What is the tube like object on the side of the T-55A's turret?

The_Chieftain: It's a snorkel mount.    Over a production run as long as T-55's, you can expect that there would be detail changes. The last production batches built in the USSR intended for export had the snorkel mounted on the right side of the turret.
