The_Chieftain: Basically, yes. It is knocked out of the current fight, and can contribute no more to the final outcome than a totally destroyed tank, unless you want to count distraction/decoy and radio effects.  Frequently a crew in a disabled tank will simply abandon it in the hope of being able to recover it later rather than sit in a large target with no ability to defend themselves. That's assuming there is no realistic option of retreat in reverse.
