Tanitha: ; ) Getting ahead is a big part imo, That takes some grinding.. But
then when you are settled its just a matter of playing some
clanwars game and relaxing and reaping the rewards from the work.
Once you have a T10, or T8 arty etc,, there's no importance to
grind a lot quickly any more.

Archives\Beta\Is WoT really an mmo?
Link on message: #286503
mich, on 11 December 2010 - 02:47 AM, said: 15vs15 IS NOT MASSIVE

Link on message: #286503

Tanitha: Correct, but 500k+ people, On servers capable of handling 60k
players online at once on each server (180k online at once max)
(next patch), all playing the same world domination map in clan
wars (January for testing of separate servers, after that for the
probable joining of servers.). Is massive and is a MMO.
WoT is a MMO under construction. Discussing whether its a mmo when its 1/2 done and the clan system inst yet installed, Is a bit pointless imo.
All mmorpgs are called mmorpg's before they even have any game code written, Because that's what it will be on release many many years later.

Quote Mediums And Why Do They Exist Above Tier 5?
Tanitha: Because they used to be good and valuable. Now however, not so
much.. So they need to be made made more viable.
Soon they are tweaking the matchmaking to increase the weight of heavies. And they have stated they need to conciser buff's for lights & mediums, to make them more viable.
It doesn't really need a 4 page discussion, it really just needs some patience. You know as well as I do that T44's aren't as good now that warping's fixed. The thread could have continued anyway.,.. But now its just full of insults and barely on topic. So it needs closing.

just the fact that he was even able to penetrate my armor and do
100-250 dmg with each hit is absurd. The Russians sacrificed armor
for firepower, in real life the ML-20 could destroy every German

So ISU-152 is underpowered?
Now seriously, Pz 4 is able to penetrate 90/75/60mm armor with any of his guns. And if it was 10,5cm KwK42 L/28, no wonder it did much damage.

MrVic: Answers were provided in the thread and else where, also its not
something their capable of doing at this time. Its well known and
seen, but focusing on the future and the very active discussion on
the patch, along with the rapid additions. Its not a case of being
avoided, its delayed since clan wars testing was not ready and
active championships along with more reasons that were listed. Your
free to discuss that all you like, I chose to stay with what I know
is in the works, sorry if you think that I avoided it.
I spent most of my credits messing around with modules ect, such is life. I also posted the time frame for the softwipe with 2 disclaimers and it was also posted with a disclaimer by the devs, Nothing is set in stone until were upon it. We'll get one in time and now I'm working on setting it up some I can test the few tanks i have not played yet when it comes

mallorygal, on 11 December 2010 - 06:16 PM, said: You mentioned it in the newsletter, so I'll mention it again. The
server split is a deal breaker for me. Especially if there are
going to be two different clients, one for EU and one for US. First
of all, choosing between which group of friends I want to play with
is not only difficult, but puts me, the player, in the position of
telling some of my friends I chose not to play with them any more.
Your solution, to create a second account, is asinine at best
because for one, I lose all of the experience I've earned since
joining the beta and really dislike the thought of starting over
again before I'm forced to. Secondly, once this thing goes live and
real money starts changing hands, I'm rather insulted that you
would expect me to pay you twice.
I realize that it's far too late for you to change your plans now, so I'll just close my rather angry rant by saying that once the server change happens, I will simply uninstall WoT for good. I won't let you put me in the position of choosing between friends, so I simply won't play at all.

MrVic: You've stated this a few times, regardless its nothing something
thats capable at this time, long term maybe. Its much like just
like most games you can choose a sever and play, but unlike some
games you can play on all the servers regardless of location. A
number of companies even limit that ability, WoT will not. With a
hard wipe at release (since we are testing) you'll probably have
more troubles. Personally I have tested through 3 full wipes and
exp'd my way back up each time. I have enjoyed it try new tanks see
how things changed ect.

Small wish for the next newsletter:
I'm sure everyone is dying to know what is going to happen with regard to the current "game breakers" - spotting issues, balance and module damage. Mostly the spotting issue, as I believe most people agree that this is the top concern.
I understand that a change log can't be given at this point, but it would be nice to hear some thoughts about what kind of changes are being considered currently to alleviate these issues. Even if it's just more a food for thought kind of thing.
There's some dev thoughts scattered out in those mammoth threads, but it would be nice if someone could wrap them up and perhaps add a few lines to that.
That's what I'd absolutely love to see in the upcoming newsletters. TY so far, its been good.

