place where I'm questing for clarity. Are you talking
about a change in policy -- the situation going
forward? From the forum user perspective, posts were vanishing, no red text. They were invisible to forum users and the forum posts were being renumbered as if they never existed. I never imagined they were gone from the database, but that doesn't really matter with regard to the problems (confusion, further warnings for expression of the confusion) that was created.
I THINK you're telling me this should not occur in future; that if a post content is "unapproved" we'll still see that post number containing some red text only. Can you confirm?
I have to ask because it's possible you're saying there's to be red text in an "unapproved" post entry in the database that nobody can see; that would be silly and does not help if so.
Laera: Posts should not disappear in the future unless they're really
awful (example - violent threats towards fellow players or mods).
The issue was that heated threads such as The Golden Joystick had
so many blatant violations and were escalating so quickly that
posts were being unapproved for mods to keep up with the influx of
reports. That was poor practice and should not occur in the
future.
To answer your question, if someone has a post reported and it needs to be adjusted the mod will censor it with red text but keep it visible to everyone.
