Mugsy_: I sincerely apologize if you misread the inflection in my words. I was speaking more towards the level of competition on the map, not of any clan or individual's abilities.
If you want to land on the map you need to win a landing zone, right? That mean 15 good tankers. Then to hold land and move inland you will probably need 30 good tankers.
My actions in this community have always been to support and encourage new and developing clans. I have taken actions considered extreme by some to protect the majority of the community from the elitist abuse of the few.
That being said, those established, elder clans are some of the most skilled players in the game and if you want to share their feed trough you better bring your A-game. That's not rudeness, it is objective fact.

Mugsy_: Hello,
I am not sure how I can help here.
To me, the most amazing thing about clan wars is how deep the diplomacy and "meta" game mechanics actually go. It is about a whole lot more than fielding one or two teams of 15. That being said, don't expect to get anywhere if you can't field two teams of seriously skilled tankers. I know it can be frustrating to want a seat at the table and to not know how to get one.
I suppose if I had a clan that was looking to enter clan wars I'd try to find other clans of similar social status and try to network with them. If my guys were very skilled I'd try to earn some status with some respectable performances in tournaments.
I understand why landless clans would struggle to find their place in the Clan Rivalry and Diplomacy section, it is like asking for a seat at the UN without actually having a nation. You need to amount your own value before the existing oligarchy will recognize you.

I have asked in threads a few times which haven't been responded to and put out PMs that don't get read... can I get a definitive yes or no. Are clan players going to be compensated for time as well as gold (real money) spent on trying to keep up with the NA event that never actually happened as it was advertised?
I can try and paste the PM I originally sent that has yet to be read or answered if you like and PM you with it.
Sorry OP for rocking your thread here, but I've been trying to get a staff member to respond to me for awhile now.

Mugsy_: Hey Paladin,
I believe it is very much on a case by case basis. So shoot me a PM and detail how the series of problems has affected your clans and its participation in the event. But to my knowledge, there is no blanket compensation policy in place, though everyone who holds a province at the end of this event will make a substantial chunk of gold.

Mugsy_: I understand that the implementation of your suggestions can take longer than is emotionally rewarding but those features are in development and slotted for release. 6 months isn't that long in terms of game development. I know that isn't what you want to hear, but it is true. I hope when those features are implemented your faith is renewed.
The Clan Wars debacle is inexcusable, I won't disagree with you for a second there. All I can do is ensure that we learn everything we can from each mistake and problem we encounter in order to perform better in the future.

dance210: For abuse of physics (being intentionally shoved) you need to submit a Support Ticket with the replay attached. If you do that, then yes, Wargaming will take care of it and punish the offender, even if you don't know about it.

Mugsy_: Hey RustyBucket,
Thank you very genuinely for your kind words. It means a lot. I hope to be able to deliver on more, be more able to discuss issues with the community, and make more progress on improving the quality of life in our forums and the quality of our game. We are bringing some additional staff on board soon, so you will see more posts from WG folks both sharing with and receiving information from everyone here. We know our players are our experts and we really do hear everyone's ideas, frustrations, suggestions, feedback and wishes. The struggle is just to make it happen.
Thanks again, myself and the rest of the Wargaming team are excited about the coming year.

Mugsy_: I'm not the best person to address these concerns, but I don't think your giving World of Tanks credit for the complexity of the calculations, model changes, and other details that typical MMO Fantasy MMOs just don't have to deal with.
You are really comparing apples to oranges here.
Regardless, I understand your request which is larger maps with more tanks per team. This is something we know is desired and we are working towards it.

Mugsy_: Hello everyone,
First I want to thank you for your kind words and support. It is far less common to hear people voice the things they enjoy.
I also understand that there are things which need to improve and large opportunities for us to grow. Many of the amazing suggestions the community has been making for a long time will see fruition this year.
That being said, please continue to voice your frustrations as well, continue to share your input and suggestions. Be constructive and help us deliver the best gaming experience and community we possibly can.

Videos like this (as I mentioned before) are a great way for new and inexperienced players to learn and understand some things about their tanks. This video is relatively short and covers the basics, leaving the nuances and specifics to be learned through experience or in-depth forum guides. (I think that's a good thing) Player education can only serve to make the quality of the gameplay better, and I believe I've heard several developers express their dissatisfaction with the quality of gameplay in random battles.

However, I have my doubts about how many people who need to see this will take advantage of it, especially long after it's been published and it's not in the top 5-10 recent news listings. Many players just run the game (quickly clicking past the launcher screen) and don't spend time exploring the website.

So that leads to IDEA #1:
Include some feature in-game that would display this video. For example, if a player selects the King Tiger in the tech tree, garage, or store, there could be a fairly visible button to "view video guide" that would either act as a link to the web page with the video, or more preferably it would stream and show the video in the game window itself. In addition, there could be a "video guide" subsection of the garage menu that would display all available videos. Over time, these guides would accumulate and begin to be a great, easily accessible resource.

Sub-idea 1.1:

Now, I understand that making these videos accessible in-game would potentially create pressure to have guides available for many more tanks sooner than if it's just a web series highlighting a popular tank every so often. So if that pressure exists, maybe WG could sponsor contests for players to create the best guide videos to a tank. I think this has been done in the past, and with a little more structure it might be effective.

IDEA #2:
Create a similar guide series to the maps (which would also available in-game), as these are often nearly as important for tactical education as the tanks themselves. The videos don't have to be long or complex, just a showcase of some of the important features of the map and their tactical importance (see below). This would have to be a subsection of the garage menu in order to display a list of maps, video links, and perhaps large minimap displays.

Example for Idea 2: Abbey.

Disclaimer, this is mostly off the top of my head, but gives the idea:

Panning shots as the major features are listed: the abbey itself, village beneath, mountainous paths in the west, ravine trail in the east, base defensive areas, and scout run below the abbey on the east side. Then go into detail on each feature while showcasing battles in those areas. Short example: "The abbey commands the center of the map. Fast tanks can quickly take this position at the start of the match and will be able to light up and shoot at enemies in the base areas while using the abbey for cover. However, if the enemy team controls the abbey and the village beneath, your team can use the mountain trails to get around them or to shoot at them from afar. The mountain trails provide flanking opportunities for mobile tanks and teamwork is often necessary to conquer this area of the map. Across the map, the eastern ravine is cut off from the rest of the map and there are only two ways in and out. Tanks that go down this road cannot get support if they run into enemy forces stronger than themselves, and tanks climbing the hills into either base from this road are vulnerable, but it does provide a fairly direct route to the enemy base. There are rocks and burnt out tanks that can be used as cover from tank fire, but you may be vulnerable to artillery fire on this road. Both bases can be defended frontally by using buildings and rock formations as cover, but they can be flanked from either side. There is a narrow road that runs below the abbey that may be useful for scouts to find enemy artillery or light up base defenders later in the match."

Etc.

Basically, it should highlight that different parts of the map have different tactical importance and are generally suited for different kinds of tanks or strategies. Depending on the map, it should briefly describe some of the more important areas to control (eg. hill on Mines) but also what to do if the enemy controls those areas.

Suggestions definitely noted. Very solid ideas.
