T110's Northern Migration

The_Chieftain:   One of the interesting notes I found on the M10 development was that they designed it from the start to allow the gun to be interchangeable with the 17pr. The note did not say if they had lend-lease in mind, or production for US purposes.   I still like to think I'm ahead on the car repair costs.   So the disks and brake pads (and sensors) on the wife's car came to about $840. OEM stuff, but purchased through... a back channel, thus cheaper than M-B pricing. I've spent about two full days, and a lot of cursing, putting the parts on. I screwed up the left rear caliper piston with an un-necessary and stupid error. Annoyingly, Mercedes does not sell its service manuals, unlike Audi. As ever, when doing a new thing on a new car type, I find I'm missing various tools which need purchasing. So add another, oh, $150 on gadgets and gizmos. Total cost thus far, $1,000 but it's going to go up. A full brake replacement at dealer is, I think, close on $2,000 for that car. So if the worst comes to the worst and I have to spend $350 on a new brake caliper, I'm still ahead. Assuming I don't balls that installation up too. Going to try just replacing the seals in the piston first, though. Will be messy, but cheap. Wife not happy about her baby being off the road, though.
