Fair Play Policy: The Battle Continues

View PostDampiar, on 07 January 2017 - 01:03 PM, said:   Hold up here, 'fairly skilled' is a stretch.I'm gonna use this scenario because it happens a lot.   Tier X battle If one goes in arty, enemy team of green and below on their side with maybe 1 blue and 1 purple the first thing I say to myself is ok, this one will probably make 3k+ and the blue might make something like that or better or worse but there's target 1 and 2 if it presents itself. All of a sudden I now know exactly without going on any outside website which would consume a lot of time (see where I'm going with this? the ingame armor viewer being banned now because it gives an INGAME advantage?) I can instantly begin my focus. Now I know the two guys to focus IF the situation presents itself, I don't have to hit them either.. yea that's it I just try to hit him once or twice to affect his/her mindset.. he/she will then think they're being focused and it will set a seed in their mind. This sounds like it doesn't happen a lot but I can say for sure as a blue overall in WoT I'm not getting focused as much as a purple BUT if I have no other blue on the team and the arty on enemy team has XVM ofc I'm going to get this scenario happen above ^    I watch a lot of twitch, I've seen unicum after unicum say that they actually had to install XVM or are considering it because they need to know which arty are going to be focusing.. it works also, it really does work. I've done it myself at the cost of damage I've set out to make an experiment where I just focus the top 1-3 guys that would normally carry a team with damage and it increases your WR. Without a shadow of a doubt XVM provides an ingame advantage that otherwise would not exist and you know it's a disgrace that WG pick and choose like this.    I've seen some ridiculous things on twitch over 2016 (I really only started being heavy on twitch since then) and some of which can only ever be described as XVM focus, the things people will do to knock a unicum out of battle. It works also sometimes, like john in his IS-7 with average damage of 500 will charge at 3k wn8 with 1.8k+ in his 13 90 just to knock him out so he cannot carry the battle.    To suggest there is any skill in using XVM to focus people is just insane.    The question you must ask is this: IF people didn't know who was purple and who was red, would the outcome of battles be EXACTLY the same? ofc not. WG should disable XVM and monitor the ingame WR of the top 1% in battles for 1 month, you'd find your answer right there.

By the way, solve the XVM issue by introducing performance reward pennants on the tanks. If you can see the pennants, XVM is not so important anymore. On the other hand, XVM should be made available to everyone, as an integral part of the game itself. Consider it your intelligence service work..:)   Best regards.

I haven't used xvm in years I play totally vanilla but even now I know our teams decent player when I see him followed around the map by a creeping nuclear artillery barrage. Also it is disheartening at the start of the game to see someone shout out "lol 22% win chance" then watch our scout jump in the river and suicide and the rest of the team give up before it has started.   TLDR... ban xvm, introduce Capture but allow a scan-able folder so you grown men can dress your tankers like Japanese school girls and paint your tanks pink:teethhappy: Kudos to WG for finally banning the cheats....some of their comments are totally hilarious...enjoy your bans you sad losers.

Cynd3r:   Yeah, I can see your points. I can certainly make this point of view known. Right now I know that the mod bans are targeting the "worst of the worst" mods so to speak--ones that absolutely cannot be defended rationally (and yet look at some of the reactions of people upset at the decision lol). In the future though, perhaps the definition of what is considered an "unfair mod" will be widened. Either way, I'll add it to the feedback reports.
