Why is Camping Bad

The_Chieftain: I would personally make two observations. The first is
that if you're sitting around waiting for someone to come into your
sights, your effective DPM is 0hp/min. Now, if you have strong
grounds to believe that something will appear to shoot at in the
immediate future (eg you're a TD in the SW corner of Fiery Salient
and there are some mediums or lights pushing ahead of you), then
fine, but if, as I've seen so many times, a group of TDs are
sitting there, waiting for half the game, they may as well not be
in the game at all. I'm not saying charge forward, necessarily, but
at least move to where there is a known or proximate active fight.
The other observation I have is that the team with the
initiative is usually the one with the advantage. Ever notice how
the best players seem to gravitate towards mediums? They are the
ones dictating the pace and location of the fight, and the team on
the receiving end of the medium attack is on the back foot,
reacting. They're no longer trying to win, but trying to avoid
losing. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with
a goalkeeper or a second line of defense, but those roles need not
take you far out of the fight. Every vehicle in the game has
tracks, even artillery. They should be used.
