Hello richie57,
When I first started playing I was frustrated because I was able to see terrain, structures, and such but for some reason a tank parked in front of it was invisible. It took learning the game to understand how the spotting system works. That the ability to see an enemy tank is determined by position, team position, crew skills, perks, equipment, and cover. World of Tanks is a game with an incredible amount of depth. I am fortunate to interact with some of the best players in the game on a daily basis and despite my stats I am learning a lot. The good news is we are working to implement a mentoring program where players from different skill levels can be paired with the right mentor and learn how to get to that next plateau of ability and understanding. Keep an eye out for the announcement!
Hang in there, don't feed the trolls.

Mugsy_: Hey everyone,
Firstly, thanks for creating a thread on our Gameplay Discussion.
Tier 1 winter camo is currently useful for Tank Companies and Tournaments which have point based team building systems where sometimes a left over point will be used just to place an extra set of eyes on the team. Also, while there are no snowy maps on the Tier 1 rotation that may change in the future.
Also, the camo is an application that you apply to your tank, rather than an unlockable item that is kept for reuse.
I hope that clears up things a bit.

So Europe gets 8.1 on the 31st...Russia has had the thing for damned near a week...just when will we get it? Next week?
You guys have been doing well with releasing stuff but you have to get the simultaneous thing down...otherwise it just pisses people off and causes angst all around.

GeneralDirection: This was explained here. Logistically speaking, it is not
possible to deploy the update simultaneously across all clusters.

There were some flaws with the tutorial missions that we're aiming to fix before reintroducing them. New player tutorials will come back, but we want to address the core issues before that happens.

However, because of this unusual circumstance I will state that a
number of the offers in the event will be part of other events in
the month of November--some as early as the following weekend.
Sadly the tier IX discount cannot be included elsewhere, but the
majority of other things will be.
We are discussing extending the promo code redemption period. I'll make sure to update once we've confirmed that it will be possible.

stats:
RU update on xx/xx/2012
EU update on xx/xx/2012 (usually a day or two later)
NA update on xx/xx/2012 (usually a day or two after EU).
Nice try though. I especially like how now you expect us to watch the RU portal to see what is going on there, to then "guess" when EU will be updated, only to watch the EU portal to "guess" what will happen on the NA server.
It'd honestly be ok to say "Sorry, somebody dropped the ball. We'll have an update posted later today". You know, so that those that don't read the forum aren't "expected" to guess what is going on base on what is going on on other servers.

GeneralDirection: I'm responsible for making sure my team publishes that content, so
I have a fairly firm grasp of the schedule we follow. We do not
announce an update's release until the day before except for very
special circumstances. There have been very few updates that we've
been comfortable enough to announce the release date of in advance.

You expect us to believe you are flying staff all over the planet for an update? Really?
I would believe that you are doing the semi-smart thing of updating 1 cluster at a time to test for stability. That's smart, what isn't smart is that you update the highest loaded clusters and work your way down to the lowest. The smart way would be to start with the lightest, and work your way up to the highest, thereby minimizing the chance of adversing the most people if there are issues.

GeneralDirection: We have a deployment team that is responsible for deploying
patches, and those people are responsible for doing it for every
region the game is played in. As of right now, that is:
- RU
- EU
- NA
- SEA
- CN (China)
- VN (Vietnam)
Fortunately the internet prevents them from having to fly around to each cluster location, otherwise they would have more frequent flyer miles than most public officials during an election time. But it's still one team of people.

GeneralDirection: Unfortunately we don't have unlimited staff to throw at updating
the clusters, testing for stability, etc. So we have to stagger the
releases; it's a resource issue more than anything else.
