Try doing what he is doing with say, a Tiger, M6 or Jadpanzer IV or a 76mm armed Sherman. Gold AP won't boost you the same way the HEAT rounds do, not even close. That's the point of this whole thread.
HEAT is completely laughably broken. Make its pen 100mm and it'll be fine on the 105s etc.

GeneralDirection: The M6 is pretty amazing with premium shells, but other than that
you're probably right... a tank with AP premium probably won't do
as much damage in an average battle as one using HEAT... out of the
tanks you listed.
The one thing we're kind of surprised with here is that the hate is on the M4 and Pz4 (the Pz4 is doing pretty bad data-wise), while the KV-1 is performing incredibly since 8.1. I haven't really seen much of anything on that.

Yes, you can ruin your progression by paying tons of credits to run the thing, but who cares. You balance around progression now?
The only thing stopping this from being a problem is that a large number of people actually have some ethics and refuse to abuse it.
2,600 DPM out of a tier 5 med is clearly okay.

Support Ticket, and the griefers (pushers) will be punished. IIRC,
reporting them in-game will also flag them for WG staff to review

Second, its not as if playing the M4 denies progression...people simply earn credits on other tanks, such as their t8 prem.
Third, people have been abusing noobs in their hotchkiss for 2 years. What in the world makes you think people will get tired of being OP?

GeneralDirection: I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying here Garbad, though
you just alluded to the M4 HEAT use not being as rampant as the
clamoring suggests.
When it comes to data, M4 HEAT is not causing such a shift to raise concern. It's not dramatically impacting the amount of battles the M4 sees in a month. Nor is it dramatically impacting its win rate and credits gained.
So therein lies the conundrum we face: the data says there isn't a problem. The forums do. Now it's up to us to determine, based on the two available information sources, whether or not there is really a problem.

GeneralDirection: Well, what I'm most concerned with is if people actually feel it's
worthwhile. Even if you're scraping by with a profit, is it
worthwhile? Are you actually having so much fun with it that you're
not interested in playing any of the other tanks in the game? Are
you happy enough to forego playing a tank that might actually allow
you to earn the credits to purchase a tier 7 within a year's
time?
We have the data, but balancing strictly on data is the death of a game. You also have to weigh the fun factor in that, and the only way to do that is to actually analyze player feedback to see if you're actually having fun. You might be playing the tank--data will show that, as will it show you're either earning or not earning credits--but is the fun sustainable or is it just a quick fix that you'll burn out on?
