dance210: Partly because of when registration closes and partly to use that email as a reminder that the tournament takes place in ~24 hr.   How much in advance would you like to see the team assignments for future tournaments?

The_Chieftain:   Probably the guy who's pushing, if there's nobody better. What's your point? You don't put yourself in the vanguard and not expect to receive damage, it's an activity which tends to attract attention. It helps to bring friends. But if I see there's a guy doing the assault, and a guy overwatching, I'm going for the guy overwatching pretty much every time.

The_Chieftain:   If he's so far back that he's not contributing to the fight, I don't care. He's not helping his team win, his survival (in the short term) is irrelevant. If he's close enough forward that he can actually help with the offense, then good for him. He should likely be helping his team overrun the enemy, in which case the E-75 (and his pals) have done their job as well.

The_Chieftain:   You need to watch one of my streams, I guess. I am far from averse to lobbing rounds where I think the enemy might be. After over 20,000 battles, one can generally spot trends to indicate 'well, there's likely someone there'.... And as I said, I love shooting at the guys cowering 'arty safe'. I have tracks on my SPG, those fellows tend to be the easiest targets when I use them. That said, I think your definition of 'assaulting' and mine are different. "Assaulting" generally implies advancing, as opposed to "attacking" or "supporting the attack" which merely requires participation in the fight from wherever he is.

Well, it is certainly true that there is no way of knowing for sure that an artillery piece is about to click "fire", but that doesn't mean that you can't reduce the overall chances by a read of the situation. Anyone who follows my streams will have observed how I will usually have made mention of a pending incoming artillery round just before it lands. On rare occasions, I'm actually self-disciplined enough to know I've been in one place for too long and move, just to see a round miss. More often than not, though, I try to get that one more shot in and die, promptly followed by "well, I saw that coming." It is my guess from observation that I am far from in a minority in this. Certainly one cannot eliminate getting hit, but as in all things, sometimes you can do everything right and still lose. 2. I have no opinion on battle assistant, but agree with you on XVM. 3.fair enough. 4. Yes, but the arty is taking a gamble in trying it in the first place. If he takes the shot and gets lucky, good for him. If he takes the shot and misses, as he is likely to do in that situation, he has just deprived his team of a likely damaging shot on a different target. It's all about how team members affect the team capabilities, not about how any individual player affects any other individual specifically. 5. I strongly disagree with that statement. If I'm targetting an assaulting tank, it's likely in desperation due to there not being much else to stop it. I have a very definite preference for aiming at stationary/predictable targets since I would much rather take the higher chance of a hit. That said, I do take a personal pleasure at hitting campers, particularly those who think they're playing "arty safe." They should be contributing to the fight, darnit! 6. Please reference my survival guide when I describe such a position. They are known as DIP Positions and should not be selected for your stand. If your team has utterly collapsed, blaming artillery is likely just grabbing at whatever blame you can lay for the fact that the enemy team was substantially better than your team. 7. It's not directly on point, but I find that sometimes just firing two quick rounds from a auto loader and moving tends to help my survival better than emptying the clip. 8. It's a force multiplier which adds an additional element of teamwork to the game.

dance210:   I will update the official standings tomorrow. That will also be when I announce the 16 teams moving on to the Playoffs :)   Gold is paid out after the Cup is over. So, Cup 5 should get paid sometime next week. Obviously, the Playoff gold will be paid once that is completed.

dance210:   There is a tie for the last spot (16th place). Since there are no tie-breakers, the system is designed to move all teams that are tied for that last spot.    If you would like, we can make it explicitly clear going forward that the top 16 teams move on, except for when teams are tied; all tied teams will move forward, as they are all considered the same rank.   We apologize for the confusion, as we thought it was clear that if teams were tied for a specific rank, that all the tied teams were considered to be at that rank and are treated the same.

He was giving the general overview of how this tournament works - which is that 16 teams move on to Thursday and Friday.
