Myths of American Armor

The claim was that all US armored forces in WWII were designated as training units because Congress had forbidden active-duty tank units from being used as anything but infantry support. Is there any truth behind this whatsoever?

The_Chieftain:   Not quite. The Tank Corps was abolished, and tanks became the responsibility of Infantry Branch. Cavalry had to use "Combat cars", which were tanks under a different name.
