Why has WG not yet released their map making tool? Players can make their own maps and WG can enable a new map / mode test server 2-3 days per week. Players would make good maps / balance existing maps / even invent new game modes (like surf OR "jump down the platforms without exploding" OR hide and seek) for free regularly.

The guys currently making maps for WG are the Duke of Lorraine and Duchess of Austria? They refuse to lose their thrones no matter what? Look at Warcraft 3. Dota was born because someone had some imagination / skill on Warcraft 3's map editor and we all know how well it outgrew the 'source' / 'mother' game.
