T-34, nearly elite, 70%+ crew and in the last three battles I've
participated in the first shot from an enemy tank hits the rear end
of my hull (where the engine is) and all I hear is: "The gun has
been destroyed, We've lost a track." It's ridiculous how a shot
from the back can take out the gun three times in a row. I checked
where the shell hits every time. 1 in the lower aft section of the
hull, one scraping across the aft deck and another in the back of
the turret where the AMMO RACK is.
The mechanic is bugged and seriously needs an overhaul.

merig00:
You are confusing T-34 and T-34-85. T-34 has it's ammo in the hull and T-34-85 in the turret. So when you get hit in the back of your turret and the projectile has enough power left it will damage your gun.

I've found a third-party program called ShiftWindow that was originally written for EVE Online, but will work for WoT. However, the taskbar is still visible, as is a small border along the bottom. I might have to try adding a few vert pixels to the windowed mode resolution in the xml file to get it to work properly, although I'm concerned it might push the top of the window out of visible range. I'll update if anything concrete happens.
It would be a lot more convenient if the game client itself supported a windowed maximized mode natively, but I understand that development time is limited.
Edit: I modified the XML file to set the window height at 1200 instead of 1186, but it keeps forcing itself in-game back to 1186 pixels tall (1920x1186*, I don't know what the asterisk is for), even if the preferences file still says 1200. I tried to outsmart it by adding the 14 pixels it was subtracting from my monitor's height to the total (making the height value 1214 instead of 1200), but the game wouldn't have any of it and continues to force the window height to 1186. I've also tried changing it through the Settings menu in-game, but the same thing keeps happening. Suggestions?

The secondary qualification begins to work ( you said 'kicks in' ) as soon as the crew member gets it.
Just to be clear though, is a crew member who is on 100% in repair better than a 10%.?
Or is the 100% just a target that must be reached before the next qualification can be started?
Thanks

2 whole days now). How detailed is the damage model? I've done
guides for many games, but I have a distinct lack of knowledge
concerning the mechanics of this one. Take WWII Online for example.
I know this game very well. WWII Online is a true simulation, and
if you hit a tank in the tracks they come off. Hit a tank in the
engine and it dies. The damage models are extremely detailed. Does
anyone have a breakdown for how detailed the damage models are in
this game? Is crew modeled?
I know a tank can take damage to its tracks, engine, main gun, and crew can be hurt. But is it consistent with shot placement? I haven't played long enough for developed a reliable enough crew for testing. If the vulnerabilities of the 'in game' tanks are similar to real life and technical possibilities I can definitely get started on a guide of sorts.
Thanks.

Esad, on 13 August 2010 - 05:19 PM, said: Are there any numbers that explain what the secondary skills mean
in terms of performance? I assume the following : Firefighting;
skill reduces the length of the fire and so limits the damage.
Repair; skill decreases the repair time. Camo; skill reduces the
opponents visual distance meaning they have to be closer to see
you.
I have been told by several people that the secondary skills are active from the moment you start training them ( which is contary to the way i first read the information ) - can you confirm this please.
If the skill (at 100% for example) will reduce the time for repair/firefighting , then having 5 crew with 100% trained skill would mean less time for repair/firefighting than with 4 crew - correct?
Same thing for camo - more crew with the skill bring better results ?
A question regarding camo - does it do as i mentioned above (reduces the opponents visual distance) with the condition that you do not move/rotate turret/fire , or, do you also have to be concealed in vegetation? This is something that i can not work out as it seems not to be consistant - sorry for being a little off-topic on this question.
Aside from these questions - many thanks for the FAQ.

merig00: There are no skills yet in the game, only secondary qualifications
so they kick in from the beginning. And there are no numbers
available. But they do work.
Firefighting - reduces the time it takes to put out the fire
Repair - reduces the time it takes to repair a module
Cammo - reduces your visibility. Works even without the bushes but since they stock up it's better to be in the bushes

Aristarkh, on 13 August 2010 - 03:20 AM, said: The ability to play a game together with your friends is such a
basic and important feature that the idea of having to pay extra
for it is absurd. What's next, a 1 gold charge per line of text in
chat?
If a game is good and I have some extra cash to spend, I don't mind buying a little trinket like a premium tank or custom paint job. I've done it before in other games, and I've even donated to people who don't require any money at all for their games. If someone makes something that I enjoy, I feel that they should be rewarded. In case I didn't make it clear enough, I spend money on free games.
However, if you start doing unseemly things like removing fundamental features so that important parts of the game are unusable unless I pay, or making premium tanks more powerful than regular tanks so I have to buy them to stay competitive, or anything else that makes me feel pressured into buying something from you, then you won't get anything out of me. I simply don't reward pushy salespeople. Especially not ones who promised that the rewards of paying "will neither affect the gameplay nor give players decisive advantage in battles."
The ability to play a game with one's friends is as fundamental a requirement as the ability to have fun playing it. It needs to be something that even the newest of newbies can do. The only reason the lack of a "play with friends" option has been acceptable thus far is because we know the game is unfinished and we expect you to make everything work before release. It has nothing to do with what people can afford, or whether they have access to a credit card, or what their personal economic mentality is. This is about whether you respect your customers enough not to intentionally break your game just so you can charge them to fix it.
That said, if you really want to screw up random battles by letting people buy teamwork, at least give us a non-random battle mode we can play instead.

MrVic: Keep in mind this is the first test on the grouping how it ends up
working and in what battle modes we are not sure. I have not tested
this, but by the time were at release things may change or it may
make more sense later on. Doing what most are doing now counting
down and joining at once works for free
