because ships that should use Situational Awareness (DD's) have no
reason to take Basics of Survivability and I believe that changing
a tier 1 skill should result in a total skill reset for all
captains... I can't help but enjoy the suffering of SA
addicts. Seriously, if a person recommends putting
SA on cruisers, battleships or carriers... they'll get no
sympathy from me. I sincerely hope this costs the players who
advocate prioritizing Situational Awareness and Concealment Expert
above everything else a lot of real money. That style of
gameplay seriously undermines team dynamics with its focus on
individual performance and its aversion to sharing risks during
gameplay. Situational Awareness shouldn't even be in WoWS
(and Sixth Sense shouldn't be in WoT); there is no justification
for it and no rational way to explain it. The truth about
stealth is that no matter what you'll never know whether or
not it is effective until after the fact; sneaking should require
the same discipline and self control in game as it does in the real
world. Taking the risk out of stealth is what has made
stealth mechanics the dominate meta-game in both WoT and WoWS...
and completely removed the question of when to fire at a target
because there's no chance of waiting for a better shot or for
them to get farther from cover before ambushing them. When
the target knows they've been seen you have to take whatever shot
you can because you won't get another one (assuming you're not
targeting the mentally infirm). TL;DR: Situational
Awareness (and Sixth Sense) needs to be removed from the game.
It's a silly, overpowered "get out of jail free card" that
has no reason to exist.The_Chieftain: Hear, hear. I made what I considered to b a very
strong argument against the inclusion of Sixth Sense in any way,
shape or form in one of our products, and it resulted in engaging
the senior designers in conversation on the subject. In the end,
though, I lost. I'll post the extract of my argument later
when I'm in the office (I believe it kills thoughtful gameplay),
but near as I can tell, the gist of the winning argument was the
belief that players want aids to make things easier far more than
they want a challenge.
