board. The overall prizing is measured by individual
gold-earnings over the entire weekend. Each tournament awards gold
per group. At conclusion of the event, we'll post a leader board
showing how much players earned sorted from highest to lowest. The
top 1% of earners, based on total number of unique players, are the

Trevzor: So, I took it upon myself to add up the enemy team's
HP pool from your first screenshot, the one that you had the
question about. Their total HP pool was 23690 hit points.
You caused a total of 4153 damage that match. 4153 / 23690 =
17.53% You need to claim 20% of the enemy team's total
hit point pool as damage that you caused... unfortunately, you
were just a bit short. To earn the High Caliber medal in that
match, you would have needed to cause 4738 damage in the match. One
more shot, and you would have had it. Regarding your second
screenshot, you caused over 9700 points of damage to a team with
roughly the same amount of hit points (from a long ways away as
well. GG.) Because of this you were awarded the High Caliber medal
as well as the Tank Sniper medal. Sadly, sometimes no amount of
carry in the world will win you a match.

which makes discussing such things with other cultures difficult.
in my entire extended family, cousins, grandparents, uncles,
inlaws etc, not one of them has had a house catch fire. None have
suffocated to death or illness. Not one of them has been in a car
accident worse than a bumper scrape. My parents have, however, been
burgled twice, (Ireland (hot) and Belgium (cold)) and mugged once
(Saint Petersburg, that one actually made the news). Yet it is not
considered paranoia to have smoke or carbon monoxide detectors, nor
drive a Volvo because of its safety record and wearing a seatbelt
on even the shortest trips. Why should protection against crime be
any different? The events may be unlikely, but it is easily
accepted that they -do- happen. One can make the counter argument
that wandering around with the "knowledge" that you are safe isn't
anything other than sticking your head in the sand and hoping the
event doesn't happen to you because it's easier (and less
unpleasant) to ignore the possibility than deal with reality
and the actions one needs to take should that reality strike.

The_Chieftain: Are there bears and mountain lions and the ilk in Japan?
Such creatures do exist in my neighbourhood. Heck, there's a bear
on our flag. I have highlighted the operative of the last
line. Japan may have no particular need for self defense guns. The
country has an astonishingly low rate of murder, and quite a low
rate of rape. But there were still some 1,800 individuals in Japan
who quite possibly did feel a strong desire for a self defense gun.
The US mentality puts great on the rights of the individual, to
include the rights to life and liberty. To what extent should the
individuals who were victims of violent crime have their life or
bodies forfeit for the good of the national crime rate statistics?
Further, is there any reason at all to believe that Japanese
culture is such that incidence of violent crime would increase in
accordance with increased access to firearms? Maybe I have an
idealistic view of Japan, but I don't believe that it is.

drop on someone" has more of a psychological benefit than
necessarily a tactical one, unless one is -expecting- trouble. But
criminals don't expect trouble, they expect compliance. It's a
massive mindset difference which a resisting victim can (and
usually does) take to his or her advantage.
Quote Crime rate of Japan and Korea are much lower than the United States. That's not statistical evidence to you?
The_Chieftain: It is statistical evidence that crime rates of Japan and
Korea are lower. It is not statistical evidence of anything to do
with private ownership of firearms.

The_Chieftain: I agree entirely with this. We're not talking about 'a
right' (at least, I'm not) as in the typical second-amendment
"I have a right enumerated in the bill of rights" thing, but a
natural right as recognised by pretty much any civilisation (modern
and ancient) to defend yourself, by lethal force if required. The
thing about the US is that it takes this natural right and
specifically incorporates it into legislation in such a manner that
the ability to practice that right of defense cannot be arbitrarily
limited without damned good cause.

having a low overall national crimerate doesn't do me a whole hell
of a lot of good if I'm unlucky enough to be one of those very few
who actually happens to be that notable statistic to whom violent
crime actually occurs. In such a case, having a firearm
accessible is far more likely to solve my problem than any other
solution I can think of off the top of my head. There is no reason
why such a policy cannot work in conjunction with attempting
societal changes in order to reduce the chances of the firearm
being required to begin with.

committed in Japan and Korea? I've not looked up the figures, but I
find such a contention difficult to believe. I am not aware of any
