WGLNA Open Exhibition

Just on the face of it, it seems, well, counterintuitive to put the ostensibly better teams together in the same pool. Most tournaments (in the world, I mean) attempt to spread the higher-seeded entrants into different pools, because that is generally thought to be more fair.

dance210:   Depends on what the point of the tournament is. The Open Exhibition has the same goal as the Summer Preseason - to give teams a chance to practice the pro-format against others at or above their level. That's why league teams generally face league teams (although some serious teams will request to face league teams, which we'll usually honor). As harsh as this may sound, the point of this tournament is not to give all teams a "fair" shot at gold - that's what our casual tourneys like the Skirmish do.   Putting a team like Refuse 2 Die or Doge Squad in with a team that has never done 7/42 before will give the "better" teams more gold, yes. However, other than easy gold, what do those teams get out of it? However, when Refuse 2 Die is pitted against Doge Squad, they get the chance to earn gold AND have more evenly matched fights.   (apologies to Refuse 2 Die and Doge Squad - y'all were just the first two teams I could think of in the same bracket <3 )
