The_Chieftain: It's not at odds, really. I've always said that the problem
was not that the US didn't think they needed a bigger gun, it was
that they honestly thought that, for some reason, the 76mm was big
enough to do the job. If they had truly been aware that the
standard 76 wasn't good enough, they would have implemented HVAP
