Laera: Change takes time, and this is first step in a turn in the right direction.

Laera: You totally could and that would be fine. Our hope is you come back from vacation learning from your actions.

I've been playing since 2011, and I received more Warning points in the past 2 weeks than in the overall of the 2 years... just seemed a little ridiculous at that point.

Laera: Golden Joystick thread moderation was really bad and we apologize for that. Thankfully all of your points have been cleared.

For example, say someone makes a troll post, is it against the rules to call them a "moron"?

Laera: Please try to treat each other with respect and don't feed the trolls. If someone is being rude, feel free to call them out on it but don't sink to their level. If someone makes a troll post, report it and do your best to ignore it.

View Postslayn87, on Sep 20 2013 - 02:59, said: Why do you avoid serious questions pertaining to the giftshop?
Why do you only answer questions that aren't critical of the way things are being ran on the NA server?
Why instead of answering our questions with serious answers do you refer us to outdated sticky posts that have no explanation other than "because we said so"?
Why hasn't the NA server gotten a sale on the E-25 yet when all of the other servers have?
Why can the RU server buy our beta tanks but we can't buy theirs?
Why does Content_WG have like -1,500 rep from people dissatisfied with the giftshop yet the issue is never addressed and all we get are stale answers that offer no explanation?
Why instead of taking all the negative feedback you've been getting and trying to improve on the things people aren't happy with do you just make new forum rules to avoid the situation altogether?

Laera: These are all valid questions, but I'm only addressing those in relation to moderation right now.

What exactly set off all the talk for revamping moderating policy? The Golden Joystick thread or was it something before that?

Since we are talking about mods. WellingtonBoot is awesome! So are you Laera!

Laera: This is something I've been working on for awhile but the Golden Joystick issue really kicked it in to high gear.

Laera: We recently cleaned the CC group of players who were no longer active or constructive on the forums. Current CCs will remain and I'll be syncing up with you soon about awesome things to come.

Laera: We don't have any plans to reset forum rep at this time.

From the forum user perspective, posts were vanishing, no red text.  They were invisible to forum users and the forum posts were being renumbered as if they never existed.  I never imagined they were gone from the database, but that doesn't really matter with regard to the problems (confusion, further warnings for expression of the confusion) that was created.
I THINK you're telling me this should not occur in future; that if a post content is "unapproved" we'll still see that post number containing some red text only.  Can you confirm?
I have to ask because it's possible you're saying there's to be red text in an "unapproved" post entry in the database that nobody can see; that would be silly and does not help if so.

Laera: Posts should not disappear in the future unless they're really awful (example - violent threats towards fellow players or mods). The issue was that heated threads such as The Golden Joystick had so many blatant violations and were escalating so quickly that posts were being unapproved for mods to keep up with the influx of reports. That was poor practice and should not occur in the future.
To answer your question, if someone has a post reported and it needs to be adjusted the mod will censor it with red text but keep it visible to everyone.

Laera: The Golden Joystick thread was a prime example of the inconsistency in moderation. We apologize and we know we can do better than that.