MrVic: Well the one thing I can say on that is, Server upgrades should
help spotting some, also have some help in the patch but not
perfect. Devs want a better solution and are working on one still.
Modules in internal testing so far seem to be working really nice.
They seem to be lessened, its hard to see that from the notes but
all of the notes combined it makes sense
Also some revisions to balance
coming too
were heading in the right direction
thats always a good thing.
Yeah I try to dig up a lot of that info but this week was rough for me and was unable to be as thorough as I wanted to be.

Russian server. No EU server and NO USA server.. IE Russian infinitely ahead.
The couple of months prior to now..
Russian server a patch or two ahead.
Now.
Both are on the same version.
Id expect patches to come out at similar times now. Maybe a small delay for translation. But I'm not in the dev scene so i'm not sure exactly how they work that.

Change the system in a way so that only the enemy shot can reset the timer and not the ally's.
That would prevent this idiocy and the team damage mechanic still remains intact.
I'm sorry if this exact suggestion has already been given.

AFAIK, the xp indicator in the statistics screen only shows the xp that you've earned after the previous wipe.
Tanitha: To answer both in once...
IMO and AFAIK...... softwipes work like this.
Everything you have is replaced with EXP and Credits. So... you can buy what you have back...
So...
1. No. If you earned 1 million $$'s in real life and spend it all on booze and drunk it. Then you own nothing.
If you earned 1 million $$'s in real life and bought a house worth 1 million.. Then a softwipe would convert your assess to credits, so you can buy what you used to own back again.
Similar with wot..
If you earn 1 million credits, and spend 500k on ammo and repairs, and 500k on tanks, then when its wiped your assets are wiped and you are refunded their worth so you can buy them back again. IE you are refunded the 500k credits the tanks you own are worth , so you can buy them back again.
2. Pretty much, if after the softwipe you had 500k free exp, and then you played and earned 500k exp. That 1 mil exp was spend on unlocking tank upgrades.
When these 1 mil exp's worth of tank upgrades are wiped the exp for them is refunded. So technically yes. the exp you earned before the last softwipe is also refunded, because you spend that exp unlocking tanks on this account, so its refunded on this account. So yes you can tech back up to where you are now..
I think the only things lost on a softwipe are..
Gold spend and "used" on premium.
Gold and credits spent and "used" on crews.
Gold and credits spent and "used" on ammo and repairs.
The things that are gained on a softwipe are
Few extra exp and credits leftover, because when you tech back up, you dont have to unlock tracks and engine and modules you dont need to level up, you can just buy the ones you HAVE to to level up.
After a softwipe you are about what you are now, You usually end up a bit of exp and credits better off after you replace your tanks. But you lose the crews.
All in all not much difference. Consider it like a retech you get in other games.

IMO and AFAIK...... softwipes work like this.
Everything you have is replaced with EXP and Credits. So... you can buy what you have back...
So...
1. No. If you earned 1 million $$'s in real life and spend it all on booze and drunk it. Then you own nothing.

Tanitha: Upgrading servers to handle 60k players each, is a good start. Less
lag, the ability to increase server checks/updates that would
otherwise overload the servers.
That will increase the capacity of the servers from about 10k, to 120k.
It will help a bit.

Tanitha: Yep I play a T2 often, there is very little camping, and very
little arty.
T3+ games are a bit different though because there's usually arty's and more TD's in those games.
I wonder though, how many newbies are playing T1-2's : ) With so many vets playing those smaller tanks for a bit of fun.

I spent 200 gold to train my gunner to 100% and started doing the camo secondary skill. I logged in today and he is now at 92% with 53% in the camo skill. Why did I lose 8% in training?? Was it because he died in battle? Or am I bugged?
Thanks in advance.

Tanitha: IF there was a softwipe, selling your tanks like you said you did,
is the worst thing you can do anyway....
If you have 2 mil credits worth of tanks, they are replaced with 2 mil credits on a softwipe.
If you sell 2 mil credits worth of tanks you get 1 mil, and then buy 1 mil of tanks.
So on softwipe those 1 mil credits worth of tanks are replaced with 1 mil credits..
Anyway selling tanks before a softwipe 1/2's your cash..
