The_Chieftain: Yes, but the problem is that the sunshield/visors seems to prevent the hatch from opening sufficiently far to actually engage the lock. They seem to be an Australian modification?   That said, I may have not given it enough credit. Given that the periscopes do rotate, it's entirely possible that if you rotate the periscopes to the correct position, it moves the visor sufficiently to allow enough clearance for the latches to engage. I didn't think of it at the time.
