The_Chieftain: Two particularly tough tests are Ireland and Finland. Finland
requires some time on the skid pan, which makes sense given their
weather. Ireland is notorious for having something akin to an
80% first time failure rate. The trick with the Irish one is
that it tests your abilities to drive in the real world. The
theory is that any idiot can follow road signs and road rules when
the examiner is next to them, and that nobody ever drives like the
examiner is next to them when there is no such examiner. Thus, what
the examiner is looking for is your judgement in how you drive.
Case in point, brother of my ex came home after failing his
test. Ex's dad was a cop. Sure enough, he had failed.
When asked what happened, he said he was failed to keeping to
a 30mph posted speed limit on a very good dual carriage way where
the typical person drives at about 45-50. The correct judgement
would have been to drive at 45-50, as the road and weather were
both good, and he would be keeping up with the flow of traffic. Dad
was not sympathetic: "You must make progress, and traveling slower
than the normal flow of traffic makes you an obstacle and a
hazard." Thus, there is no substitute for experience.
California test was almost an embarrassment. Took the
written since I was already in the DMV, never really drove in the
US before that. Took the test in an Automatic. Hill
starts, three point turns, not tested. How can you fail it?

I don't normally post like this, in order to appear selfish minded to my own issues in regards to technical issues like this. But, this is ridiculous. You have some serious technical issues with 9.17 that need addressing that are affecting us a lot. Get some all hands on deck with this issues quickly.
My tickets have been well documented with Screen shots, replays, the proper questions, have been filled out, and data requested has been submitted. It's costing me premium time, and a lot of other time and money here. Get some staff back in the office or something? Get that crew out of Russia, or where ever they are partying at over there? Who's minding the store here on the NA ??
Give us the number for the RU office maybe they can take care of our problems then?

dance210: Hello Insurrectional_Leftist, As others have
mentioned, the NA office had a skeleton staff during the Christmas
and New Years vacation. This has lead to a backlog of tickets and a
long queue. Staff have returned from the holiday break starting
today, and are working diligently on the tickets that are in queue.

The_Chieftain: Just back from the panto with my daughter. (Robin Hood, at the
Gaiety). I'm rather disappointed the tradition never took hold in
the US, once my 7-year old got the concept she enjoyed the hell out
of herself. Heck, I enjoyed it, it included a lot of references
that you need to have several decades behind you to understand.
Apparently there was an amateur production of Cinderella in San
Francisco last year, they might be back next year. If not, it may
be worth a weekend trip to Canada for a full-scale production,

Mittegard is a small map, suitable for these type of tournys, but
are there others? I think a lot of regular players now know where
to go, etc, which makes it interesting if the venue was different
for a change. Ensk is a pretty small map. Mines too.

seemed to be bad - with only 5 min battles, the cap time for
encounter maps didn't work out. I could increase the battle time to
compensate for that; however the tournament would then run
longer. I think the general consensus was that Attack/Defense
didn't work very well either. Right now, I use Mittengard
and Widepark, both of which seem to be working out well (I haven't
heard any complaints, so if there are any, please post them!). I
may start testing out other small maps in Standard to see if they
work, based on player feedback.

IV - VIII) for the tournaments. I am more likely to run a tier IX
or X tournament for the 5v5 tournaments. If people are
interested, I can run some higher tier for the 3v3, to see how well

Please
take good care of your pets. Many pets don't like fireworks, it can
terrify them, panic them. Please make sure they have a safe, quiet
spot to retreat to. My own cat is enjoying a simple cardboard box
that I laid down on its side and placed a thick blanket on to
dampen the sound. Finally I threw some kitty treats in to make sure
she's comfortable.

The_Chieftain: First Class? Doing well. United is moving to Business-only, though
at least the new business seats are very similar to the current
first class ones. What gets me is the different
standard of service of lounges around the world, and they're not
better in the US. Go to United's lounge in LHR, full food, free
beer... Hey, they're competing with Lufthansa and B.A. Go to
United's lounge in JFK, and you're lucky to get little cheese
blocks and crackers. Seriously? That said, the
frequent-flyer perks are reasonable. I'm subjecting myself to a bit
of culture shock given I've a couple of tickets booked on Virgin
Australia and Kiwi Air next year. 7kg hand luggage restriction? One
checked bag? You're kidding.... I never use my full United baggage
allowance of 3x 70lb bags plus carry-on, and I haven't flown less
than premium economy in years. If I'm still at this in two years'
time, United should be at least at European levels, even if still
behind Mid-East/Asia. Much though I have sympathy for Wulfe,
what does or does not happen to the folks who have taken a dislike
to him are irrelevant to his own actions in response. Not breaking
our rules, not personally going after folks, is not all that hard
to do, and it's why I don't think I can do much for him. His
opposition didn't write the posts under his name that our
moderators found broke the rules. Even if we were to go back and
decide that the guys he responded to broke the rules, the result is
that both will be sanctioned, Wulfe's situation would not be
changed. The only hope I can see for him is if it turns out after
investigation that the account was actually bought, and that that
buy's him a 'buy' on the warning. That also is not anything I have
influence over, except making sure that the investigation happens.

has always been one of the fastest, most pleasant experiences of
any airport around. The only complaint I have is that they make me
take my iPad and laptop out of my bag, I don't have to do that in
the US (because I'm in the pre-check program). Last time I
was in London central, shooting HMS Belfast, I took the Heathrow
Express train. Quite honestly, within 40 minutes of the 'plane
parking at the gate, I was in Paddington station, looking for the
statue of the bear before transferring to the tube. And a full
third of that was spent on the nearly a mile walk from the gate to
passport control. I haven't tried changing terminals since T2
opened, so I can't really make an opinion on that one, but, really,
LHR has been, so far, nothing but good to me over the last five

when it was known as Deathrow, due to all the standing in line for
hours. (Greetings from Heathrow terminal 2, by the way, waiting on
my connector). Used to be I would try to avoid it like the plague,
now I'm quite happy to fly to/through it. It's a very long walk to
the American gates, but that is the worst I can say.
JFK, on the other hand, I have never liked. However, the only
other options are Laguardia and Newark, neither of which are
exactly well regarded either. So, JFK it is, unfortunately.
