 2010, more accurate). In the end it will be released when its ready. We have lots of fun toys coming to play with before then. It comes when its comes but we got a good bit of testing to do first!
17) Smoke rounds ect. Currently they are not in the works at a later date we may see them. For now we have to fight with lead and sweat not smoke and mirrors
18) Tankopedia Its in the works but a guide providing information on the tanks in the game. (always good to find the weak spots in your enemies armor)
19) More game modes! More game modes are in the works details of what all they have planned are not out yet. Clanwars and Nation based we should see in addition to others
20) Infantry and other support weapons ect. Right now they are not going to be in game. Suggestions are being considered and for future release considered.
21) If you read this far then you deserve a break, Sit back and enjoy this in game tip: Tip99 (read it now..rumor is it's going to be "fixed" in the patch)
22) Tank Skins. Currently you can play with your tank skin but it only shows up to your game. In the future there will be more tank skins added that are global to all players and we think more options for them will be coming. Details soon we bet.
We plan to add more as we answer peoples questions in game and in threads. Or when we blackmail one of our spies ;)
Enjoy the beta bigger badder and better is coming! Fear in the fashion of 9 :Smile-izmena:

MrVic: I would say using the RU side as guinea pigs to find the minor patch bugs (which always are present in any game) Then patching the EU works out pretty well for us on the EU side. They get the annoying bugs and more down time we get the better polished and more stable client for more in depth testing. Not to mention having a client update and still have another copy of the original client running under load helps in letting you look at what minor bug appeared in the patch and then comparing the issue with the code in the original. This greatly speeds up the process of fixing issues while in a beta.
Plus pretty much hands down this has been the most stable and servers up and online running beta I have ever seen. Technically WoT has more uptime then games that have been running for years though out the week lol. I think its been down maybe a couple hours in about a month? Most games have more then that weekly :) I for one still have to remind myself "This is a beta" since I am not watching the server have a heart attack everyday and waiting for the servers to come back online.
Plus the EU side is going to get some serious love soon :) "We shall get our come, upins!" I know bad pun :)

Even if the team wins you are still not a benefit. Flag capturing being the exception. You can't honestly justify joining a match for just capturing a flag.
All these reasons you shouldn't use a tier 1 tank leads to one of two conclusions. You are either stupid or a troll. In either case you deserve a ban just as much as the guy who teamkills you for being stupid or a troll.

ARGO: Take heed people, this above statement is a perfect example of someone who just don't get it and the reason that TKing started in the first place. Iidryn has forgotton where he started from and that LITTLE KIDS play this game too and may have NO idea that they they cannot help out much.
Let me re-iterate for you:
1. TEAM KILLING IS AGAINST THE RULES NO MATTER THE REASON. "Just like name calling people in the forum."
2. ANYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO JOIN A STANDARD MATCH.
3. IF YOU FEEL YOU DON"T AGREE WITH THE RULES< SEE RULE #1 AND REPEAT AS NECESSARY.

Suggestion on Radios for tanks

12.08.2010 17:45:59

Subject: Archives\Beta\Suggestions\Suggestion on Radios for tanks
Link on message: #66078

ARGO: I know this might not be a popular idea to heavy tanks but I have noticed something during battles and especially on that map with the big open field and the windmill.
I propose All heavy tank radios never to go higher than those in medium or light tanks and not because it give light tanks an advantage, it gives them a purpose. Light and medium tanks are supposed to scout and escort heavies yes? What good is it when some heavies see tanks long before the lights/mediums do? Heavies blow the daylight out of targets long before lights and mediums can do anything.
In the map I talked about earlier, A Heavies can literaly camp and pot shot the hell out of the other side before scouts can do anything making that nice big field in the middle a no mans land. Would be nice if because of lower radios in heavys player HAVE to send out the scouts. Scouts are important and can do so much more for the heavies if they have a reason.
Nothings worse than getting blown to bits by a tank you can't even see much less in one shot. A heavy has nothing to fear from a scout 90% of the time, it the arty he wrries about, but again, thats where your scouts come in.
BTW, The good news for the Heavy Tanks here is They wouldn't have to nerf the tanks if they nerfed the radios and it would be more fun to have to stumble on enemies rather than pray theres any left after the heavies leave.
Just a suggestion.

MrVic: Fires are being looked at and I think the damage module adjustments should bring them more in line.
Fires should be in game but just need some work :)
A fire in a tank was a very real danger and was quite common in WW2 tanks. Just give it some time and I think it will be brought in line :)
