merig00: UPDATED March 23, 2011
This is translation of instruction created by the members of the russian forum.
World of Tanks on AppDB: appdb.winehq.org
A new patch from winex - no mouse lags, all resolutions work.
Now the desktop is not emulated by default - no unneeded windows.
adjusted rights to start
new wine 1.3.16 - possible increase in response and support of new drivers\hardware.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Instruction for all distributives and extra lazy users
and also for those, that don't want to delete their wine or change its settigns
So download the archive
1 extract it in its own directory, the folder WoTFLIX will appear
2 enter it ( your home catalog, or the catalog where you extracted the archive to)/WoTFLIX/.wine/drive_c/Games/World_of_Tanks (you need to turn on hidden and system files in the settings)
3 copy there the client files (the content of the root folder with all subfolders). I don't know where you'll get that, but later, if needed, i'll upload a large archive with them. Or you can install in your wine and then copy them.
4 Start the game with a double clickicking WoTFLIX or WoTLauncherIX (or WoTX1, read about it below)
If you need to get into the settings of the built-in wine, double click .winecfg in the root and set everything there.

How to launch in separate X
In the archive there is a script to launch in separate X.
Possible increase in more smooth and faster movement of mouse.
However before you launch in separate X you need to do what is being advised for game in separate x-server (google has a lot of info on this)
sudo dpkg-reconfigure x11-common- chose whoever you want or anybody
sudo gpasswd -a user_name audio- change name to the name of your OS user
chmod +x WoTX1- grant rights to launch
It is advisable to reboot after these two commands
After this the game can be launched on the separate server by double clicking WoTX1.
The possibility to launch on the server by default, by clicking WoTLauncherIX and WotFLIX, obviously still will be there.
Useful advices
- TeamSpeak perfectly works under Linux - www.teamspeak.com
- The problem with screesnot you can solve by assigning properties of window manager to some key combination, for example: import -window root ~/.wine/drive_c/World_of_Tanks_closed_Beta/shot_`date +%y.%m.%d_%H:%M:%S`.jpg (requires install of ImageMagick). Though you can use scrot, or whatever you desire.
